TBh if the helvault is where Nahiri been its okay, I think the writers wrote themselves in a bit of a corner here.

I wonder if it means that his power was permanently diminished by creating Avacyn or if it was temporary? Nahiri's power post mending is also quite interesting.

    This was still pre-mending.

Someone should throw the question back at MaRo. Why can't Arlinn be in Eldritch Moon instead?

We could always wait for a RG walker. Werewolf fans have been waiting for so long!

And since it's a small set, my worry is that this supposed legend is gonna end up as a cycle of gold rares like Mina and Denn. Good, but nothing special.

I'm wondering this won't be the tread with walkers from now on, 4 in the large set and 1 in the small set (I'm still thinking Tamiyo won't be seen in this block).

I'm guessing we will get a mythic legendary Wu Spirit, UB zombie and RG Werewolf to finish the cycle of Olivia and Sigarda.

I'm guessing we will get a UB zombie themed legend, WU spirit themed legend and the long awaited RG werewolf themed legend, since we got our vampire and human tribal commanders with Olivia and Sigarda respectfully.

A random UG legend would also be awesome.

Liliana will mostly be mono-black and I really don't think Tamiyo will be given a card in this block.

Zombies add R, with more of a Modern Prometheus (aka Frankenstein) vibe.

That's already what U zombies are.

We haven't really had an erudite, intelligent reanimated corpse. Grimgrin's the closest, and he's a far cry from the Monster of Shelley's novel.

And R is the color for that?

Playing through the campaign on Magic Duels, Tamiyo is 100% alive and not an a delusion. Jace meets her in the great cathedral in Thraben, where they are confronted by Avacyn and the event on Avacyn's Judgment occurs. Also confirmation that Tamiyo is experiencing the madness and delirium afflicting Jace in his own investigations. Tamiyo also has a new mugshot that appears with Jace, and his deck (previously a kind of mono-blue madness flyer deck) takes on white and green. Take that as you will. Could just be them making that Bant clues deck that suits the pair. The game just ends on the scene of Avacyn's Judgment with nothing else told, literally a cliffhanger. Not necessarily how the Uncharted Realms ends for SOI since it's pretty abrupt. It doesn't even get to Anguished Unmaking.

The long and short of it is pretty much nothing we don't know about yet.

Huh I must have missed the reference to Tamiyo's madness in the story (tbh I had to read it in a rush before my class started).

Huh I would have bet money Tamiyo won't appear as a card, but the new pic supports it, unless it ends up just being a spell in EMN.

This weeks story was okay, once again we get more questions then answers lol. I'm actually really excited to see more of Tamiyo characterization since she has so little lore about her (Tibalt had his origin story and a duel deck to help give insight into his character).

I wonder though, why is Jace feeling the madness and seemingly not the other walkers (except maybe Nahiri)?

Not sure it this is the right place for it, but there is a new video in portuguese in hanweirchronicle.com

    The letter reads something like:
"I write from Hanweir province (formally Hanweir town). I understand that you have hunted angels lately, but we discovered something that may be of your interest.
Our wall's captain recently killed a werewolf between the city walls and was scared to discover that he had not changed back when he died. I have included part of his skin and the head of the arrow that killed he as evidence. Please answer as soon as you can - my city grows in apprehension and concern about the conditions of the world beyond our walls.
    Thank you,
    Oliver Hayfield"

I found that really interesting. It seems that not only the cursemute has changed, but the very nature of lycanthropy on the plane.

Sad to say this might be Tovolar.

Otherwise this could be a very bad sign, seems like the monsters might be getting stronger.

This story was kinda of trippy, I like the idea of the writing of this better then the execution. So it seems Avacyn maddness has been around a good while now and Tamiyo left her journal to Jenrik who then went to the Manor. Wonder if he was trying to warn the Markovs? Also seems whatever is driving Innistrad insane is working on Jace too.

So heres an interesting side point. Uncaged Fury has a quote from Rahilda the alpha of the Vildin howlpack. Do they mean this Vildin-Pack Alpha? If so why not go ahead and name her? With all the clamoring for a legendary werewolf and then recognizing that not including one least time was a mistake why not name her? Or the other way around why call that card the alpha if you're not going to name her after you've given the character a name elsewhere?

The main reason to make a werewolf legend would be to enable werewolf commander decks. Therefore it would have to be a RG card. They tend to run out of space for multi-colored cards, so maybe they just pushed it to the next set for those reasons?

This. Wizards acknowledge that not making a legendary werewolf was a mistake. I think MaRo said there were some dev issues with a DF legendary, but since they printed a DF Avacyn, that's not an excuse anymore.

People really need to re-read his statement on this. I caused issues because the card can transform back and forth. Both Avacyn and Elbrus can't transform back to the "day" side once transformed and the legendary rule was also different.

Honesty I think the best way is for moon to introduce a few one sided werewolf creatures and have a one sided legendary.

Maro has said Vampires and Madness are in the same archetype wit vampires having discard abilities to help trigger madness cards.
    http://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/making-magic/chasing-shadows-part-2-2016-03-21
Vampires—If Werewolves changed the least, Vampires have changed the most. In Innistrad, Vampires were the most aggressive tribe, with an unnamed mechanic that had them get +1/+1 counters whenever they dealt combat damage to a player (what R&D nicknamed the "Slith ability," based on a previous bunch of creatures with the ability in the set Mirrodin). The Slith ability is (almost entirely) gone. In its place is a strong tie to the madness mechanic that appears in black and red, the two Vampire colors. The Vampires of Innistrad are going crazy, and this can be seen through the madness mechanic that shows up on a lot of Vampire cards.

It also seems they are calling back to the first Innistrad with mono-colored cards with off color activations costs seen with Olivia's Bloodsworn, Ongoing Investigation and Nahiri's Machinations

... so if you awaken this land first, wouldn't the Demon also be just a 0/0 with the +1/+1 counters from the Awaken effect and an Elemental as well as a Demon?

I don't think so, since other creatures who transform change their base power and toughness to whatever the other side is. It would keep the counters though.

  • posted a message on Mechanic dump pt1-Three color focused
EDIT- I cleaned up some typos and clarified somethings.

Opportunity- Yes I'm aware it replaces Deathtouch for black. I was trying to make a control mechanic for UWB and tapping seemed like a good idea since all three color interact with tapping, with WU and tap/untap things and black liking to take advantage of tapped things. I agree it is a little out there for black but it also just feels like a different form of Deathtouch.

Blood Cast- The blue aspect is because this mechanic will be mostly used on Instant and Sorcery and it being a "fixed" Prowl.

Feed- While I see the point of caring about toughness, the kind of idea I was going for is this creatures taking power from those who have died (or maybe sacrificed) and it makes since that they want the power of the most powerful creature as posed to the most hardy creature. I also intended to focus the set to having you sac your own creatures to feed the other.

Resourced- Yes it meant to put than. So it tuns on as long as you have 10 more life (EX: you at 25 and an opponent is at 15) Seemed like a good space to play in with these colors since W can gain you life, R and make opponents lose life and B can do both.

Armed-Yeah I made it a point of saying you control so things like Pacifism can't activate it.

Valor- Yeah I was on the fence of naming it. I ended up doing it since Armed is evergreen for my sets and Valor is suppose to be a fraction mechanic, though Heroic also works instead.

Insight- I add thought of going Insight a cost, but I didn't know if it would nerf it too much. I also made this original just to give your creature a +1/+1 counter but figured I could open it up to other effects. Would making it like prowess work better? AKA Insight gives you a +1/+1 counter (and a cost) and a few other will have other abilities that activate when you draw a card?
