Both Narset and Ashiok can fit into a Fun Police mono-U deck and are uncommon, which is nice if you're the cheap misanthrope type.

All I care is that the coolest sword in the whole history of MTG is destroyed because some incompetent thought he could wield it like a real hero.

It looks to me this is more a salty comment about the failure of Brawl than a constructive answer. Arena offers all the convenience and ease of use than tabletop can't offer, so making it available there is just a bonus for players. It's extremely probable that a lot of Arena players would rather enjoy building some random deck with the cards they got for free playing now and then than going through all the hassle and financials of analyzing a metagame, acquiring real cards, find events, commute to them, spend time at the place for maybe get 0-4'd and so on. Making it unavailable on Arena because they're angry it didn't catch up in the cardboard format will certainly not help the format at all.

Why would anyone of the GW croak? They're your feel-good band of high-fivein' young adults whose Power of Friendship see them vanquishing extraplanar entities, blasting ancient demons and gods out of existence and whatnot. An ancient Elder Dragon Planeswalker as powerful as Bolas is nothing to sweat about for them. Also, way too much marketing, and branded products around them to see them go. In this day and age, nobody who wants to run a comics-like story is ready to have the whole team sacrificed for a greater good and disappear like in the Weatherlight saga.

Commercially, it's a good move. The fact that supplemental products were only legal in Legacy and casual formats beyond of their own scope appealed to an ever-shrinking player base. The fact that players can have powerful cards that won't warp Standard is a good thing, for all what this format is still worth, as core sets couldn't fill that role for game balance purposes.

"As Magic becomes more and more global, it makes less and less sense to suggest a retail price."

Come on, since how many years have there been GP and the game played all around the world? This comment doesn't make any sense.

But yeah, maybe they're cooking a "Reserved Masters" :p

I wanted the card to be flexible enough not to be a dead draw or a liability. If you're flooding and can't play anything, you want to dig in your deck and can afford to discard a land. If you're just tight, you take the risk of bouncing a lesser dude. If you're ahead, you can win more by springing that guy with a cool ETB and win the game. Depending of the power of ETB in a set that card would be in, it might be moved to uncommon probably.

I agree with Metaethics, for some reason Wizards made Golgari the crappiest guild two times in a row. There was never really a scavenge deck, so they made something arguably worse with undergrowth.

And yes, a card like Bartizan Bats is infuriating in a set with the name "Ravnica" in it.

Compare it to power commons they did in the past like Bala Ged Scorpion which did at least something could be used in a kind of standard budget deck.

I was studying for a technical certification with a friend, and somehow this brought me the idea of this card. The flavor is that you study better if you study with a friend rather than alone. Does this card already exist? If not, would it be balanced?

    Mentored Study - 2U, common
Draw two cards, then return a creature you control to its owner's hand. If you can't, discard a card.

The Custom Card Random Card of the Day for 1/14/19 is Lady Evangela.

One of the bizarre Legends legends. I never understood what black was doing in the ability cost.

Well, they are plenty of bizarre Legends. Smile

The black here is indeed trespassing, but I would have seen something like this then:

WB, T: Prevent all combat damage that would be dealt by target creature this turn. Any creature blocking it gains deathtouch until end of turn.

With this move, Wizards is behaving like your awkward uncle who has a midlife crisis and begins to listen to rap and wear hoodies when all he knew was Fleetwood Mac: they try too much to be cool it's becoming cheesy. Yes, we're in the age of online and mobile games, which MTG cardboard is definitely not. FNM are supposed to still be tournaments, not feel-good gigs where you pair against anyone because you're best buddies, exchange a few spells for 20 minutes and then high-five and walk away all happy and good from the table. Tournaments have structure, rules which allow anyone to walk in a store they never went to with people they don't know and ensure it will deliver a "standardized" experience. It's always why you pay your sessions actually.

If you're already good on board or ahead, having all your subsequent creatures come in with Riot should be game ending.
