Heartfire is a slightly worsebetterReckless Abandon but at least it gives you a use for uncommon planeswalkers who are low on counters?
Blindblast is meh.
The Cyclops is pretty nice and reminds me of an Izzet take on Flametongue Kavu, except it doesn't kill itself if it's the only creature on the battlefield.
Not sure how Heartfire is a "slightly worse" Reckless Abandon.
I'll gladly take instant speed over sorcery speed at the cost of one more mana. Lets you use it in response to a board wipe or removal. Plus the added value of being able to sac a planeswalker is gravy.
Heartfire is far better. As has been mentioned already sacrificing in response to removal can be very useful. 4 damage for two mana is still very good. I could see it used in a red aggro/burn deck of some sort.

In fairness reckless abandon isn't in modern.
2 mana for 4 damage is something to be very wary of, especially with so many bolts in a format. As fireblast and goblin grenade show, the cost doesn't matter when it closes out the game. Of course, this is not real close to either
Heartfire seems intriguing at instant speed. Sac the Walker you are attacking? Sac the critter you tried to Contempt? I dunno if it gets there, but there is a ton of burn in Standard already. Maybe 'Sac Lavarunner' just ends a bunch of games.
Am I the only one who thinks heart fire is bringing the feels? ;p

And that's my fault for forgetting that Reckless Abandon is a sorcery. Oops! This isn't so bad then.

Lapsed DCI Rules Advisor - Retired from playing but still hanging around
So I've been waiting for a cheap red burn spell that can deal with Teferi, Time Raveler in one hit, and it seems like Heartfire may be it. I like it.
The one problem with that is, once he comes down, you can only use Heartfire when you could cast a sorcery. If he uses his -3, you won't need 4 damage to deal with it. If he uses his +1, he'll have 5 loyalty before you can act, so you'll still need a little more.
Heartfire seems like it could be one of the missing sacrifice outlets Aristocrats was waiting for. Sure, it's not a creature and it only works once; but it could push the deck in a more aggressive slant and burn the opponent out faster (also gets around teh issue of your sac outlets being creatures that are vulnerable to removal before your engine gets online). Two mana and a token for 5-6 damage to the face ain't too shabby.
MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.

No one in their right mind should be casting Teferi, Time Raveler Turn 3. At least, that's my assessment of the card. I thought much about why wizards made him a 3 mana card with a starting loyalty of 4. If he was only 2 mana, he'd come down too fast not giving the opposing player a chance to react. He could have just as easily been a 2 mana walker with a starting loyalty of 3, but then players wouldn't get any real use out of him because of his -3. At 4 mana, 4 starting loyalty, he'd have been too slow, with aggro running right over him and control easily countering him. I think wizards realized this when play-testing him, which is why they made the card this way.
As he is, even IF you're on the play, you're tapping out to cast him. Your opponent can just follow up with Heartfire and that's all she wrote for Teferi. He's much better as a Turn 4-Turn 5 play when 1-2 mana cards like Spell Pierce and Negate will have open mana up to protect him.

"Eh"? 4×Heartfire + 4×Goblin Arsonist or 4×Mudbutton Torchrunner don't look "eh" to me. Heartfire is a better Fling for cheap, small creatures like Goblins and Devils. I think Heartfire might just prove Standard or even Modern viable.
Blindblast is classic Jaya snark.
