Djinn and efreet have been frequently summoned especially in northwestern Jamuraa (Zhalfir & co]. Suq'Ata had pretty much regular contact with Wildfire, but the non-fire aligned djinn were originally from Rabiah.

There are natural portals between Rabiah, Wildfire, and the Burning Isles. This is nothing new, this is also the reason for the large number of Djinn and Efreet in Mirage block.

It's about time for the reserved list to die, for the sake of Vintage and Legacy (And Commander).
This would be an excellent finisher for the Mono-U control deck that I hope never becomes a thing again. Otherwise this makes for fun times with Master of Waves in the obligatory Devotion mention for cards in this cycle.
At least for the short term, I'm afraid the rewards for going mono color will not be strong enough to play these spells. Giving up on versatility and answers is not compensated by a french vanilla beater.

Yep. It's weird that there are six when there are exactly four creatures from Arabian Nights with "Summon Djinn" printed on the card, but whatever.

Card advantage is not the same thing as card draw. Something for 2B cannot be strictly worse than something for BBB or 3BB. If you're taking out Swords to Plowshares for Plummet, you're a fool. Stop doing these things!

No Djanni have ever been printed and creature types were faster and looser back then. In a different world Efreeti would also have the Djinn creature type, perhaps.

I wonder why Nekrataal has the creature types Human Assassin, and if they'll ever errata it.
I'm probably boring, cause this is my favorite card of the set so far.
Seconded. It reminds me so much of a Serendib Efreet but its even better than that.
It's basically a Serendib Efreet minus the downside that, while it forces you into monoblue two different ways, gets even better, so long as you're safely in limited, Standard, and Modern, where land destruction is nerfed; the minute you venture into Legacy, it becomes a lot weaker. I mean, I guess if you want to use spell lands or something, that's not entirely true.
This doesn't make it necessarily bad in eternal formats, by the way. Monocolored Commander decks can certainly use as many devotion cards as they can get: Color identity rules mean that your Commander devotion deck is often two or three colors just to use hybrid mana (Pop quiz: How many permanents add 3 or more to devotion to one color? And how many of them use hybrid mana?), and that's a bit of an offense to Melvin.
