When Orcus, Prince of Undeath enters the battlefield, choose one -
* Each other creature gets -X/-X until end of turn. You lose X life.
* Return up to X target creature cards with total mana value or less from your graveyard to the battlefield. They gain haste until end of turn.
(I do need Portuguese translate helpers because I need to make sure the first ability is right and it truely is missing “you control”.)
wow wow wow that is gonna be a heck of a finisher in commander and a beautiful mass reanimating effect I know orcus is gonna be delicious in Rakdos, Lord of Riots
EDIT: WOTC-Community team confirmed the Portuguese version got the text wrong and the correct text fo the card it’s -X/-X for the first ability and it’s “total mana value or less” for the other
Part of me loves it because it's strong, but the other part of me is crying because of how mana intensive I'm going to need this to be! Still, it's a cool card.
Is it just me or does the card say "each other creature gets..." and *not* "each other creature you control gets..."?
already fixed that that’s why I need translators help for this one.

Hey there everyone. Speaking with the design team, the Portugese language version does not match the final Oracle text of the card. English language versions of the card have the correct wording.
Orcus, Prince of Undeath reads:
Flying, trample
When Orcus, Prince of Undeath enters the battlefield, choose one —
• Each other creature gets -X/-X until end of turn. You lose X life.
• Return up to X target creature cards with total mana value X or less from your graveyard to the battlefield. They gain haste until end of turn.
??? The card clearly looks like it's printed as +X/+X... so why is it -X/-X???
The Portuguese translations are infamous for being really, really bad, between confusing terms, removing entire phrases, and mixing up steps.
Orcus should still go in BR aggro decks in Standard, Limited, and Commander, but for different purposes. The first ability can act as an equalizer when your side has been decimated, while the second is for rebuilding afterwards. You might actually want multiples in 60-card formats.
I actually called this! When the hints said Legendary Creature - Demon, my mind went right to Orcus and I was wrong in thinking I (and others thought) because technically Orcus is a Devil in MTG (which have a different connotation in D&D instead of how they are in MtG tbh) so the person was convincing me that it probably wasn't Orcus but instead Asmodious...but it was Orcus and I was accidentally right?
Too bad the card isn't one I would use, I love Orcus. Not that I don't like the card, it's more that I'm not currently playing Rakdos hahaha. Like, I like the card, I just don't enjoy Rakdos currently.
Reanimating creatures is probably just way too expensive to be worthwhile, but if you have a ton of mana lying around why not.
The set has a ludicrous amount of treasure tokens, so it can be quite explosive.
Winning with this in Limited seems to be trivial ...
The reanimation is fine too, you quite literally get your mana value back plus a 5/3 flample for 4. Mostly useful for utility creatures and triggers, though, as nothing you reanimate is likely to be very relevant stats-wise at that point.

The hint was about a "devil god", not a simple demon

How i feel about competitive players and casual players in EDH: The competitive are german tourists, the casual are italian tourists, both in a italian beach. The italians asking themselves "why are the germans here?" make a legitimate question, the answer is because the beach is beautiful, no matter the country you came from. The italians wanting to ban the germans are dumb, because if the germans pay for their stay and follow the rules like everyone else, they have the right to be in the beach. Hovewer, if the germans started to ask themselves "why are the italians here?"... they would be dumb as hell.
In what universe? If you build a deck like that, and ever draw that hand, I will personally come to wherever you live, perform complicated acts of awestruck ********, then disembowel myself to escape the world that allowed something like this to occur and validate you.

But that seems really bad as a card. I'm hoping the error was the translation *into* Portuguese, and that the actual English card reads differently.

Good ability for Greven il-Vec like decks.
it does
pits really -X/-X for the first ability and the second is “total mana value or less”
Isn't "igual"=equal?
Soo it becomes "mana total equal or less than X" just before the period.
edit: oh its -X/-X? Thats kinda bad, was hopping for a finisher but we only get a bad boardwipe or a very expensive reanimator.

Quite interesting how just switching those two signs creates two completely different cards.

The bottom rate of a 4-drop that dies to Bolt and has no other value is kinda awful in Modern, though. At least Orcus flies?
Rakdos, Lord of Riots loves his new wing man.
