My favorite thing about MTG Salvation is the "Ignore User" feature.
This is just shy of being Tooth and Nail. In commander it’d be pretty easy to almost always get a combination of creatures that win you the game no matter what your opponent chooses.
A Tooth and Nail where your opponent will try and pick the best of the three and hope for the best against the other two.
Well, kinda. It's an accurate comparison, the fact that this gives you casting triggers is an upside, but the "monocolored" restriction makes the one play you would want to do with Tooth and Nail impossible.
Seems like a really powerful card for Commander but almost unplayable anywhere else. Other Eternal formats want to cheat out either colorless cards or Progenitus and I don't think Standard has any good pile of three mono- threats that can win the game on the spot and justifies the restrictions of having such an awkward deck.
Everyone is comparing this to tooth and nail but the fact that this isnt just creatures shouldn't be ignored. Especially in a format like EDH it's easy to think of three mono colored spells that casting any two of them would win you the game. Even in standard it seems spicy, especially as it fills up with more mono colored bombs the further away from Ravnica we get.
No matter what choice your opponent makes, you get to put at least 2 creatures from your library onto the battlefield. Of course, such a combo is pretty silly since you'd want some redundancy in combo pieces and this just makes it into tooth & nail #5-8 while needing you to run a few of those other big spells
Not sure why they put the monocolor restriction in there, though.
Is it solely so you don’t fetch another copy of this?
That seems to be part of it, yes, but it feels like WotC is actively trying to make new cards that let you cheat big stuff into play but that also don't just revolve around as Eldrazi fodder.
Just tutor for 2 game breaking spells and just win.
Decree of Annihilation and 2 other cards kinda gives you the other two, unless they are cool with losing anything (and you keep whatever the other 1 card is they give you, that probably just wins).
So yes, its actually fairly easy to put up 3 cards that just spell "GG, i win".
Someone else pointed out to me a more direct instant win combo than converted it into tooth & nail
Torgaar, Famine Incarnate + Sorin's Vengeance + Searing Wind is a modern legal "20 damage to your face" on the spot in all 3 permutations.
its a big improvement over cheating in emrakul + xenagos since there's far less ways to interact with it, no chump blockers, no removal, no combat step. It is blanked by leyline of sanctity however

A far better description.
But everyone got a little too hopeful on that cycle that was gonna be completed from 10 years
But this is a game ended it’s almost tooth and nail

I changed my thing
This is like a combination of tooth and nail and gifts ungiven
take a pile of:

THATS A SMART MAN RIGHT THERE
A painters servant then The colorless cards can be tutored
Now I'm waiting for WOTC to make colored lands which can be chosen by this card but not played.
Still, this has some crazy flexibility.
I’m sure it’s capable of turning many boardstates around.
