“There are no weak Jews. I am descended from those who wrestle angels and kill giants. We were chosen by God. You were chosen by a pathetic little man who can't seem to grow a full mustache"
"You can tell how dumb someone is by how they use Mary Sue"
1 extra mana, you lose only one life, and you can get something that just won't stay dead and exile it instead of just discard. that seems...really solid, probably good enough for Modern

Project Booster Fun makes it less fun to open a booster.
Such beautiful, captivating art. This artist is amazing. I hope he has more work coming in this set. I’ll need to get this card even if I can’t play it in commander just because of this art
Holds up pretty decent in comparison to the almighty thoughtseize. Compares well to Thought Erasure in standard- easier to cast but you lose 1 life, exiles cards to counter graveyard or discard related shenanigans but doesn't get you the surveil.
While I'll certainly use it for standard and I can see it in pioneer, I don't know if I'd really use it elsewhere.
Getting full information before I nail a card and having the freedom to "discard" dredge, amalgam, Phoenix, etc is excellent. The fact that it isn't totally dead in the late game is also neat.
If I'm facing a grave-based deck, though, I get the impression that I'd often be better served by a relic. The only times when I would rather have this card in that case is 1) if I'm running a similar deck in a mirror match (and this set has a better card for that purpose) or 2) if I'm hitting disruption that would stop my big turn... and if I'm that aggressive, I'd much rather be shredding hands on turn 1 with thoughtseize.
I mean I don't think TS will get banned in Pioneer, but I wouldn't be opposed to it, even though I have mine. This is better than Thought Erasure though, so good work to the design team.

The "Crazy One", playing casual magic and occasionally dipping his toes into regular play since 1994.
Currently focusing on Pre-Modern (Mono-Black Discard Control) and Modern (Azorious Control, Temur Rhinos).
Find me at the Wizard's Tower in Ottawa every second Saturday afternoons.
First of all, absolutely no one should have thought Thoughtseize would be getting reprinted in a standard-legal set anyway.
Second of all, this is still great. Should replace Thought Erasure in any decks that would want it, except for Niv-Mizzet shenanigans. And of course, it's playable in decks without blue.
