Countdown to whinging about staff burnout and "bristling" without considering user burnout from dealing with disingenuous caretakers.

    @Shaz -

I am really sorry you see it that way but I also think it's fair to interpret the actions as such. The thing is, some of us thought the Gutter needed to just be closed (hence the "closing the Gutter" announcement from late June. That was all worked on before Curse even entered the picture. We posted that, realized that we screwed up, and started talking about that... something like the day Curse showed up. So, we had two options... pretend that we are going to move forward ignoring a potential buyer and their input, or try to work with them. The problem with working with them was that we got different opinions at different times. And we had admins hired and quit in there too. So, the idea that we could give a consistent message would have been awesome, but it didn't happen.

Personally between you and me (since we tried to work on this via PM), I had to stop talking to you. All ideas that we shared didn't matter any more because I didn't know if I could make good on my promises. But, I also couldn't really tell you why because at the time, the policy of the new owner was not mine to share. I suppose I could have told you and that might have made things better, but I still do believe that when someone tells you that information is not yours to spread, that you respect that request.

I am sorry though. If I had my way things would be quite different (or maybe more the same as it was before), but a lot of the staff have been put in a very uncomfortable position by a completely absent owner working on a business deal with a group of people representing a buyer who are only talking with a very small number of staff. I refuse to let myself get too involved because this whole thing really pisses me off. Why the hell hasn't it changed hands yet? Seriously, even at the Global level of staff we haven't seen an update in forever.

Change pisses people off and why this has taken so long is beyond me.

You'll forgive me if my train of thought is chaotic right now. I'm going through the process of quitting smoking and it effects my concentration. Look, I'm pissed. I'm sure a lot of people are pissed, but the big thing to me is that I think three people were banned for ****ty reasons. I think they should not be banned, now that this is in the open.

    I'm extremely disappointed.

The various mods debated back and forth, discussing and searching for alternatives to closing the Gutter, or to neutering it. We had committed to work with the Gutter in lieu of closing it, and none of us were comfortable rescinding that promise. After increasingly frustrated discussions that could not find a good solution, the admins decided that we would rather resign than go back on our word.

The massive mistake was not being 100% honest with us in the pegging chamber. You over-complicated and over-thought everything. We were conducting those talks with good ****ing faith and the staff did not return that. The morally right and justifiably action would be to tell us that the gutter had to change because of the new owner. Not bull **** us. Not try to fake a 180. It reeked of untruth and you saw how we reacted to the obvious bull ****. We've been in more rodeos than you, after all.

Someone handed a veritable forbidden fruit to the gutter. That forbidden fruit wasn't just knowledge of the sale, but later on, Kpaca told us that curse wouldn't even allow the gutter to exist! He told us the truth in the gutter but was banned for it! Did you deny that truth? Told us that it was faulty information? Did we go back to the pegging chamber?

    Pegging chamber. What a laugh.

You guys should unban those three patriots. Even if the gutter has to die and it's just a symbolic unbanning.

Look, it's over. Whatever. If you learn anything from this: You can't control this site. You can not shape it into your little vision - it is bigger than that. You should not even try or it will self-destruct.

I'm also going to say that, when in doubt, listen to Nai. There are too many inexperienced and unwise lower tier mods who are ganging up.

    I don't get it

If their objective is to grow modern as a format, surely they should be looking at dropping the absurd price of staple cards -the biggest thing that stops people from playing modern?

Why put Goyf at mythic then?

To sell packs. Put the most sought after card at the highest rarity.

    Ahh, thank you.

Would Tordeck be able to relocate his information onto a user page?

Shazbot, I would like to direct your attention to the "User:" preceding the article name, "Magic Mage"; please duly note the page space. The "User:" page space is not the main article page space and is less stringent in its adherence to policies.

If it pleases you, and I hazard that you would or you probably wouldn't have brought it up, would you care to clarify "pages like this"? Or, have you chosen that specific user page for other, perhaps more personal reasons?

Wow, that is a little confusing. :p Could you (anyone?) please rephrase and simplify this?

Just so I understand the purpose of the wiki...

Pages like this are in no danger of being deleted?

This site has been panned in the past for having a low signal to noise ratio, and yet Magic Rulings has the highest such ratio of just about any MTG forum out there.

You pay attention to that criticism then? From off-siters who aren't a part of this community?

And when we have such a robust user base... No

What else would they change about MTGSalvation?

I can go find a bunch of ball busting moderation choices in the rulings section right now. Infractions which were given to people whos only intention was to be a helpful part of the community. Infractions that, if repeated, would get someone banned from this community.

The rules section is entirely too ball busting. You can say that "they want to have questions and give answers" all day long, but in this case:

the cure is worse than the sickness.

To dial back some of the extra kick that we gave the Pridestalker, we’ve got a series of upcoming changes. Step one was taking the bonus from a Ferocity-charged Savagery attack down to a more reasonable level.

    +

[Q] - Savagery: Ferocity Bonus now deals 150% (up from 100%)

    = Does not compute!

I play on MTGO, so I naturally understand the games rules. There comes a point where it's not an issue of being uptight or a stickler. Rather, it's simply not being wrong.

Deathfire grasp? Gives you cdr and a long cooldown burst move.
