I am assuming these will be a Secret Lair, then half a year later be reinterpreted as Universes Within and be on The List.
This is starting to be predictable.
Magic players are never happy.
If WotC doesn't have a clear process to make UB cards available in a flavor suitable to Magic world : they ruin the game.
If WtoC do indeed that : it's boring and predictable.
There's always a reason to complain.
No complaints here. I like that much better than stuff like the Lord of the Rings set or the Transformers stuff.
Huh, seems like a bunch of fun cards. Wonder how many people will complain about Forge's Treasure production being "too restrictive" while also complaining about Treasure production being "too strong."
I’m willing to bet these are UB because these D&D character cards resemble the actors in the movie
and I definitely like these they are fun and not Cedh leveled I definitely like th izzet legend it’s basically Dream Devourer with a goad something on the second spell cast
A couple of things confuse me. 1) don't they avoid ward costs that may be impossible to satisfy? And 2) does the timing on the green one work? It feels like she gets vigilance after she taos to attack

I think they could just illustrate them to make them look less like the actors. They do own the characters themselves just not the likenesses amd that's if it wasn't a part of some kind of deal with the actors.
I really like them Edgin, Zenk and Simon look the most fun to me. My only nitpick is I wish that beyond Simon there was more to connect them to the two dungeons and dragons sets. Like one caring about dungeons, adventures, maybe having choose a background.

Embrace the dark you call a home,
Gaze upon an empty, white throne
A legacy of lies,
A familiar disguise
Sing with me a song of conquest and fate
The black pillar cracks beneath its weight
Night breaks through the day, hard as a stone
Lost in thoughts all alone

1) actually every normal deck play creatures, it's harsh, but not impossible to satisfy normally.
2) she got vigilance on both sides, so she never tap.
#1: Creatureless control (or 2-3 creature) has been an archetype since year 1 so I'm not sure how true that is.

Even if that is true control decks runs mass removals since dawn of times, so I still don't think how's that an issue. Aggro decks gonna pay the ward cost, creatureless decks got many other ways to remove a threat, not a big deal.
If these cards only go into eternal formats, they are often more lenient with things.

I'd hate to throw away a 4c or 5c sweeper to deal with just this but you are probably right that it being an option is enough to make it fair.
Neat effects. Still hate UB and I hate this slightly more than usual because Michelle Rodriguez is on a card (I just don't like her as an actress. Almost every movie she is in is incredibly terrible.)

Predictable doesn't equate to boring. I like some of these designs here and plan on creating commanded decks around at least three, as I will most likely be buying this Secret Lair. I said predictable because they did this with the Stranger Things SL and the Street Fighter SL. Steven said that they will be doing that in some future Secret Lairs. When I see original design in a Secret Lair that's based on another IP, it is a given that it will be in UW and on The List.
looks like Elesh Norm gonna survive or its not really Elspeth gonna end Elesh.
The art seems telling but might be a red herring
I think you jumped into the wrong thread. This the D&D movie thread, "Honor Among Thieves."
This reminds me of the Monty Python classic sketch, "Argument Clinic" when the patron accidentally goes into the room for "abuse" instead of "arguments."

I wouldn't be surprised if they appear on The List, but unlike other Secret Lairs, they probably won't get the Universes Within treatment on account of Adventures in the Forgotten Realms being a standard set, Pioneer legal and everything. These characters are part of that same setting, so all that they need to do is commission new artwork that doesn't use the actors' likeness (assuming that their contracts stipulate this is a one time thing) and they're already as kosher as any other D&D related cards they've printed thus far.
The main reason Universes Within is necessary is to prevent another Reserved List from happening for copyright reasons, but D&D is WotC's other major fantasy product and they totally own the rights to it just like Magic. Whether you like them crossing the streams or not, the legal necessity that spawned Universes Within doesn't apply here.
