In what universe? If you build a deck like that, and ever draw that hand, I will personally come to wherever you live, perform complicated acts of awestruck ********, then disembowel myself to escape the world that allowed something like this to occur and validate you.
well that's neat. also a better answer to Grapeshot than Flusterstorm would ever be. lights out brutality to Burn, not backbreaking for Affinity, but it can hurt. more cards like this please!

Project Booster Fun makes it less fun to open a booster.
I think this went a bit over the top as a Burn hoser, I suppose there's something like a Flaring Pain for lifegain or even a Sulfuric Vortex reprint/adaptation in the set, else, it feels unfair, just one of these in your hand and you can gain massive CA by getting a guaranteed 2-for-1 when they fire a single burn spell at you.
Considering that Burn isn't having a particularly good time now, this feels like overkill against it, sure, it can also hurt Phoenix, but gaining a lot of life isn't so hot when you're left facing 2 Phoenixes or worse, a flipped TITI.
Actually, green usually gets lifegain in larger amounts, while white usually gets it in small amounts. White's lifegain spells are usually instants, while green's are usually sorceries. That said, there are of course exceptions.
MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
I honestly am baffled that the most iconic white effect aka gain 3 life is on a green storm card.
Green was the original life gain color, and it is still in color pie. Green still gains pure life gain spells fairly regularly.
As for the card itself, it's a pretty good common. In modern it will likely be a sideboard card, but I can see it getting played in Pauper and possibly Commander.

It's about time for the reserved list to die, for the sake of Vintage and Legacy (And Commander).
Would have liked to see "target player gains" in lieu, to add utility for killing opposing Death's Shadow but can't be choosey now.
It'd make the card better, but if I ever cast this online I will reallllly prefer the you gain over target. Having to select a target for 30 copies gets old real quick.
Am I the only person who is upset about this being common? I really like the card, but pauper doesn't need another storm card. I guess it doesn't win the game?

It may help other Pauper decks more than it hurts. I know I am already going to use it as sideboard tech in a few decks I have. I sense Turbo Fog giggling with glee right now. That I don't like.

It's not even a case of exceptions, green's are almost always instants now, unless they're stapled to another effect that typically is only sorcery speed like land-fetching. In the past 7 years or so, green lifegain being at instant is the norm, and sorceries are the exceptions.
This seems perfect if you're expecting a lot of burn. I always hate the turn 2/3 double spell you so gaining 9-12 life off the back of that is a huge swing

As far as we know it's:
Weather the Storm 1G
Instant (common)
You gain 3 life.
Storm
If anyone can translate the flavor text or better translate the name, it'd be appreciated! (Edit: Thanks Mazyloron!)
Hands to the sky
Give a round of applause
For the great Miss Y!
The flavor text goes something like, "With the right mindset, anywhere can be as calm as the eye of the storm"
Edit: I probably did a bad job at translating the flavor text, hopefully someone else can do a better job
Esper - Sydri - Alternate take on the Artifacts meta
Orzhov - Regna and Krav - Tokens and Lifegain and +1/+1 counters
Mono Green - Multani, Yavimaya's Avatar - Land Matters
WURG Kynaios and Tiro Grouphug/Fistbump
Agreed. This makes more sense in white, as it is an enemy of the red storm archtype. But I guess white has answers to storm already?
Green having lifegain stuff and big lifegain stuff is kinda a call back to stuff like stream of life
Lifegain is split between three colors: white, black, and green. White has the most, running lifelink and straight-up lifegain. Black gets lifelink and the occasional drain spell, while green gets only straight-up lifegain, usually small and creature-based.

This card sure has some weird ramifications for all in tendrils style decks past modern, as such a strange sideboard hoser.

By the way the correct name of the card is “Verdant Windstorm” for those wondering

Might have to be uncommon for that to be honest
