Just because they can do it tho won't mean we are gonna see it from now on. As mark said its a tool they have not whats gonna be the norm.

Well, he said not all walkers one other time. Serra might be an exception considering how easily she ultimates. She could very well be the only walker in the set without a static/triggered ability and was hand picked for that as much as nostalgia. A walker is going to have be hella strong to forego the immediate value of a trigger or the ongoing value of a static ability IN ADDITION to free loyalty activations.
I wouldn't mind if Gideon's creature mode became a static effect.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
Honestly I like the idea of attackable enchantments. That makes the whole thing much more interactive.
It's especially nice as it basically gives Red and Black fair ways to deal with enchantments. It was never fun losing to CoP Red played in the first few turns of a game.
A zero minus ability planeswalker will probably be very rare because that's what makes walkers special and not just a legendary artifact/enchantment you can attack.
the loyalty mechanic and being able to attack walkers directly is really what makes them special, or at least more core to their identity. using counters and manipulating them for some effect has shown up on every permanent type.
either way i think its a welcomed expansion of walker functionality that substantially improves their design space; though i do hope they dont over do it since the traditional model is fine too.

I wouldn't expect it to appear often though. If anything we'll see them have things like flash or trample (if they turn into creatures) more often than "Creatures you control get X, Y, or Z during your turn".
I guess confirmation is nice but did anyone seriously expect them to just never use static abilities again? Besides, Garruk Relentless already had a static ability like 5 years ago.

I welcome this, but PWs still make the game all about combat, which is for me a huge issue. Limited by necessity has to be that way, although I have won a fair few limited games where I have not attacked. One of the reasons I would rather not play Mtg than play Standard, and spend time and effort to get people to stop playing Standard, has been their relentless focus on combat/creatures and PWs for most of the past few years, and their idea that players should not feel bad about anything, such as losing energy counters, having cards or lands dissappear or even being unable to attack rather than players not feeling bad about unintentional flood or screw, which is actually understandable. Of course they probably don't care about the player feeling bad when they try and sell their Std deck at SCG prices and no-one buys until they get a tenth of what they were asking for. Most people play Standard and realise it is a money treadmill, fair enough. But why does the money treadmill exclude so many traditional aspects of Mtg?
This new design space just encourages more PWs. If they want a static ability that goes, why not use Saga type enchantments? Why make it about combat?
I think they have realised how dull many of their pw designs of the same walkers became. There are only so many Gideons you can see, and I think they just needed to freshen up the space....
From a personal standpoint, I find the vast majority of Planeswalkers to be rather boring and middling. The introduction of static abilities makes Planeswalkers much more interesting and dynamic. I hope that static abilities are use quite a bit, as it can easily be used to make otherwise ho-hum Planeswalkers into good Planeswalkers.
This is fantastic this is how walkers should have bena long time ago
So Serra and whoever is in modern horizons doesn’t have one because it was designed before war of the spark

Prob not gonna be a all time thing, but when they do it will be nice.(as long as they are not shy on the power level

Because Sagas are more predictable than Planeswalkers and less interactive.
