  • posted a message on Website for viewing prices over time?
I'm curious to see if there's a website that keeps track of the general prices of cards over a period of time. I'm curious to see the price impacts and trends on particular modern staples - I noticed that Kitchen Finks is $3 cheaper per card now that Modern Masters is out, and that includes the non-MM version.

    Thanks in advance!

Do you see Ghostly Flicker recieving a ban in pauper? In the cloudpost/fissure storm decks it sees play in, it turns an otherwise close matchup for most decks into an oppressive match

Cool, thanks man! I enjoy sealed a little less but I may give it a shot. I really wish they had more support for phantom drafts of a bunch of sets. I'd pay for that without question.

I would too. Maybe one day....

I was hoping that someone here could help me with some questions I had about the phantom drafts. I love to draft and love how these phantom drafts sound as I'm not interested in collecting cards online and I'm on a budget. How often do these phantom drafts happen and how much do they cost? I'd like to be able to get online and just draft whenever I'd like, especially for a couple bucks, but I wanted to make sure I could actually do that before purchasing an account on MTGO.

    Thanks.

As far as I know, Phantom Drafts aren't offered very frequently, and when they are, it's when they have the MTGO Cube up. (I also believe that they will be doing Phantom Modern Masters Swiss, but that is another story.)

They do offer Phantom Sealeds. Those cost four tickets each ($1 per ticket so $4 total) and if you go 2-1 (three out of the eight people will go 2-1) you get one booster which can be traded to a bot for around tickets (I recommend using the same bot every time because they store fractions of tickets - the booster will be worth 3.1 tickets or something like that and the bot will store .1 as credit). So, going 2-1 means that in order to do your next sealed, it will cost you $1.

Going 3-0 will give you three boosters and a QP (which are used for qualifiers in a monthly tournament). The three boosters will net you about 9-10 tickets, making your next sealed essentially free.

Basically, being in the top 50% of your pod makes doing another event much cheaper. I highly recommend doing phantom events, even though you don't get to keep the cards, because, for me, it's usually one ticket for three hours of entertainment, and I usually go 2-1, making my next event cheap.

And even if you don't place in the top 50%, you didn't miss out on much. It's only four tickets for the next one.

On a related note, Swiss drafts are similar (but more expensive). While Swiss doesn't give out as many prizes as the 8-4s, you are almost guaranteed to get one pack, making it $10 for the next Swiss draft instead of $16. Going 2-1 makes it $6 for the next draft instead, and going 3-0 makes it $2 for the next draft. This doesn't include the value of the cards that you get to keep. I also recommend doing Swiss drafts because you do get to play all three rounds and there is a good chance to go 2-1, and a $6 draft is much better than a $16 one.

I would prefer AvB in foil,
But the other thread says it's original art Frown

If they did it AvB in foil, I would be soooo happy. (But it'd probably be worth so much because it'd be super rare.)

I apologize if this is the wrong section.

Lightning Helix was spoiled as being reprinted in Modern Masters. I couldn't find a picture of the spoiled card, and I wanted to know if it is getting new artwork, original Ravnica artwork, or the Duel Deck art (in my opinion, the best version).

Could someone help me find this out?

Well, I was really looking forward to playing this set a lot, but for double prices and non-redeemable cards, I won't be playing any Modern Masters now. I am extremely disappointed that they would charge so much for this, considering that it's online and you can't swap it to paper.

I hope this set flops (and Kamigawa dragons at mythic? Don't even get me started...). I want this to be such a failure so that something like this never happens again (with the limited print run/high costs).

Guess I'll stick to actual Modern...

  • posted a message on Is MTGO the quickest way to improve competitive play?
I'd recommend it. While the cost is there, it improved my magic game tremendously with the rules engine. I now have a better understanding of the stack and priority, and some lesser known rules like casting a fused Give/Take on a creature enchanted with Runner's Bane doesn't remove the enchantment because the enchantment's validity isn't checked during the resolution of the spell.

I've been purchasing from MTGOTraders for quite a while, and the service is excellent. Quality prices, and extra discounts for paypal/being a part of mtgsalvation. Custom bulk orders are easy to do. And if on their website they show that a card is out of stock? PM them in game and they'll check if their bots have it, and if they do, they'll transfer them online for an easy purchase.

This store is an excellent place to make your purchases.

  • posted a message on survey suggesting Mtgo GPs.
I took the survey and I would LOVE to see GPs online. It wouldn't quite be the same as a real life one, but it would be awesome!

Also, integrated planeswalker points would be cool.

They didn't need quotes, there are whole cards based off his work.

Heh. Me looking for something in particular caused me to miss the obvious.

Yes, because they've never broken any of their own "rules" before Rolleyes

I certainly hope so. I want to see some ancient Greek and Roman writing in a set based off of the Greek and Romans. I will admit to being disappointed at no Edgar Allan Poe quotes in the Innistrad block (at least none that I can remember).

I was just browsing through older cards, and I noticed that quite a few of them had flavor texts with literary works from Poe, Dickinson, etc. That's something I haven't noticed in any of the modern sets. Personally, I find it quite nice to see good works on cards. Will Wizards ever return to printing literary works on their cards?

And, considering the next block, will we see quotes from the Iliad, Odyssey, etc?
