I figured we'd get a new Emmara. She's definitely designed with convoke in mind, but she's not very exciting. Also, does her title seem worded oddly to anyone else, like the "the" shouldn't be there? Her artwork in nice, though I think I liked the art on her first card better.
I think this time, Emmara is scarily good. She enables Convoke all by herself as time goes along, but it wasn't long ago we saw Brimaz, King of Oreskos see play in Standard, and from what I can tell, this card is a better, two mana version of that exact card. She demands removal, or a large opposing board position, and that's more than what you can ask for from a two drop.
Actually she is quite amazing. A real token-factory if coupled with Vehicles ! & certainly more things.
Big potential here
Her art is sooooo enchanting <3
Oh man, Emmara + Glare of Subdual looks like fun magic to me. Convoke and vehicle synergy are also good. Reconnaissance and Maze of Ith effectively make this a weird bitterblossom. Hokori and Winter Orb play well with Glare and mana dorks. This creature has me excited.
Sure, there is a chance of spending $4 on a booster and getting the Mythic Rare $30 super card. There is also a chance of surviving putting your tongue in a light socket.
Certainly looks interesting. I think it will depend massively on how good the convoke cards are. If the other one spoiled today is anything to go by, should be pretty good.

EDH BRGKresh the BloodbraidedBRG, A box of lands and ideas.
Modern: RG Titanshift. A deck made of cards too stupid for EDH.
Retired: Lots. More than I feel you should suffer through or I should type out.
The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.

"Soul of Accord" would make sense if she was supposed to be a manifestation of the abstract concept of "Accord" refering to a large number or all things "Acoords" like "Avatar of Sin". But "the Accord" easily could be a concrete piece of the Selesnyan belief system, maybe some kind of understanding among all Selesnyans that binds them to each other and the guild hierarchy. Emmara would not be the "Soul of Accord", but the "Soul of that specific Accord". It is assumed that people in every day talk on Ravnica would talk about "the Accord" and understand which one was referred to. It's a in-universe concept big enough that it takes over the word in the minds of the people.
It's "Ark of the Covenant" not "Ark of Covenant" - same principle. There is a very specific Covenant referred to - not just any.

Planar Chaos was not a mistake neither was it random. You might want to look at it again.
[thread=239793][Game] Level Up - Creature[/thread]
Her combo potential in Modern is possibly high, but I'm wondering: would it be possible to make her a winning condition for Elves decks in Legacy in one way or another? I'm definitely no expert in such matter, but it was one of the things that came to my mind while reading the card.
Edit: I think I found a way to combo off with Emmara, Soul of the Accord in Legacy Elves. By controlling Birchlore Rangers, Wirewood Symbiote and Nettle Sentinel in addition to Emmara, is it possible to tap these last two creatures, producing a token and having G floating. After that, if the effect of the insect gets activated by bouncing the Rangers and targeting Emmara, the Sentinel can be untapped by casting again what was returned to hand. Because the creatures involved are all untapped, the process can be repeated indefinitely.
I did not want to “necro” this thread by posting another reply, but I’ll leave this update here, just in case someone looks for this kind of information in the future.
Mono Green Stompy is losing quite a few tools come rotation, but may see a resurgence as GW Stompy thanks to Emmara, Soul of the Accord. While it still remains to be seen what G and W cards with Convoke we'll be getting during the Guilds of Ravnica block, there are some powerful tools/monsters still at our disposal:
They've already issued an errata for the card: the correct name is "Voice of insurgence". Emmara is actually in the set as a 4/9 that gives banding to tokens.
This seems too slow to be used in constructed. Maybe in limited. The thing is - you can't use the token on the same spell as you use Emmara - since the trigger isn't resolved until after you've paid for the spell. There are much better ways to get multiple creatures on the board even if convoke is your goal.
Unless we see Soldier tribal of course - then I could see this working. Honestly - I'd rather it have been a saproling. I guess the lifelinker might be okay as a chump blocker in some situations.
If we get stuff like Glare of Subdual then my opinion will change, of course. I'm just refering to the claim I hear from pretty much everyone that "this will be good for convoke" ... and I just don't see that - not on it's own.

Not so much good for as it rewards you for using her for comvoke. And, if the token sticks around then you can use it for your next comvoke spell. It's almost lost Ke she has "t: make a mana dork" baked in. I get that you get that, but I think you are valuing it lower than other commenters.

She also replaces herself with a blocker. When using convoke you gotta be careful that you leave some creature to block if needed and she basically makes is safe for you to convoke out and still have a blocker. And if selesnya gets uncap stuff she could get you a few tokens per turn which just helps with convoke.

I am valuing it lower - because it's a worse card than most people give it credit for and for Convoke alone there are better cards. I'm someone who hyped Night Market Lookout when others thought it bad and I used it a lot with vehicles - so I know how good that trigger can be.
The problem is - vehicles are leaving (EDIT: the good ones that is) and the idea of always having a Convoke every turn is magical christmas land for colours that don't typically draw cards. You are almost always better having some of the saproling generation out of Dom over her unless you need to convoke for W
So I stand by my evaluation. Unless there are other effects that tap creatures as a cost (such as Glare of Subdual which is on-theme for Selesnya) I don't see this card seeing play in Standard. My opinion as always may change when we see more cards, though.

I can see her being playable in Standard, especially in a creature token deck with cards like Mavra Fein, Dusk Apostle and Legion's Landing.

Faster too, cause she borrowed Voice of Resurgence mana cost.

These are the primary pieces available to us, but the archetype could even go further with cards like:

And we could even splash R for:
Huatli, Warrior Poet
Gishath, Sun's Avatar
Zacama, Primal Calamity
And let us not forget the Convoke cards spoiled from GRN thus far as well:
Conclave Tribunal
Impervious Greatwurm
I guess Jace's mindwipe on her sapped her combat prowess...

(Or whatever the card is from HOU). Tap Emmara for mana and a blocker? Seems decent.
