Unholy Heat: Non-foil versions are available by participating in local qualifiers. Traditional foil versions are available as well through participating in larger open qualifying events as well as side events at Regional Championships. This version of Unholy Heat features new artwork from Cabrol.
Eldritch Evolution: Non-foil versions of this card can be earned by being a top finisher in local qualifiers. Traditional foil versions will be available to players who earn invitations to their respective Regional Championship at qualifier events. The next evolution in this card's art comes courtesy of DZO.
Ugin, the Spirit Dragon: Get in the spirit of the Regional Championships with this massive game-winner. Non-foil versions will be provided to Regional Championship participants, while top finishers from each region will receive a traditional foil version of the card as well. This printing of Ugin, the Spirit Dragon features new artwork from kelogsloops.
I like the Ugin, sure I won't like its price on the secondary market.

STOP using "dude/bro" as a pejorative or insult. Grow up.
Margaret Thatcher: “The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.”
Benjamin Franklin: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
Martin Luther King Jr.: "I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."
I think they would be better off making no text dfc cards. One side is all art and the other side can have the text. Especially since most players know what Ugin, the spirit dragon and Unholy Heat do.

a few things:
- i would like all of them to be borderless like ugin.
- numbering is weird, they are numbered 0004-0006 but are named Secret Lair Play and Secret Lair Prize, what even are those, did i miss some announcement?
- good work on the art, but did artists stopped having actual names?

A lot of artists nowadays find their footing in social media, where they use pseudonyms. Once they've built up their brand, that pseudonym essentially also becomes a part of their brand. It's a lot easier for people to find their work online if the artist credit says "Kelogsloops" or "DZO", because there's guaranteed to be fewer of those out there than, say, John Smith.
The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.
See this is something that bugs me, and they do it for a surprising number of cards. Why Ugin? It's a perfectly good card, but there are already multiple bling versions of it. There are already high end Ugins out there for people who want them. Walking Ballista doesn't have a bling version unless you count prerelease. Craterhoof, older commanders. The Deadly Rollick cycle. They should prioritize cards with no fancy/exclusive version..i don't count Lairs, they don't take luck or skill.

Wonder what would happen if I used WarMachinePrime in my workplace?
Rhetorical question, I know the answer.

If you're an artist who started developing their brand under the name, then you'd just not need to spend time reassociating your work with your actual name. It's not a professionalism issue, it's a business strategy. I'm sure Sting would have gotten some odd looks if he worked in an office and wanted people to call him that.

Rhodey'd sue you.
Maye I'm missing something but why are people saying they'd like all cards to be borderless like Ugin? All three are full-art borderless treatments. Just that the text boxes for the colored cards look somewhat different. Is that all?

I thought that too, until I looked more closely halfway down the textboxes on Unholy Heat and Eldritch Evolution. They both have a little black border starting ~75% of the way down. I really didn't notice it until it was pointed out.

Borderless cards usually (always?) have those little curved bits at the bottom, and Planeswalker art fills the whole frame, even behind the text box. Borderless Planeswalkers just sorta combine the two ideas.

Fair. Although I have some doubts about discoverability of someone using three letter acronym as their handle.
I would appreciate if we got more of those new artists in mtg not just as one-time jobs on promos. Artstyles got homogeneous to the point cards are very forgettable. (more Wylie Beckert please)

Those blend in on those particular cards well but on some others they look weird. It pains me that they seem to try to artificially increasing uniqueness of Ugin while in reality all cards could have gotten the same treatment.
