I just hope the packs aren't $9.99 each, but I bet they will be.

Also Wizards: "Lets welcome 'Modern Horizons'".
Or, according to my friend who hinted me as the first to the rumors: "Totally not a Masters Set" ;-)
So what your saying is there’s gonna be a few new cards basicly making the new master sets a mix of master sets and conspiracy/battlebond sets combined

I dont know what to expect from this set. A lot of people wish to have "new cards in the modern pool without running through standard". I personally think, that this might be a little bit strange. I expect this currently to be a full reprint set. But according to wizards, its not a masters set. So what will it be? We will see in a few hours.

I don't really see straight-to-modern new card prints as such a big deal. I mean, they have been doing this for legacy for years now and no one batted an eye and it is not like they did it only with unplayable cards: Leovold, Emissary of Trest and to some small extent Teferi's Protection are two examples I can think of.
If it's still reprints or even mostly reprints, I don't see how this would be any different from the other products they have produced unless they change the boosters to something else. Maybe something like a Tournament Pack would come back and you play with a seeded pack of 75 cards instead of booster drafting?

Supply of those cards was sufficient for legacy's playerbase. Leovold also saw two printings.
If this is the set made to bypass standard for modern playable new cards there could be a very real supply issue if something in a higher rarity ends up spiking a tournament as a four of. This is considerably dangerous for new printings where you don't have an old supply to boost. I'm not talking about counterspell here. The modern playerbase is just much bigger than legacy.
Overtime it could be eased with new printings, but it could further exacerbate the barriers to entry for the format in the short term.
Obviously without any data on the playerbase it's impossible to draw any concrete solutions. Look no further than nexus of fate where perceived scarcity can heavily drive a price. Mark said on blogatog that nexus has more copies out in the wild than any other mythic from that set - yet it still commands a higher price than some of the other just as playable (and more rare) mythic from the set.
I have serious reservations about the product if they differentiate it this way.

I mean, is that any different from a new modern staple being printed in a standard legal set that may also have to compete with standard players wanting it on top of that?

I don't have exact numbers, but generally Standard sets see more printings than supplemental sets.

My understanding was also that standard printings see significantly more printings.
My LGS is lucky to make it through two weeks of being able to draft a limited print run masters set. Obviously battlebond and conspiracy have more longevity because the print runs are larger.
I do not know how standard print runs match up with sets like conspiracy.
It did seem like the market was overly saturated with conspiracy 1 though. I remember a few months after buying my box seeing box prices plummet along with singles. Year+ later there were still sales and crates including the packs. LGS and event locations always had quite a bit in stock. All anecdotal evidence though.
$99 sealed GP entry indicates that the set will be priced as a normal booster set. (recent UMA GP was $150)
I do not share your optimism.
And now with no MSRP, who knows what these will be priced at? I would guess between 7 to 15 dollars a pack depending on if it is straight reprint or reprint plus new Modern only cards.

For the great Miss Y!
So when they said there would be a February Modern announcement, they meant "the last possible day, in the afternoon."
Hey, at least they will have kept their promise, I guess.
I mean, they need some way to get people to watch their *****ty stream no one actually cares about otherwise.

guess I have something to get me through work today. Hopefully it'll get regular level printing or at least more than masters sets
