    The original Aladdin story was set in China but was told in 1001 Arabian Nights, as one of the tale by Scheherazade.

    The backstory's turned awfully Hunger Games, by the way. Not a bad thing, but noticeable on a thematic level.

    How so?
    That sorta weird since I've never read the books or seen the movies all the way through.

    I picked the sun theme for two reasons A) Its a nod to superman and B) the symbol of white is a sun so I felt that a hero who represents white mana should be sun based and picked the name based on the sun theme.

    Finally this my note on out Batman*;
    BNemesisB

    Real Name: Helen Castle (taken from a alternate world, Helena Wayen Batmans daughter and the name of the Punisher AKA Frank Castle)
    Race: Vampire (Formally Human)
    Age: 26 (chronological) 16 (appearance)

    Helen and her twin sister Barbara where born to a wealthy family in Kane City. Her father was the police commissioner and her mother was a scientist. One night a few weeks after Helen and Barbara turned 16, the largest vampire gang in the city broke in the Castes household and kidnapped the family as revenge for Helen’s father arresting one of their leaders. Hiding them along with a few other kidnapped families, the vampires began to eat, one by one members of the Castle family was drained by the vampires until only Helen remained. The night they began to drain her, the police finally tracked down the vampire gang and broken in. In one last moment of cruelty, the vampire who had been draining her, infected her with his blood beginning the very painful transformation into a vampire. After adjusting to her life as a vampire and learning to control her urges to feed, Helen began to look into the vampire gang. Seeing how large the gang was and its network of non-vampire agents all over Kane, Helen decide to take revenge. Helen trained herself into a deathly combatant, using science skills she learned from her mother and detective skills she learned from her father and along with her own vampiric powers, she tracked down and killed anyone who was ever in the vampire gang as well as anyone even remotely working for them, swearing to be a Nemesis to anyone who helps the gang. As the gang wars between The Mask Don (WB legend) and Punchline (BR Joker*) get more and more intense a few of the other heroes in Kane have reached out to Nemesis to join together for help, however until one of the two gang leaders join themselves with the vampire gang, Nemesis is content to let the City be torn apart as long as she can get vengeance for murder of her family.

    Powers: Enhanced senses durability, stamina, reflexes and strength, able to heal and regenerating herself if she feeds on a living being, knowledge of sciences and detective skills, master of many forms of weapons and combat. Nemesis special power is a 6th sense allowing her to sense the life force of near by living beings. She has also been slowly growing stronger as she feeds more and more…

    Weakness: Like all vampires Nemesis is severally weakened in direct sunlight, reducing her as strong as a normal woman her height and weight and surprises her enchanted vampire powers. However even during in a room with no direct sun is enough for this not to matter. Although greatly enhanced and durable vampires are still able to be hurt with normal weapons, such as guns, swords, arrows ect. Her 6th sense can only sense living beings so zombies, constructs, ect are “invisible” to her. She also has a to keep control of her vampire hunger, which is harder to do if she has recently fed. As she feeds more and more she been noticing herself slightly changing, getting strong as well as feeling more feral.

    Would have gone in WUBRG order but the way I wrote Aquaman* feels more GU then mono U, so I'm going through a re-write.

    My anticipation to the reveal of the other Planeswalker Commanders is killing me Crying ...

    If Serra gets announced I might possibly go ballistic then stalk my LGS for pre-order (because hey, this is the only way she could get material other than those Vanguard cards of decades old and she ain't gonna appear in other non-card materials like toys and the like).

    Oh, and a Freyalise would floor me.

    WOTC Pleathe....

    I'd bet money the white walk is Serra since we have seen her angel in the core sets in the last 6+ years so even newer players who don't know the lore, are already familiar with the name.

    The "peek" ability that triggers when it etb would work very well on Trap-Crasher Beast.

    I'm also on board with a elf functional reprint of Voyaging Satyr, since its a mana dork and helps with muti-colored decks.

    On the one hand, I like all the references (especially since I'm kind of ignorant on that front), but I'd be careful about taking it too far. Better to have good sounding names that may be references than make it awkwardly obvious (I'm looking at you, Heliod!)

    I'm not sure I like the parent killing part. I kind of feel this character should be a part of the system through and through. I feel his struggle between obeying orders and doing what he feels is right is enough without adding a tragic backstory.

    It was just something to explain his moral center, showing why he doesn't kill or get power hungry despite being the strongest known super. But I'm not attach to this plot point so its whatever.

    I like the light theme, but does that mean we're not using it for Thor girl? (Which I must say, we totally did first :p Take that marvel!)

    Well that worked better when I thought of her for RW, but for mono R I say lets go more with the lighting aspect. If not a way to explain the difference is Solstice light is more similar to stunning while our red walkers uses light(ning) in the same way of Cleansing Beam.

    I'm not too big on the name; Solstice sounds cool, but it feels too special IMO. I think this hero needs a more generic, every-hero name.

    I have Solar, Soleil and captain Solar and Captain Soleil floating in my head for other names.

    Also, can we go with Utopolis instead of Utropolis? I feel the former is clearer on the "utopia" root.

    I'm perfectly fine with Utopolis.

    Why not Leshrac or Yawgamoth (sp?) for Black?

    I'm not 100% on the pre-mending lore but Yawgamoth wasn't a planeswalker (hence why he need portals) he was just a near gody in power.

    I'm guessing we are getting Serra in W (we see her angle on and off in core sets I think most people have an idea who she is).

    I hope Ajani ends up targeting the right gods, though... Ephara, Karametra and Thassa were quite kind to humanity AND the heroes on their journey. And Kruphix isn't to blame for anything either. Just the opposite.

    I think what is what this passage was addressing ;
    One spoke of how often the gods had helped him. Rarely, he said, and not much. Those around him nodded.

    Seems like a few still respect the gods that do help but seems like they won't be giving total devotion to them like they did at the start of Theros.

    I'm no storyline expert, but I thought Elspeth Tirel's sword was just a sword and Heliod blessed/enchanted it to make it a super weapon able to kill a god. Source: The hero's journey craft a super equipment story from pre-release and release events for Journey into Nyx.

    Nope, Purphoros forged Godsend to be able to cut through Nyx and things born from Nyx (including the gods). While trying to dethrone Heliod, Purphore dropped Godsend through a rip in nix where it fell to Theros. During this Elspeth had just became a planeswalker and in fear stole the sword for protection and planeswalked away.

    Later then she first talked to Heliod he transformed it in order to turn Godsend into a symbol for himself and "let" Elspeth "borrow" it, but Godsend still had the power to cut through Nyx.

    Arrogance unblock able effect has only been in green, however I think it can bleed into red and it fits the flavor and theme of the set.

    On flying hate;
    Keep in mind that Flying is probity gonna be used a lot since Flying is a common power in comics, we are even having our WU archetype is gonna be equipment/fliers which can give mono-green decks some troubles.

    On P4:
    We did say that we wanted suit-up/equipment and monsterus /counters to help creature reach a power of 4, which is why I'm more for threshold p4 stuff instead of ETB triggers. Also having them only be affected by other creatures seems very limiting.

    Since naming has gone still somewhat I figured we could switch gears back to our main characters so here is what I thinking for Superman*:

    WSolsticeW
    Real Name: Reev Evens (taken from Christopher Reeves and George Reeve who both portrayed Superman and Chris Evens who portrays Captain America).
    Race: Human-Super
    Age: 25

    Solstice was born to a family living in Utropolis and lived a normal childhood until he turned 10 and his power manifested. Losing control of his new found powers he ended up accidentally killing his parents. He lived in fear of himself until he was found by one of the government schools agent, who brought him to the Utropolis school for training supers to control their powers. There Reev train his powers, growing up into the world most powerful superhero to date. After he graduated he joined joined the group of supers ran by the government to protect the city and was given the name Solstice since he drew his powers from light. Due the the accidental death of his parents Solstice swore to never ever take a life, doing his all he can to bring the criminals he finds alive and not severely hurts. As the years passed, the government leaders changed until finally President Alexandra Adams rose to power. As she started to make more and more laws limiting and striping first the rights of the mutants and then other supers. Now Solstice is conflicted not sure he can trust the very government that helped him train and control his godly powers.

    Powers: He draws his powers from any form of light, the most common source being sunlight. His powers manifest as super strength, flight, speed, reflexes, senses, stamina, durability, healing factor, able to shoot beams of light from his eyes and hands.

    Weakness: The less light there is the less time Solstice is able to fight for before he starts to weaken, with supers who manipulate darkness and shadows having a slight edge over him. Although slightly weaker at night he still can absorb the reflected sunlight off the moon, but is servly weaker during eclipses. Unknown to Solstice the government has secretly making crystals able to absorbs the surrounding light and even pull it out of Solstice. Also supers close to his power level can give him some trouble.

    Ah I see it. Mugging fits in for CR16.

    On p4:
    I kinda like a threshold like effect, with a card by card triggers. Flavor-wise I’m really feeling a “sidekick/partner” feel, with the sidekicks get stronger, gain abilities and/or able to assist the “heroes”.

    Ideas for Green;
    CG05:Spider Bro or Thorny Lasher
    CG07: Shy Guy
    CG08: Ivy* Elemental
    CG10:Sporeback Stegadon or Rhino Man
    CG11: Fight Trap

    CG01:
    Arbor Elf (or similar card)
    Essence Warden

    Trap Seeker 2G
    Creature-Elf C
    Whenever ~ deals combat damage to a player look at that players hand. If that player has an Instant or Sorcery cards put a +1/+1 counter on ~.
    1/2

    CG03/CG04:

    Amazon Sidekick1GG
    Creature-Elf Druid
    At the beginning of your upkeep, if you control a creature with a power of 4 or greater put a 3/3 beast creature token into play.
    2/4

    Power-Puncher 1G
    Creature-Human
    Attacking and blocking creatures you control get +1/+1 until the end of the turn.
    2/2

    Warrior Sidekick 2G
    Creature-Human
    1GT: ~ fights target creature you don’t control. Actvate this only if you control a creature with a power of 4 or greater.
    2/3

    CG06:
    Counter Element V2 3GG
    Creature-Element
    When Counter Elemental enters the battlefield, put a +1/+1 counter on target creature you control.
    Revive 3GGG
    3/3

    CG09:
    Raging Beast GGG
    Creature- Beast
    4/3

    Revive Fattie 2GGG
    Creature-Human
    Revive 4GGG
    5/5

    CG12-CG16:
    Harrow (or some other ramp card)
    Naturalize (or something similar)
    Heal the Scars
    Bullseye

    Charging Entrance 2G
    Sorcery
    Next creature spell you cast this turn can’t be countered.

    CG17-CG18
    Arachnus Web

    Archers Eye 3GG
    Enchantment-Aura
    Enchant creature
    Enchanted creature has “T: This creature deals 2 damage to target creature with flying.”

    Just mix and match the effect and trap trigger;

    Explosive Revenge V2 2R
    Instant {C}
    If a creature you control was dealt damage this turn, you may pay 1B instead of paying Explosive Revenge's mana cost.
    ~ deals 3 damage to target creature or player.

    Heat of the Moment can just be dumbed to common;

    Heat of the Moment V2 1R (RR?)
    Sorcery
    Exile the top card of your library. You may play it this turn.

    Other suggestions;

    Smoking out the Moles 2RR
    Sorcery C
    Destroy target land.
    That lands controller puts three 1/1 red goblin creature tokens into play.

    Flame on Aura

    Act of Treason (or any similar card)

    Will edit this when I come up with some green cards.

    I really love how the art blends the two style slivers, sorta showing the "missing link" between M14 slivers and old stye slivers.
