Feb 4, 2014Druki posted a message on Launch Giveaway!Spirit of the Night. When I was starting out, I loved big big creatures but black was my go-to color. This ended up with me doing some sort of shenanigan to get them out a little bit quicker, like playing multiple rituals out or reanimating them. While cards like Avatar of Woe or Scion of Darkness are some of my faves, Spirit is my favorite. If anything, it just has a weird but creepy/cool art.Posted in: Announcements

Would it be possible for him to gain a spark from outside means (like Karn)? Very likely Niv didn't have a spark at the end of the original Ravnica block, but couldn't he gain one somehow over the course of time?
I know what happened to Karn and the situation that led up to it is very unique, but that leads me to believe that sparks are not permanent to the planeswalkers they started with (originally Urza's spark, now Venser's). Niv is probably smart enough to work some of the minor details out.
Unfortunately, Infinite Reflection doesn't work with tokens. But with seven mentors, you'll still be able to have a lot of countering power.
---
How about Infinite Reflection (on anything cool) + Reassembling Skeleton? Would it still enter the graveyard tapped from its graveyard ability?
While we're at it with graveyard fun times, why not Infinite Reflection on a cool zombie with Gravecrawlers in the grave?
Apologies if this has been brought up before.
Correction: You have to control both of them.
So yeah, you can Mind Control an enemy's creature and then pair them, but they'll lose the benefit should the Mind Control get disenchanted.
Although the non-target part is very cool.
Bolded is the important part.
So...
Nicol Bolas will be in the Core Set? Will that imply that multi-colored cards will also be in it (to support his multi-colored cost)?
See, my experience with Elves and planeswalkers is that they tend to draw a lot of aggro really quickly, quicker than usual. Nissa is pretty much in there to take some aggro off everything else. I'm not really expecting to get her ultimate off but hopefully one or two of her life gaining ability. That's kind of why I want the Oracle in there. But I might take them out to make room for other things, idk.
As for taking out Privileged/Recollect, I like it. I have more Privileged so I might move it to the sideboard if I can't find anyone with Kira's.
How many Overrun's would you recommend? Two? Or would Ezuri be better?
Also, what are your thoughts on Twinblade Slasher? Should I replace it with a different one drop, like Ezuri's Archers?
This is kind of a lot to do with only a day before the PTQ. I may have to go to a later one. D:
also, lol title reads U/B elves instead of UG
Voice of the Woods was what I originally used before Lorwyn came out. o: Great minds, eh?
I really like Coiling Oracle. This deck could use some draw power, considering I could empty a bunch of elves onto the board at any time.
If I do end up using Voidslime/Kira, would you recommend I change my mana ratio?
This Saturday I plan on attending my first PTQ. While I don't expect to get very far, I do want to have some fun and at least win a round. So, I come to you guys for some tips and general advice/help.
I'm running a UG Elf deck that used to be a casual legacy deck that I recently modified with the introduction of the Modern format.
4 Hinterland Harbor
12 Forest
4 Island
Creatures
4 Llanowar Elves
4 Imperious Perfect
3 Elvish Archdruid
3 Twinblade Slasher
3 Bramblewood Paragon
3 Immaculate Magistrate
3 Joraga Warcaller
2 Oracle of Nectars
2 Nissa's Chosen
4 Intruder Alarm
3 Elvish Promenade
2 Recollect
1 Privileged Position
3 Nissa Revane
Basically, this wants to go infinite whenever possible. This is achieved on a smaller level via Intruder Alarm and Imperious Perfect but goes off completely with a Llanowar or Archdruid out to supply the infinite mana. Infinite creatures, swing for the win.
Thrown in is also Joraga Warcaller which can benefit from large amounts of mana (via Intruder + Archdruid). Helping him is Immaculate Magistrate. Bramblewood is a source for trample on the Warcaller and any other elves that get a counter on them (such as the elves that may come in from a Promenade).
Oracle of Nectars buys time with life. Again, large amounts of mana supplied from the combo.
As everything is very targetable and things can go very wrong, Privileged Position is in there just in case.
Also, not included in the deck is Helix Pinnacle as I haven't had a chance to go pick it up yet. This is an alternate win-con, rather than having to rely on swinging creatures.
So, thoughts? Can it win against some of the current meta? What would you change and why? Sideboard? Should I run a little bit of control since there's blue in there? Is it just awful and should I not even bother?
Also, if you can post links to decklists when talking about the meta, that'd be very much appreciated as I'm not up to date on some of the newer ones.
Thanks!
What if each Intro Pack had double-faced cards? So far each color has at least one.
I think what he meant was that dying on its "light" side would be it's trigger to transform. There would be no ability to transform it from dark to light.
Which could be interesting, depending on how its played around with.
Possibly to do with Magic's 20th Anniversary. Wikipedia lists the modern anniversary gift as platinum for the 20th year.
And honestly we can probably expect Platinum Angel to reappear.
Apologies for not finding it before-hand.
If the stars align, the best turn order ends up like this:
Turn 1: land, Silver-Inlaid Dagger
Turn 2: land, Stalker
Turn 3: land, Tainted Strike (waiting for the counter), then equip the Stalker and swing for 5 poison
Turn 4: repeat of turn 3
Again, not expecting that to happen ever, but that was the idea that started me on this deck.
9 Island
6 Swamp
4 Invisible Stalker
4 Blighted Agent
4 Silver-Inlaid Dagger
2 Inquisitor's Flail
4 Mana Leak
2 Gitaxian Probe
3 Ponder
3 Phyresis
4 Dismember
2 Mental Misstep
4 Tainted Strike
4 Go for the Throat
1 Grave Titan
2 Frost Titan
1 Chancellor of the Spires
2 Curiosity
1 Ponder
3 Disentomb
3 Vapor Snag
2 Think Twice
Apologies for the condition of the sideboard. Haven't really had a chance to sit down and figure out what I want in there exactly. Except for the big creatures, I want to slide those bad boys in there once my opponent sideboards most of his removal.
Advice? Should I keep infecting cards? Has a deck like this been done? Is this just terrible and should be scrapped? If you can leave an explanation of your advice (the metagame you're using, like Pro-Tour or your FNM for example), that'd be awesome. It'd help me out tons.
Thanks!
