Well, I'm a big fan of fruit in general. Citrus fruits especially.
However, the purpose of this inquiry being to determine which is the best fruit, my personal feelings on the subject may be momentarily put aside. First let's consider what experts have said on the topic. Immanuel Kant, prominent 18th century philosopher, wrote about the topic in Critique of Pure Reason:
This was written in direct response to Kant's sceptical predecessor, David Hume(1711-1776), who wrote, in An Inquiry on Human Nature:
Given the lack of empirical data on the topic, and the voices that have spoken, I am given to wonder if the question can be answered at all. The immortal questions that have plagued the human consciousness since the dawn of time---apples v oranges, licks to tootsie pop goodness, and whether Furor has a life at all---shall perhaps never be solved. Perhaps it's for the best. The answers may disturb us more than the questions themselves.
Perhaps we should look to Heidegger to solve this quandry!
Quote from Heidegger »
Apples as Being-There
Apples truly exist, yet their "being-there" {Dasein} is subject to a systematic, radical uncertainty. Because we know that Apples will die, concern with the annihilation of apples is an ever-present feature of our experience: Fruit is the key to Existence. The only genuine question is why Apples are at all. Once we experience the joy[!?!] of dread of Apples, we recognize that our lives are limited—and therefore shaped—by Apples.
In just the same way, Heidegger argued, so Apples is what shapes Being generally. This reveals the most fundamental, transcendent reality, beyond all notions of what-is slipping over into what-is-not. Even in the historical tradition, according to Heidegger, Apples are shown to be the concomitant rather than the opposite of Being. The only genuine philosophical question is why there is something rather than just Apples.
I've been meaning to pose this question for a while now, and this seems like the appropiate thread.
As we know, micro-evolution is an observed fact, even advocates of ID acknowledge this. Macro-evolution on the other hand, is not. Macro-evolution is an explanation made on inferences drawn from observed facts.
So the question I have is, is it possible to infer that something has been intelligently designed?
I don't know the answer, btw.
It is very possible to infer such, but one must question the logical probability of the universe being designed by an intelligence. Moreover, the nature of said intelligence (Beneovlent, angry, uninterested, or otherwise) must remain entirely out of the problem.
To wit: The Argument would look something like this.
Premises.
A. The Universe exists
B. Everything that "exists" must be "created"
:. Conclusion1: The universe was created.
C. Call philosophical rule: A-Posterori. We do not know how the Universe was created.
D. Call proof: PHI. The Divine Constant. (1:1.618). We do know that the universe contains mathematical and biological elements that interact precisely.
E. We, an aspect / part / piece of "Creation", are self aware.
...
et cetera. And the points go on and on.
Unfortunately, the theory of intelligent design cannot in any way explain the nature of the proposed Divine intelligence. Q.E.D.
Hello. The names Dave and Im glad to be here. Looks like a stellar place to talk shop!
I currently hail from Ottawa, and go to the University of Ottawa, if any of you are from that area, or Ottawa in general, drop a line, I probably know you!
In Appr testing, I found that I really wanted a couple flames of the blood hand in the Main. I used them at the end of turn more often than Shrapnel Blast, and they were very reliable. I often found myself holding a Jet, and wanting a Flames to power up a very annoying pain's reward... 4 damage is just easier than two damage in terms of setting up the reward. Plus it allowed me to Pains reward early on for a high amount with pulse in hand. The opponent usually didnt overbid, and I would grab a fistful of 4+ dmg spells... -1 Jet -1 something -1 something +3 Flames of the blood hand?
The thing that makes this deck work so wonderfully is that it can win without having a certain piece. It can win without Heartbeat, Myojin, or Memories. The biggest card in this deck is prolly Greater Good. On average, it nets me about 30 cards alone off of it. I falter maybe 3 out of ten times, and everyt ime I do saccing something like a Verdant Force to it gets me back up to speed. Greater Good is absolutely nuts, and I'm glad I found a way to break it.
Matchups:
MUC: This starts out pretty hard, and your best bet is prolly running them down on counters, then dropping as many things as you can. With a single Heartbeat out, all there soft counters (ie Leak, Condescend) are useless, making them rely on there 8 hard copies (4 Rewind, 4 Hinder). Plus, it's always nice to laugh at 3 Shackles on the board. Game 2 gets a lot easier, with Dosan coming in. A second turn Dosan makes them scoop, every single time, wether they Shackle it or not.
I would never scoop to dosan playing MUC. I would shackle him, and you would swing and let me play stuff again, or you wont swing, and Ill go find my moaning well, and sit there grinning at you.
Superb.
highest score on the first one after 5 minutes was 2453.
Dismal I know.
