The reason it seems highly Dante-esque is because Dante specifically talks about Limbo. He states, in the first Canto I believe(maybe a little later, I haven't read it for a while), that Limbo is the first ring of Hell. Even though no torturing of souls takes place there, it is a part of Hell because to be in Limbo is to be in the absence of God, which is Hell.
Yes, Limbo was never an official doctrine.
Yes, Limbo was officially declared incorrect by Vatican II. So I don't really understand why a fuss is being raised now...
Being the perpetual lurker, none of you know me, but I know many of you. (creepy, huh? )
Let it be known that all speculation in this post is based off of the two beliefs I have:
1. The purplies are real(Yes, this commonly accepted now, but it is worth noting.)
2. They will be legal in standard(this is key, this a belief I hold based off of the idea that it whenever wizards prints something in a booster it will be type two legal, there are other reasons, but that's for a different thread.)
Now, these purplies being spoiled in bursts of 3 or so are making start to suspect something. They're making me suspect that wizards, as part of their overall anti-leak campaign is purposefully planting false leaks. I mean, for heavens sake, Psychic Blast? That's utterly rediculous! Now, I didn't want to bog down that thread calling fake when Hydro has confirmed them, and I have faith in Hydro, but I'm afraid I lack faith in his sources.
What do you think? Is it possible our collective legs are being pulled?
Common sense, and stated beliefs of R&D, would dictate that they WOULD reprint Force of Will in one of the pre-cons. Observe, and be amazed JayC, at this logical argument that relies on no one's opinion, except, of course, those of people who matter:
Argument Part 1:
Given
That: Wizards has stated multiple times that they wish to support Legacy and develop it into a popular format.
And
That: Wizards has backed up this claim by printing the very playable, and very accessible, dual lands over the course of the Ravnica block, to make such cards available to the legacy players.
Therefore:
Wizards will actually make decisions that will positively benefit the Legacy format.
Argument Part 2:
Given
That: Wizards will actually make decisions that will positively benefit the Legacy format.
And
That: One of the essential cards of the Legacy format is Force of Will.
Therfore:
Wizards will make a decision that will allow Force of Will to be accessible for legacy players.
Argument Part 3:
Given
That: Wizards will make a decision that will allow Force of Will to be accessible for legacy players.
And
That: Large retailers such as Walmart, Target, et al. will always sell the Pre-Cons for an accessible $10 USD each.
Therefore:
Wizards will print Force of Will in a Pre-Con deck.
Of course, the world so rarely uses logic. Things would be so much easier if people weren't so asinine, making comments like: "Blah blah blah..." (Something I know no self-respecting member of these boards would do.) And instead actually were respectful enough to think about other people's arugments instead of wallowing in their own egotistical self-aggrandizement.
This logical argument might actually turn out to be wrong, thanks to some inscrutable variable Wizard's has access to that I don't. But in the end, I am still better for bothering to think.
Okay, I just want confirmation on this. I was told, by a more knowledgable player than I, that Sunforger is not able to fetch and play, say, the Ends half of Odds // Ends, even though it is both red/white and CMC = 2(<4), both of those characteristics must be on the same half, he says.
Bringing the total to 39, far more than Onslaught's 9 or Odyssey's 15. So even without the signets and signature artifacts, Rav still has more than its predecessors.
One minor nitpick about STE: It does not, in fact, give card advantage by itself. The only time it does so is when you chump block an X/1 with it and fetch a land. Othewise, it nets zero:
To play: -1 Card in Hand + 1 creature = 0
To sac: -1 creature + 1 land = 0
Chumps: -1 creature + 1 land - -1 Opponent's Creature = +1
Kodama's Reach, on the other hand, does inherantly net CA.
To play: -1 CiH + 1 Land + 1 CiH = +1
I'm sorry, but STE does NOT compare to Eternal Witness, Blossoms, or Elder.
Also, there is the matter to consider of card quality, of which lands typically rate low(unless you're currently screwed) which is not accounted for in the Card Advantage theory.
No relevant game anecdote to provide. I was talking to some guys a FNM last night, and a question came up involving card searches:
Is it possible to fail to find a card with Diabolic Tutor?
I said no, because it is an unqualified search, but I was told by a much more knowledgeable person there that it is possible to fail any search. Is this correct?
Here's a question, assuming one is running any combination of Supply & Demand, Voidslime, Simic Sky Swallower, and Windreaver, is Pillar of the Paruns worth running? I've been pondering its viability as a 2 or 3-of to help stabilize the manabase, but then I realized that most of the important spells are typically mono-colored. Then I began to think more highly of multi-colored cards, because they make the pillar better, and then I realized I was being an idiot.
I'd like to point out that the Scarab doesn't set you back a draw if you have 1 open, as you sac it to draw, it goes to the graveyard, and you draw the scarab and dredge, net CA=0. Not -1, as Solace seems to think. Makes it a bit better by most estimations...
I don't think it looks like cybernetics. Actually, it reminds me much more chitin, and other sorts of exoskeletons. I.e. Lobsters, crabs, insects, etc.
