This is a great card, I have a deck that this slots right in (its my life manipulation one). Having this in addition to stuff like Necropotence seems good.
11:15, restate my assumptions: 1. Mathematics is the language of nature. 2. Everything around us can be represented and understood through numbers. 3. If you graph these numbers, patterns emerge. Therefore: There are patterns everywhere in nature. - Maximillian Cohen.
Its interesting that wizards felt like overengineering citadel enough to be a combo deck's card advantage engine, mana engine and win condition all in a single card. It will make combos with it rather linear, but whiffing when it hits lands and costing 6 mana cost make it run into more roadblocks than experimental frenzy. I wouldn't hold my breath on it to be a thing, but if you can make that 6 cmc hurdle thats a lot of moving parts on a single card
Bolas's Citadel is an absurdly broken card for commander. Definitely cEDH worthy, and makes Lifegain decks stupid powerful. Imagine casting cads that net you life off of it. Abzan Lifegain Storm anyone?
I like how they're templating the ability from Innistrad on actual devils now. It seems to make sense to assign that ability to a particular creature type. Now if they'd do that to Knights and Flanking...
Bolas' Citadel is definitely an EDH plant. I don't know if it's just me but this set feels like its going to be a super aggressive limited format. I can't wait to draft with it

It doesn't whiff when hitting a land though (at least not if its the first land you'd play), which roadblocks it just as much as Frenzy (additionally you can still cast things out of your hand if need be, which Experimental Frenzy doesn't allow.
Repay in Kind same thing as the sands but with everybody
Invincible Hymn keep bring this back to your hand or on top of your library somehow again omniscience (until your low)
This might be potentially bannable in edh if abused properly
Good ideas for use. If going w/ creatures who's cost are less than toughness, cards like Assault Formation will be a good pick... hmmm, I smell a black/green Defender brew happenin', lol...

Tibalt's rager is garbage for uncommon, yeah?
Also: I hope someone tries Lich's Mastery + Citadel is a thing in standard.
(Also known as Xenphire)
I mean, it's a pretty cheap trick compared to what Yawgmoth pulled off in Apocalypse. Bolas is copying the Phyrexians' homework.
Deal with it.

I'm pretty sure Phyrexian Unlife might work a bit better, although Angel's Grace does have split second.
Side Note: yay I'm an Archmage now

"Yo Tibs!! I brought a rock, and I'm ready to party!!"
Notice there's no battle happening in the background. Tibalt boogies in Rakdos's basement for the whole war.

Aetherflux Reservoir you’ll cast enough cards you won’t care about the life any more basicly making persudo omniscience
necropotence already played the land just exile it with the potence then your back in business
phyrexian unlife who cares about paying life
Verdant Sun's Avatar lets just get a refund after the creature I cast enters (if toughness higher than mana cost)
reverse the sands make your life total very low then switch it with someone else
Resolute Archangel flicker that girl a lot then another persudo omniscience
Repay in Kind same thing as the sands but with everybody
Invincible Hymn keep bring this back to your hand or on top of your library somehow again omniscience (until your low)
This might be potentially bannable in edh if abused properly
