Miracles are suddenly mandatory in every top 8 deck and people are required to put in at least a playset for the matches for epic Heart of the Cards moments.
And the player with board advantage has to consistently talk down the opponent by calling them "fool" or "pathetic" and telling them to give up.
if emrakul does show up, we might see something similar to Bloodborne, which was a similarly exaggerated victorian horror setting with noodly eldritch monsters. If nothing else, Bloodborne is precedent that the combination of themes works on a story and visual level.
I also think of Bloodborne whenever someone mentions Eldrazis on Innistrad. The mix of Gothic and cosmic horror, the importance of moon, the presence of magic, and the general look of the Great Ones being very Eldrazi-ish.
If Magic can handle this mix of genres the way Bloodborne did, I wouldn't mind Eldrazis on Innistrad, but they need to find a way to make the Eldrazis more subtle than they were in BFZ.
Ugh... I'm getting flashbacks of Mindreaver... Weird ability that doesn't really do anything or go well with the rest of the card. A Melvin's worst nightmare...
At least the stats are good for limited, so it's not a complete miss.
Our first white eldrazi is one heck of an interesting card! It's like every time I read it, I discover a new thing about it...
Cool, it blinks one of your creature at instant-speed!
Oh wait, it doesn't need to tap to do so, so you can repeat for as long as you have the mana!
Wait... you can also target your opponent's stuff to kill tokens and Hangarback Walker!
And they come back tapped? So you can use it as a tapper!
But wait... That means it's a tapper that works even after they declared their attackers, so it's even better!
I love blinking because of how flexible it is, but this takes flexibility to a whole new level. They might as well have used that for the art.
The art for Kozilek's Return just looks wrong. It reminds me of a bad custom Magic card where the creator simply picked an art on the Internet that was obviously never meant to go on a card and did a quick crop to make it fit. It doesn't look like Kozilek is blowing up the world, more like he's leaning forward to pick up his wallet or something.
