Guys, we got some new cards to mess with. Anybody trying to revive this deck? I've spent the better part of today working on a Bant or W/U list. I spent one minute on the mana base, so you may think it needs tweaking. Which is fine, your input is appreciated.
Looking at it now it seems a little clunky. It's probably trying too hard with the antiquities war in there, but I thought it was the best way to win earlier today. I still do lean towards The Antiquities War to be a great finisher, but the Angels are there, too. Ha! Oh well, let's move on to the Bant list; where Multani, Yavimaya's Avatar was hoping to shine here.
Neither one of these decks have been playtested, just a few solitaire hands. They both seem kinda clunky, but better than some of the decks I tried a few months ago. Like the turbofog-o-geddon deck I tried making.
I had a build with more creatures, Remorseful Cleric and Wayward Swordtooth were in there along with Sylvan AwakeningLlanowar Scout was considered as well, but I took all that out before doing my solo plays and draws. The idea was to also run Vivien Reid to fish out the dino, spirit, or lands. I spent too much time on trying to get that to look right to me.
Scapeshift can really thin us out, helps our draws off of our walkers, and drop bigger Multani, Yavimaya's Avatar most likely using the gateway. It's nice because you can bounce the 'geddon right after you cast it with the gateway, gilded lotus out with a blink of the eye. These decks will need tweaking, but let me know if you think it's garbage or if you're just straight up certain it will suck.
I wanted to get these lists up here to see what you guys thought, or if you'd like to playtest with me and see if we can get this deck up and running. We've got a lot of new spells to play with so I hope we can get it going.
I really like what @xaltair was preaching on 19May2018. Perhaps red is the way to go.
I see you're new here, welcome! I'm returning after a long break from MTG and had to relearn how to use our sweet features and tools. There are a lot of tutorials, some you may need to look in the FAQ. Click FORUMS ->COMMUNITY FORUMS ->FORUM SOFTWARE FEEDBACK... -> SIGNATURE & SITE TUTORIALS.
It's hard to find at first, so hopefully this helps. Sweet deck, we're building Sagageddon decks over here. Come check it out and join the conversation.
I just went 0-3 against mono green stompies, I didn't get to 'geddon in two games though. Green stompies is too fast. The game I did get to 'geddon in, though, was awesome. If he didn't already have huge fatties on the board I would've been in a great position. I think with a protection/removal we could have a decent deck here.
I almost want to splash green for foggin' and add a mass removal spell or two. I never got to play mirage mirror, so I can't say how sweet it is but... idk. What I'm saying here is that I may do a similar build with a few different spells. Lyra would've been dope but there's nothing you can do when they Blossoming Defense their Steel Leaf Champion. Steely is just a face masher.
I had a feeling quick beasties would be tough for this deck, but when is it easy against big fast nasties? I want to do some more testing with this build and see if I can get some more cards on the board so I know the full scope of what you built here. That being said I want to continue thinking about a GW build of basically this deck with fog/removal.
Again, thanks for the list! It was fun to play :]
Edit: Started messing around with cards but really, I think the mono white build is good just going to add a few removal spells I think. I'll report back soon.
I'm going to try this out. Might try a Settle the Wreckage in there MD. Maybe in place of a Sentinel Totem but I'm not totally sure yet. I can't test tonight, but hopefully before the end of the week I can report back and let you know how it went.
Also, my GW list was a little too "do nothingy." Games went on forever with all the fogging, and the wins I had came off the backs of Approach of the Second Sun and Sylvan Awakening (one dude wished he could have footage of that game because it was so nuts. he was milling me trying to get rid of approach, after casting huge creatures. his deck was modern, but w/e) despite the 'geddon; not because of the 'geddon. Just throwing that out there. Thanks for the list I'm looking forward to trying this one.
If you're going full blown superfriends, I'd drop a couple of those counterspells for Dovin Baan. I saw a guy playing a superfriends Bant deck on YT earlier today and Dovin was pretty good against aggro. Plus he's more card draw, and if you actually get to ultimate him, like say you play Oath of Teferi, that stasis lockdown emblem is sick.
I admire your dedication to the deck! What do you play test on? I need to get cockatrice or a similar program so I can play test too. I also updated the deck that had Sram in it. Yeah, Ancient Animus would be awesome if it didn't require legendary.
Sram wont help draw cards, the various Exile enchantments aren't Auras.
Ugh, feeling kinda dumb right now. Treasure map is a good option, I picked up two today at my LGS Yeah, I'm worried that for this 'geddon to be viable we have to go full blown superfriends.
Edited post because I misunderstood Sram, see below... this version has more fogging. I was considering Pressure Point for the card draw, but posted the Commencement of Festivities. I'm hoping to playtest this one soon.
Hey guys, have you seen the Mono White version of Sagageddon? There's a mtggoldfish video on YT where he describes the deck made by a goldfish user named Lex. It looks pretty cool, but I think we're better off with the one sided 'geddon. I'm thinking something like this...
I haven't play tested it or anything but I wanted to get it out here because I think this direction is a good one to head in. I could probably drop a couple of creatures for some land but this is a first draft out of all of the thinking and reading I've done on this deck idea. Happy brewing guys, can't wait to blow up lands!
Edit: I was thinking of playing Slice in Twain instead of Broken Bond or even dropping that stuff for Sram, Senior Edificer, what do you guys think? Might be good if we play more exile type Auras.
Last night I made a list of possible bant cards for a Sagageddon deck. The list has a couple of different approaches for the deck in mind, mainly because I didn't know where to start. It also contains sideboard options. I like the idea of slowing the opponent down with tap effects and such, but the more I look at the cards I'm just not sure that's possible. Maybe you guys will get a good laugh at some of my picks, but maybe it'll spark an idea in your heads. I still haven't seen at a lot of the cards in standard so I'm sure there are a lot more you guys can think of that would be better. Here goes.
Yeah, I'm actually just now getting back in to magic after not having played since mid Gatecrash. I'd read some articles every few months but that info didn't stick with me. I have a list of like thirty cards on my notepad with their CMC next to the name. It'a bant list and I'm using gatherer sifting through cards. I'm trying to narrow it down to a workable amount of cards with a decent curve and answers for threats while trying to stay the course of the combo. It's hard, maybe I'll post the list here and we can ditch the trash a lot faster. If you guys want to see the list I'll post it but please remember I don't know what's really going on in standard right now.
TechnoWriter hit the nail on the head, I just can't seem to fit it all in.
In high school, my friends and I didn't go to FNM, draft, or even know about formats and DCI numbers until we were about 17. We got all the cards we could through buying packs, or making crazy trades for large amounts of old cards that were mostly junk. We didn't really know any better, we just wanted more cards. Anyway, when I was about fifteen years old I specifically built a deck to get my best friend upset. He was a bit of a showboater when he'd win, but he didn't really have any reason to be. We beat each other about 50/50.
I made a deck I figured (in my silly young head) none of my friends could deal with. It was mostly burn spells and counters, this was fifteen years ago but I still remember a lot of the cards. It was a zero creature U/R counter/burn.
Those and a slew of good old burns and counters. Say what you will, but this deck won a lot at the kitchen table. It was the kind of deck that nobody wants to play against and I made it specifically for that. I beat him a lot with it and gloated, thinking I was proving a point. Pretty rude thing to do. In hindsight I should have just told him he was being rude. When you secretly plot to upset someone as a petty form of revenge, a lot of the time they don't understand why. You'll just end up looking like a jerk and the issue will never get solved. I didn't understand this at 15, I wasn't a good communicator.
This turned into a long post, thanks for sticking it out!
Went 3-0-1 at FNM. Split in the 4th round. We played anyway, and each game he got a Blind Obedience. Him 2-0. All my other matches were pretty easy. First round was against Home brew Evolve. Second was against UW flashy type deck. Third against Grixis Homebrew. 4th against Esper control, he just had answers for everything, and early game Blind Obedience, late game CODH really shut me down, otherwise I think I could've taken him.
Blind Obedience is nasty. It really hurts our current deck, but that's okay, we'll also change with Gatecrash. What do you guys think about this newly spoiled card?
