Just to get some clarification, you're saying that an opponent cannot blow the Spellbomb in response to tapping mana, correct?

I believe so, but I'm no rules expert. If you're tapping a Birds I think they may be able to respond to that though. I actually wonder how that would work.

After looking at Chapin's list what do you guys think of Wild Hunger? I've never thought of that before. Also he's running a lot less creatures. Do you think we're trying to run too many creatures? I don't think we are, it makes me wonder.

2 things. I think we should run 4 Ghoultrees. Screws over Spellbomb. also remember to inform your opponent when you have priority if he tries to break it when he sees you try to tap your mana inform him he can't do that.

I think we should play Whiplfare like Kuji suggested. I think we should run it over Blasphempous Act This will make our tempered steel matchup kinda bad if we main deck it. To counter this I think we should run 3-4 Creeping Corrosions SB.

Also @lotusmonk: Remember we're not playing dream twist. We're playing cards that give us card advantage in addition to milling us. If we were playing cards like that I would completely agree with you but we're not.

@RealOG Tracker's Instincts is quite literally amazing I highly recommend you paly that card.

Finally funny note was playing W/B tokens and he was a t 12 late game with a bunch of tokes. I had a masticore and lavamancer out. I would been able to shoot him from 12, but he activated the lifegain land :(. Also I don;t think I drew Gnaw to the Bone, but I don't think our W/B token matchup is too good. Whipflare should help with that.

I don't think an aggro approach is bad, but I really think your deck is spread too thin. I think for the deck to work you really should try running at least a couple more mill cards. The werewovles also seem really bad with so many tempo decks and instants in the format right now. The only one that I think ok is the Huntmaster as his front side is good too.

Edit: Lotus I tested your list and honestly I would just play RDW. It's really trying to do too much TBH. If I want to go aggressive I'm thinking UI just run aggressive creatures instead of mana dorks IMHO.

Also on Thrun it should be noted that we could run up to 4 of him if we wanted because of our discard. Not advocating this just pointing it out.

Also Bearsman you mentioned Shattered Perception. I don't think we should run it as more than a 1 or 2-of, but it might be ok. Do you want to test it out? It does have a nice interaction with mulch.

Power 2 or less. So if you have 1 out it still works.

Why don't tehyt do it instead of one of the draft opens?

Lotusmonk I ask you please just play RealOG's most recent list. I don't care how or where you play it. Just play it. I think you need to play it to understand how it works. If you don't like it fine. Maybe we're wrong, but I really do think you should test it out.

FYI I agree with you on the Vengeful Pharaoh issue. I think I'd rather just run burn. It's not that I really don't like that you don't have to cast it. But you have to let the other player hit you and I'd rather not let something hit me.

Here's my problem with your version of the deck. Let's say you play a creature each of the first three turns to pressure the opponent. If you're playing for example U/W control they'll then wrath the board. Now you can cast a 3/3 Splinterfright on turn 4 that progressively grows bigger. Now your opponent will probably try to kill it with a single removal spell. Most of your creatures are sub-par now so you need to draw a Cagebreakers or Splinterfright. I guess Splinterfright's ok in that example, but still I can't help but think that I'd rather run something like Koth or Garruk. I really don't like Cagebreakers if you're still playing it though. When it swings in your deck it's probably going to create around 4 wolves at best. In some of our lists it will usually get around 8-10.

Also can I advocate Tracker's Instincts some more? It really is such a good card. Especially against control.

Against tempo decks they'll have to tap out for an early threat so you can sneak in a creature then. Against pure control decks you can just wait until you can play around their counter spells. Lotus I get what you're saying and your concerns are warranted, but I suggest you play the deck that RealOG listed. You haven't tested it yet and you really need to play the deck to understand it.

@bearsman I actually kinda like that card too. I think we should try testing it.

    @RealOG
I like that list. I think cutting a Cagebreakers for another Gnaw to the Bone is probably a good idea. Do you think the Nasticore should remain a 1 of or should we try running 2?

@lotus Something like this is ideal. My deck's pretty similar to RealOG's so the process will be pretty similar.

    Turn 1:
    Mana dork

    Turn 2:
Mulch (We'll say 2 creatures 1 land 1 Faithless Looting)
Faithless Looting (draw a threat and a land, drop a mana dork and a land)

    Turn 3:
    Splinterfright
Faithless Looting or Grim Lavamancer, depending on what is needed

    Turn 4:
    Splinterfright=5/5 after mill
Use a mill card for a bigger Splinterfright/more answers Splinterfright=7/7
And either Boneyard Wurm/Gnaw to the Bone/or a mill card to dig for an answer
Swing if if the opportunity is present

    Turn 5:
    Splinterfright, Boneyard Wurm=8/8
    Swing if available
At this point you really have to react to what the opponent is doing TBH

It should also be noted that the deck can get out a turn 3 Kessig Cagebrakers, although I'm not sure if that is ideal.
The deck although it doesn't have a lot of ways to interact with the opponent does have a lot of ways to respond to them them if that makes sense. That's why I put so many options in there.

What's your current list REalOG out of curiosity?

Lotusmonk I think you need to test the list that RealOG posted in his first post. I think you need to try playing with that version of the deck. Also the reason I love Tracker's Instincts is because it creates useful card advantage. Mulch gives you land which you might always need. But if you need to dig for a threat with no cards in hand Tracker's Instincts does that really well.

Also LaProva. I've always wanted to ty Molten-Tail Masticore. It also interacts with our opponent which some of you seem to thin this deck needs more of.

Generally Grim Lavamancer or block with my huge creatures. If they want to race you and you draw Gnaw to the Bone there's usually no way they're going to win that way.

This is what I'm running right now.

I like the Copperlines a lot in my deck so I can go turn 1 Bird then Turn 2 2 Faithlesses or something. May try reworking the mana base a little, but I think the one Yuji concocted is pretty solid. May do -1 Rootbound Crag +1 Forest or something. Also the Gnaw to the Bones are dependent on the meta. If you see a lot of control I'd MB 2 Postmortem Lunges instead. I added another one like RealOG suggested and it works great.

Yeah. I don't seem to be having troubles with mana. You think I could go -1 Evolving Wilds +1 Forest?
