Quote from Crazy Pierre »Well, people saying Legends is a bad set...it's not really playable in limited or sealed. A lot of the creatures are very expensive to play. When your best limited beater is Thunder Spirit at 1WW and that's a rare card, yikes.
I do have a casual Jasmine Boreal deck that's based on destroying evil, peace prevailing, nature and the odd Shuriken, because I had thought for a long time she held a shuriken in her hand, whereas someone pointed out that she's holding a snowflake. Cards such as Fyndhorn Pollen, Northern Paladin, Southern Paladin, Penatarch Paladin, Cleanse, Shuriken, the meld Gisela and Bruna and so on. YOu get the idea, it's not very good but it's fun!
Legends is one of my fave all-time sets, but I always sucked at pack wars. My best card an Elder Land wurm and his? A Mana Drain lol...
Damn, for 20 or so years I always saw a shuriken too!
That's a good observation. At mythic, and given the color requirements in comparison of P/T, it could have had at least the abilities "for free" and afterlife as a good bonus.
Ornery Goblin > Goblin Piker
Same rarity, P/T and creatures types.
Ornery Goblin has trigger that allows for better combat if you control it.
- I don't go much to the LGS because it takes more time, you inevitably get paired against the bro/spike/pro-wannabe who doesn't understand an FNM is there to wind down after a long week of work and shouldn't be compared to the finals of a Pro Tour
- If all people like me begin to buy directly from Amazon and not an LGS, it might undermine a lot of them which will make the local player base disappear
- It would mean less tournaments and less people going in the game, losing even more visibility
- Without LGS, getting new players in the paper game is very difficult, jeopardizing the future of the game
- No more sealded decks at home with the pal
In short, I'm not certain my 5- minutes, armchair economist analysis is correct, but I don't think it's a good move for the game.
My choice would be then:
Dimir
Izzet
Selesnya
Boros
Golgari
The troll has me mixed, it requires constant feeding, which can be irregular in limited, but you'd keep it for the mid-game I suppose, since even recursive cards can't help due to the exile clause.
As said, give it deathtouch and you have a 5/5 vigilance Plague Wind. Very strong card.
