Akiri returns with equipped creature card draw. You get the card before any damage is dealt, and if your creatures run into something that kills them, they can drop their Equipment and survive combat.
i really like her. she helps with a lot of the shortcomings in the color pair, especially when dealing with equipment. she doesnt do much about people responding to the equip to just outright kill the creature, but that would've been a bit too good.
Well there's that red/white creature that draws you cards. Great protection for your equipped creatures, when swords aren't available, and the CMC and body is great.
Akiri 2.0 is really decent Draw a card for at least one attack but dang it wizards why did you make it “one or more”
But that equipment defense is very decent for W It gets indestructible
I knew maros boros creature “whenever” ends with “draw a card” was gonna be attacked based rather than non-combat and I know fans what draw outside combat in boros
This is an exceptionally solid Commander and a fantastic equipment-based one. The card draw is balanced, but I think extra attacks effects will make it even better. The protection ability is exactly perfect, I hope RW leans harder into harnessing equipment like this. Sunforger started it ages ago, and I'll be glad when the color pair gets to play with equipment in different ways.
Akiri is well-costed and very suited to Commander. Yay!
I would have thought she would be a Kor Zombie? She did get thrown off from high by Nahiri in the trailer.
This likely represents her before said cliff throwing. Additionally, given her abilities... it's quite possible she survived the drop? While she was paralyzed initially, you can see her start to move before the trailer cuts out, so she may have been able to save herself from the fall with her climbing equipment.

Yep... combat, combat, combat. Would it kill them to conceptualize different themes for the pairing?
This card is good, although a lot of the time the card draw is going to be pretty expensive, paying equip costs potentially repeatedly. That hidden cost is made more egregious by the fact that you only get one card for all your trouble. Much like Puresteel Paladin, the draw is tied to equiptress builds which are a lot of fun to play but the color pair needs a more generalizable draw effect.
Meanwhile, blue-green is running stuff like Edric, Spymaster of Trest and Kinnan, Bonder Prodigy to both outdraw you and drop way more threats. They should, of course, be better at that than red-white, but how much better? Red-white still has a lot of catching up to do.

One interesting point I saw made: You're not limited to 1 card in multiplayer. In Commander, you can draw a card per player, as long as you're attacking each of them with at least one equipped creature. That makes her card draw much better than I read it as at first blush.
The only thing I dislike about this card is the art shift from her first version. Originally she seemed very agile and slim, and now she is very... tough looking. Not saying people can't change, but dang, that jawline is intense.

Since Zareth San, the Trickster seems quite alive and well, I guess we can assume that the trailer isn't necessarily set before everything that is depicted on cards. However, Akiris fate is indeed left ambiguous.

I guess she classed up from Soldier to Warrior with a master seal (stupid promotion path!) and got more meaty as a result
I always thought GLHF was "Good Luck Have Fun," especially on the older MTGO client where "Good luck and have fun." was an auto-message, did that change at some point?

It seems that it's to prevent a situation where, for example, you have two equipped creatures and you activate the ability, then your opponent removes one of the creatures, and now you're left being FORCED to unequip your remaining creature. The may lets you simply choose not to do so if it becomes disadvantageous to you.
You've got Akiri out with a Bonesplitter. They Lightning Bolt Akiri, you activate her in response. Since you haven't removed the bonesplitter yet, so if they have another Bolt, you can activate Akiri until they decide to stop hurling crap at her like a chimp. The equipment won't be removed until she's indestructible.

Card draw and Regeneration on a card is just very solid.
Hands to the sky
Give a round of applause
For the great Miss Y!
A Kor Zombie would've been awesome. Really like this new version of Akiri the way it is, though.
