Queza, Augur of Agonies 1WUB
Legendary Creature - Cephalid Advisor (Uncommon)
Whenever you draw a card, target opponent loses 1 life and you gain 1 life. Some people try to escape their fate. She makes sure to put them back on the path she wants them on.

Obscura Ascendancy WUB
Enchantment (Rare)
Whenever you cast a spell, if its mana value is equal to the number of soul counters on Obscura Ascendancy plus one, put a soul counter on Obscura Ascendancy. Then create a 2/2 white Spirit creature token with flying.
As long as there are 5 or more soul counters on Obscura Ascendancy, spirits you control get +3/+3.
Queza is one of the best agents of the Obscura, slowly accruing tiny bits of information life in something as innocuous as drawing cards. Meanwhile, the family's Ascendancy cares about mana values and Spirits. I have no idea what to do with it.
So Queza obviously pairs well with connive effects helping you draw cards. Obscura Ascendancy is an interesting choice of effect though. I guess Connive helps you fill out the curve to get the effect off. Will be there any more spirit stuff in Obscura I wonder?
Queza could be a stupid crazy bomb in limited if there's as many "connive" effects in the set as it seems....
the Ascendancy seems to require a crazy amount of hoops to jump.
3 mana for a "do nothing"
then you have to cast spells in ascending CMC order for it to do anything.
well, it pays very well for itself in the second token, though... which might make it very strong in limited (except limited decks tend not to have a ton of CMC1 spells, and that might block the ascendancy from doing ANYTHING AT ALL)
if you count up all the way to 5, it simply wins the game.
Queza, Augur of Agonies: I need to remind everybody Psychosis Crawler stomps this since it does everybody at once for the same reason (yes aware it doesn't give you life)
Obscura Ascendancy:…welcome to my spirit tribal deck it’s 5-color and don't forget how big the mana value is on the kamigawa spirits you can get to the +3/+3 without lifting a finger there’s 210 spirits at 5 cmc or higher and vast majorly are required for 5-color spirit tribal
i see we have a usurper to oloro's throne for horrible edh decks to play against in queza.
when built right she'll be a combo machine that's able to blow out a table quickly while able to protect itself. (this is somewhat boring too)
most cases though?
i see her as baby's first control deck. you know, where the deck really doesn't DO anything. no real wincons because it expects to kill the table with her damage effect while padding life total, yet you won't be able to draw enough to kill more than maybe 2 people without combo'ing. tacking that you gain life portion on at the end is entirely what does it. slap that on anything it'll be unwarranted in how popular it is - and very poorly constructed.
her alt art almost makes me like the new cephalids
Obscura Ascendancy seems like a ton of hoops to jump through, except even without all that wonky mana value text it still just gets you a 2/2 flyer whenever you cast any spell, which seems just great on its own. I really don't get the design. Outside of proliferate, you will never pull this off. (It isn't enough to cast 5 spells each with a different mana value. You must cast, in order, a 1 drop, then a 2 drop, then a 3 drop, etc.)

I love that Ascendancy. Spirit Tribal gets some dece support beyond Midnight Hunt and Crimson Vow.
