  • posted a message on Persist and Undying
    Hello,

You control the Triggers for the Messanger so you decide the order they go on the stack. If you put the Undying trigger on first then the Persist he will come back with -1/-1 counter and if you do it reverse Persist then Undying he comes back with a +1/+1 counter.

Yes, the second trigger tries to resolves, doesn't see the messanger and fizzles.

This works as an infinte combo with any Persist creature and Mikeaus, The Unhallowed.

  • posted a message on Ball Lightning + Nim Deathmantle
The simple answer is yes, you can pay 4 and put the Ball lightning back in play with the Nim Deathmantle's trigger.

HOWEVER, the Oracle Text on Ball Lightning says "At the beginning of the end step, sacrifice Ball Lightning." This will trigger on every end step including your opponents. ( As opposed to it saying: At the beginning ofr YOUR end step.) So you will have to sacrifice the Ball Lightning again at the beginning of your opponents end step. If you have the mana, you can use the Nim Deathmantle's ability again and keep looping Ball Lightning.

    Hope this helps!

  • posted a message on Need more info about tap target creature
Once you move to your Combat step, Priority is passed to your opponent before Attackers are declared, at this time your opponent can use his creatures ability (as long is it doesn't have summoning sickness). Then you declare whose attacking.

A shortcut that is sometimes taken is players will move from their Main Phase straight to declaring attackers shortcutting the priority passed when moved to Combat Step. This confusion can be easily avoided by anouncing "moving to combat" to your opponent. This consitutes the pass in priority and if he does not respond then with his creatures ability and passes back to you, then you declare attackers and it's too late for him to use the ability to Tap a creature.

    Hope this helps!

Yup. You have the wrath idea right. They are not being targeted.

With the blasphemous act it says that blasphemous act deals 13 damage to all creature. Blasphemous Act is a red source and with protection from red your creatures cannot be dealt damage by a red source.

  • posted a message on Post Rotation Deck Idea! (U/G Counters)
SO I am trying to come up with a few deck ideas to start out with post rotation. Just want to see what people thoughts are on this U/G Counters deck idea.

I'm interested in what people think and some suggestions on things I may have missed? I haven't thought about sideboard at all because we don't know the meta.

I also thought about testing out Vorel, the Hull Clad in there as a 1 or 2 of, interested in thoughts on that as well?

Was anyone watching the SCG stream last night when one of the announcers (not sure which) made a slip and called a Farseek a thoughtseize? This was during round 6 the Jund Vs. Jund match-up mirror.

He went on to correct himself then said " in a few eeks that will be thoughtseize in standard".....

Maybe he has some inside information he leaked on accident?? I hope so as I need a couple to complete my playset I had sold. Smile

  • posted a message on Life gain with Trostani and Rhox faithmender
I have a quick question. If I have a trostani, selesnya's voice on board and I play a rhox faithmender do I gain 5 or 10 life from the faithmender?

Does it work like, trostanis ability triggers seen rhoxs toughness at 5 but then when it resolves I would gain 5 life but gain 10 instead BC now rhox is on the battlefield. Or am I way off?

What's better as a side board option? Threads of disloyalty or vedalken shackles? Bc you're right I could definitely save pain by using the fastlands..

Exactly DOLzero, that's why I chose smother over terminate

Yeah I have thought about using terminate instead of smother and its probably the better choice, from playtesting against myself (not a great indicator really) I have noticed that blightning seems expensive and I hardly want to play it, especially when I want to be sitting on a counter spell, ill probably go to 1 of with that. I have also noticed that, I can spend a lot of life real quick with the shocks, fetched and BoB, maybe taking out 1-2 of the creeping tar pit and adding more basics will help with that. (this was playtesting against my standard zombies deck, which is quick and resilient, so again not a great indicator)

What are thoughts on using rune snag or remand over mana leak? I went with leaks mostly bc I didn't have the others, but I thing rune snag might be the way to go?

Also I'd like more lily and/or another bonfire but I'm not sure what to take out for them? Maybe a BoB?

Also which is a better call in the average metagame? spell snare or spell pierce?

Hello all, this is my first attempt at a Modern deck, I've seen a couple different plays on Grixis Decks but I wanted to post mine here and see if I could get some feedback on what I can do to change/make it better, as I have no knowledge of the Modern metagame. Thank you all in advance!

Here is my current list, I have not tested it yet as there aren't many Modern players around here:

Please offer your constructive criticism, I am open to suggestions, especiually since the Modern metagame is unknown to me. Thanks!

  • posted a message on [SCD] Angelic Destiny
I decided to add 1 lone one to my token deck at my last FNM and I loved it. Even with just the one, I got lucky and saw it at least once in every match (not game, Match) and it just won games for, I mean a few times I'd go, T1 Doomed Traveler, T2 Anthem (Virtue was the best), T3 Splicer, and T4 Destiny on Golem 7/7 Flying, first Strike, Vigilance.
Or even: T1, CoP, T2 Townfolks (Swing 3), T3 Honor of the Pure/Traveler (swing 9), T4 Destiny on CoP (Swing 9 in the air, 6 on foot) GG.

The reason I liked it and will be running 2 with 2/3 Heros is that I found I would do a lot of small damage up to the point I was able to lay it, it would be unexpected and dealing an additional 4 damage the turn it comes in, and with vigilant tokens, allows for a big blocker, with First Strike on your opponents turn. I'm not downing Hero at all, but you have to wait an extra turn for her to actually do damage and she is easier to chump block bc your opponent is expecting it. (Gives them a turn to plan for her attack).

I just found that I liked Angelic Destiny, and it was very unexpected to my opponents and won me games. Has anyone else tried it before? What we're your results?

  • posted a message on [developing] choice - R/U proliferate
I definitely agree that Fling is a much better choice. At it's worse your just throwing 13 damage at them in response to their removal.

What about possibly running a couple Mutigenic Growths to help with your alternate Wincon? You can use them to get in 2 extra poison counters with Inkmoth or Blighted Agent, with no cost to you. If you run only 2 maybe 3 the Sphere of the suns would have been able to cover that, or just pay the life if you can afford to.

Just a couple more ideas, I too have been thinking of ways to break Test Subject, i think back to the proliferate/lux cannon/inexonerable tide set up, it just seems to slow in the meta now though..

  • posted a message on [Variant] W/B Vampires and Humans
This is very similar to the deck I have been running for a few weeks.

I have done very good with this deck (small tweaks here and there) only lost one match to Spirit Delver when I first put this deck together. I have noticed that I personally am not a big fan of the Bloodline Keeper in it, I thought it was a great component and that's why I added him, but I have noticed that my games don't tend to go late game enough to have the turn 6 Bloodline flip and I also notice I'm always at a loss for which turn 4 play to make every game.

The 1of Angelic Destiny was a late add-in before last week, and it just won me games, I found it was more/unexpected flying damage when put on my 3/3 first Golem, swinging for 8 on turn 4 with vigilance to block next turn, versus waiting an additional turn for the bloodline or Hero. I also noted with the Bloodline that I wasn't attacking with him and saving him to always pump out a token, in an attempt to flip him as soon as possible, and that would be cutting down the damage per turn and prolonging the game. (Probably bad play on my part).
I am thinking of cutting out the Bloodlines and adding another Destiny, and the Champion and Doomed traveler back in.

The 1 Elspeth has worked great, she is usually a board wipe on my opponents end and allows me to get in for that last big of damage, she does wipe my enchantments, that's why she a 1of and I only activate her wipe ability when all I need is that bit. And the 2 Days have just been in there since I started to help maintain with the Delver, and wolf run decks that are floating around, plus as a token deck we can recover from that nicely. (Swing for damage, Day, play more spells and have plenty of creatures for the next attack.)

Overall I have loved this deck and as I said has worked very well for me, that being said I don't get much of a chance to play competitively and my LGS only has about 3 or 4 other players with competitive decks, most are home brews that people come up.

Have you ran this deck yet with the Bloodline Keeper? Has it been successful? It just seemed like such a logical placement to me in a B/W Token deck, I just haven't had good luck with it, and have only flipped him once when I got 2 out on the board. Let me know your experiences I'm interested to see if he works for other people. Thanks! -J
