However, this is the sort of thing I can see Wizards doing. After all, they are the ones who gave all the sets in the Return to Ravnica block terrible names just so they could have the same RGD initials as the original Ravnica block.
Well, if the flavor texts are anything to go by, Sorin is about to take out all of that grief, all of that sadness, all of that RAGE, on one very VERY unfortunate lithomancer.
"When you have lost everything, you are at your most protected, because the enemy cannot take anything more from you."
As an aside, I would love to see a storyline/story where angels aren't jobbing to someone to make them look "strong." No other creature sub-type jobs harder than them, not even goblins.
You and me both. It doesn't make other characters look strong as much as it makes angels look weak.
Would have been more interesting if Olivia and her vampire army fought the angels while Sorin took care of Avacyn.
The Drownyard Temple story seems to link the madness with the cryptoliths.
The strength of the internal lodestone field in each monolith is able to distort local field lines and poles. Over time, we have received more reports of these formations, causing a net migration of our poles to a location just offshore. The disruptive properties of the stones appear to also extend to an ability to warp the flow of mana through the region, with potentially severe effects for beings composed of raw mana—particularly the angels of the plane. Perhaps there's more to Avacyn's madness...
That would only explain the madness for the angels and other mana races (like demons), not for the humans, vampires and others.
Not sure if anyone brought that up, but Nissa's Revelation (and her origin story) show that Emrakul is capable of emitting waves of madness. So Emrakul is likely the one causing the madness, and not Nahiri or the sea god.
Ugin was right.
Too bad people predicted Emrakul much earlier.
WotC had to predict people would guess Emrakul so if they hope it's a complete surprise they were kidding themselves. That said we may have a twist coming.
Emrakul is only obvious to those on MTG websites looking deep into the lore and analyzing all the tiny details. This is not the average player though. It's like in Game of Thrones/A Song of Fire and Ice where the R+L=J theory is painfully obvious to anyone looking for it, but not at all for the average show watcher/book reader.
Blah, blah, blah doesn't instantly snap eternal format, not going into my EDH decks, 0/10 #garbage
OT: Machinations is certainly an interesting card. Really screws with combat math. The gargoyle isn't that great. Would 3 to transform it have killed them?
a 4 mana 4/2 flier at uncommon without any colourrestriction? Yep, 3 to transform would have killed it.
Actually it's better than that, since you can attack for 4 in the air on turn 3. This is why MTGS users are not in charge of manacosts.
Nahiri's Machinations is the sort of card they don't make much of anymore (on-board tricks that make combat a nightmare for the other player). Definitely excited to try it out in draft. And hopefully with an Odric too!
However, this is the sort of thing I can see Wizards doing. After all, they are the ones who gave all the sets in the Return to Ravnica block terrible names just so they could have the same RGD initials as the original Ravnica block.

Search your library for a card, then shuffle your library and put that card on top of it. You lose 2 life.

Sorin's angst versus Emrakul!
Who will emerge victorious?

Can't blame anyone for not remembering that game.
