I also highly doubt Avacyn will be corrupted by Griselbrand for a couple of reasons:

    1. The set's name is Avacyn Restored
    2. The set's logo is Avacyn's collar, pure and untainted
    3. The set's name is written in a very smooth and soothing way that doesn't scream "your last hope has turned against you"
    4. The set's description from the Magic Toolbox says that the set is about humans and angels driving off the forces of darkness, which would be impossible without Avacyn

While a WB Avacyn is possible (like a UR one) I wouldn't bet more than a basic land on it.

I highly doubt Avacyn will be WB

The reason why Vault of the Archangel is partly black is not because Avacyn is, but because the vault is desolated.

You need a reason for Avacyn to be black, and there is nothing black about a benevolent angel that protects the weak and the innocents.

And no, wearing black armour or black makeup doesn't make a card black.

Sadly, I doubt we will see Gisa or Geralf in AVR. Mainly because in that letter exchange Savor the Flavor article, they were both represented by Wakedancer and Evil Twin respectively, and it seems odd to give them an avatar like that if they intend to give them an actual appearance later.

Plus, I feel that DKA would have been a much better set for those two. Slant

While WU humans are good, the intended WG humans are really lacking on the G side. In block, there is only one reason to play G in a human deck...

In DKA, WG only got one average card while every other allied colours got one average card, one very useful lord, and one very powerful mythic rare.

So yeah, my guess is that after AVR, WU humans are gonna be slightly better, while WG humans are gonna see a huge boost.

Who is to say Avacyn is a good guy anymore? From the picture she looks a bit sinister (but after learning about Sorin its to be expected.) It is still quite different from other art/statues of her. Helvault also puts all the creatures under a single person's control, not each of thier owners.

That whole "Avacyn turning against the humans" is a pretty popular theory right now, but it doesn't make much sense.

Just look at the set's font

It's so smooth and soothing, it really doesn't scream "end of humanity"

Also, the set's description from the Magic Toolbox:
The archangel Avacyn has returned! A bright, fiery dawn banishes Innistrad's shadows. Humanity takes up arms and drives back the creatures of the night. With flights of angels overhead, the righteous band together and wield holy light and miraculous magic to restore the balance to their world.

My guess is that humans will need to join forces to overcome evil.

This could leave place for some mechanics such as a reverse Morbid, extra things happening if you played a creature this turn, or creatures coming into play stronger if you played another creature this turn.

I can also imagine cards having a more powerful effect if you have a certain number of creatures in play. It could be worded like "Union 2 - This creature gains +2/+2 as long as you control 2 or more other creatures."

I think both mechanics could be nice, as they encourage playing creatures.

    We could also get Banding...

What if it's a new version of an old planewalker - maybe even spirit/zombie lilliana Smile

I love the idea of a spirit planeswalker! Like... even after evil is destroyed following the events of Avacyn Restored, Saint Traft's spirit cannot rest knowing that evil lurks in every corners of the multiverse, so he becomes a planeswalker, smiting evil all across the multiverse with his angel at his side!

Sadly, I doubt it will happen. But I can always settle for a showdown between Mikaeus' spirit and his animated corpse in AVR! Grin

Of course with flying, trample, intimadate, indestructible, hexproof, and when it deals damage to a player, put 5 1/1 red devils into play... And BBBBBBBBBBBBB for +13/+0 isn't bad...

How about 6 6/6 devils? Wink

153/158? That would make Jar of Eyeballs the last artifact... It doesn't seem very plausible.

Now that I look at it, the picture wasn't taken from the Dark Ascension trailer.

Wouldn't that be a Legendary Land?

Parallel Lives' effect doesn't create any tokens. You can think of it as an effect that modifies other effects. In this case, it modifies the effect of Seance, causing it to make 2 tokens instead of 1. (This is the same as the interaction with Geist of St. Traft.)

    I see. Makes sense. Thanks.

I've made an account just to ask one question that bugged me.

How does it work with Parallel Lives? It should make a second token, but that token was made with Parallel Lives' effect, not Séance's, so is the second token exiled at the end of the turn?
