Hadn't seen this posted anywhere yet. It came as an extra in Teferi's Time Trouble: purchased 4 and received it and 3x of the Jumpstart archeology island.

Finally found my order in my Cancelled orders, with the message "Your payment didn't go through, so the order was cancelled. Please pay for this item again." I am not sure why it would not have gone through. I never got this message before in dozens of Ebay transactions.
It is unfortunate, I guess I am not getting anything.

That was a common scenario with the first wave of cancellations that happened in the middle of the product being sold

    Confirmed order:

I was in when it first showed up in the store. When I first clicked on the Buy It Now button it gave me an error saying that they couldn't ship to NC (I think this saved me from the burst of cancels). Backed out and clicked it again. Got to the page to process payment. Default payment method was my CC, changed it to PayPal, and it removed tax for some reason. Payment hung for a moment or so but went through, I think around 3:05 PM. Original confirmation email came around 3:11 PM. PayPal was immediately charged.

So I think there was something in those faster people that tanked the system, maybe involving PayPal as well. But it wasn't PayPal overall nor the lack of tax. A lot of my friends who got refunded hit that initial cancel, reordered relatively quickly using a CC, and then had their orders refunded last night. So I think mostly everyone that got caught in that got screwed, except for a handful of ppl who happened to do their second order in the middle of the hour.

Unless this is the tinfoil hat place they reprint Stoneforge Mystic because it's not legal in modern...yet.

It is in the modern card pool but banned

Correct. But their wording seems to be intentionally "tricky": "..with a mix of reprints not yet legal in Modern.."

Stoneforge Mystic is a card that is not yet legal in modern, and they could unban it on release. They seem confident that the buy-a-box promo is a cool version of a reprint that people will want - I think SFM potentially fits that bill. And, if they're printing the ally swords, a good way to make them not feel like wasted mythic slots would be to make the swords better in modern, a la SFM reprint.

I don't know if SFM is the card; it's mostly just funny to bring up because it's the one people keep spec'ing on to be unbanned. However, WoTC's phrasing does make it seem like they're reprinting a card that they intend to unban.

I would think that Karn, as an artifact containing a pre-mending spark, is a proof to the contrary? Unless he officially has Venser's post-mending spark at this point.

    Interesting idea, though.

-When the opponent had 1 land in play on turn 3, why not play the fulminator mage and destroy that land?

If you're talking about the first match, the land was a fetchland. He wouldn't have gotten a good opportunity to get rid of the land within that turn cycle so took a more proactive path.

Pre-mending planeswalkers were able to manipulate their physical form at will. Maybe he just wanted pupils that day...

    Here's what he said:

"I thought of Dread Wanderer while trying to find sideboard cards that could help against U/R. My thinking was that I wanted something that wouldn't just get countered, and that's the one matchup where I actually do a lot of attacking with small creatures. If I have Hidden Stockpile, they can't exile my Dread Wanderer with Magma Spray (a card they might sideboard out against me anyway) and this is a persistent threat that provides more of a clock than my other cards. Also, because a lot of my spells are going to get countered, it can be hard to have extra resources to trigger revolt. I can often resolve Hidden Stockpile because it's so cheap, but a lot of the time I'm just sacrificing my one Servo to make another just to scry. In the late-game, I can sacrifice Dread Wanderer and return it to trigger revolt to build a larger battlefield.

I decided that there was enough utility to having a single Dread Wanderer to return in the late-game, which can also let me generate extra clues with Ulvenwald Mysteries that it made sense to play it as my ninth one-drop over Loam Dryad, knowing that it would particularly overperform against U/R.

In practice, I didn't get a lot of experience with it. Loam Dryad was a card I sideboarded out a lot because it's the least-important engine piece and a card that plays a lot worse in sideboarded games in general. I never know how much detail to go into on this topic, since it comes up so often and I feel like I touch on it regularly, but I also think it doesn't really get the attention it deserves; a low-impact card that needs to work with other cards to speed up your own gameplan is the exact card that decreases in value the most in sideboarding, when decks get more interactive and games slow down and each card has to pull more weight. In taking its place, I knew I'd be sideboarding Dread Wanderer out a lot, which is what happened, and I never played the match it was intended for, so I'm really not sure how good it is."

I don't want to post more of the article than that so that it's properly supported and what not. But I highly recommend it if you can manage the premium (I had a month card laying around) - he goes over some of the odd card choices and gives some pointers for how to pilot the deck because it can be counter intuitive (i.e. making sure you hit mana benchmarks to play your enchantments on time more than trying to curve out with creatures).

He put up an article on SCG Premium.

This was his list at the GP:

this is his deck post changes (but not including today's Marvel ban):

He talks about the deck being largely synergy based and that the removal can be awkward if you try to include too much of it. Cast Out was where he was transitioning because it was removal when he needed or it replaced itself if not. Could start with that idea?

I'm personally going to try out his second list as a jumping off point, but with an Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim as a sac outlet instead of the main deck Cast Out.

Now it's clear why they haven't revealed the next WMCQ promo. According to a leak from a few months ago, it was supposed to be Inkmoth Nexus. If I remember correctly, the leaked photo clearly showed that the promo was marked and printed as a WMCQ promo, and now according to WOTC's announcement from today it seems like this promo was scrapped. Sad =\

I would imagine that they'd keep the ones that they've made as printed and shift them to being a nationals promo. So in the future they would be coded correctly, but this batch will still be Inkmoth with the WMCQ indicator.

I got to do the Recruiter loop against Miracles at a GPT on Saturday. Was funny watching his spirit slowly drain away when every turn was "Equip previous Recruiter with Sword of Fire and Ice. *he kills it, etc* Play another Recruiter to find Recruiter." for about 5 turns until the little dude just killed him.

I was 3-1 going into that match and we were forced to play it out because he was on 7 points. Propelled me into 1st going into top 8 where I immediately lost to burn. I made a poor choice with my Prelate (naming 1 instead of 3 when I was low on life and I knew he had Vortex in his list) that probably cost me game 3... I did have a second one on 6 that stranded 3 Fireblasts in his hand. ^.^

My previous loss was to Jund, and I beat Infect, Goblins, Big Red, and Miracles. Was a weird meta that contained 0 delver. I was trying out 2 Ghost Quarters as a 61st card and taking out the 4th Port. I would say it was nice, but my matches didn't super line up with it. It did however snag an Inkmoth, a Sol Land, a Fetch (when Miracles didn't want to shuffle), a basic when Jund fetched for them early, and a plains when Miracles had already played the two his list had. I think I would keep the 2 when going to a larger event as long as Eldrazi and Delver are popular.
