It has haste. You mean Mountain, Sol Ring turn one and then turn 2 mountain, this, exile Primal Surge. Turn 3 have fun. Now how are we getting Primal Surge in the graveyard?

You can Entomb in Jund, I'd guess. Very sweet card, love that the spells keep piling on as the little guy keeps chugging along.

The "Crazy One", playing casual magic and occasionally dipping his toes into regular play since 1994.
Currently focusing on Pre-Modern (Mono-Black Discard Control) and Modern (Azorious Control, Temur Rhinos).
Find me at the Wizard's Tower in Ottawa every second Saturday afternoons.
I don't think you really need to protect him all that much, just leave 1R open. No one kills him, exile a thing on the end step before your turn starts. If someone plays removal, pop him in response. Obviously if there's instant speed removal on the board he can bite it in response to the first ability, but all in all it seems pretty low risk. I dig it.
This is why I love Commander previews. The design space is so vast, and there's not as much emphasis on getting them at the RIGHT power level for tournament play. There is less stress, means designers/developers can actually stretch their thinking caps.
(1) Tap Izzet Chemister to exile card in graveyard.
(2) Discard card to Mind Over Matter in order to untap Izzet Chemister.
(3) Tap Izzet Chemister to exile card you just discarded.
(4) repeat steps 2 and 3 as many times as you have the resources.
Just make sure you have a card in hand and two mana left so you can untap and activate his last ability and play all those cards you just discarded and exiled.
Such an elegant combo. It's potentially powerful, yet is very fragile and requires effort and investment.

I like the way you think
There's a pretty good chance I'll actually start playing Commander now: Kess Control is just my cup of tea. I'll definitely try playing this combo, too, and maybe go all in on Flashback.dec

Hehehe.
Sounds like a good start! Out of all the new Wizard legends, Kess definitely caught my eye as well. I'd definitely build around her if I wasn't swamped in EDH decks already and waiting for Dinosaurs to come in September
Welcome to the realm of absurdity and fun that is EDH/Commander!

A better order is to activate Mind Over Matter targeting Izzet Chemister, then activate the chemister's first ability in response. This lets you exile the card you discarded.

I was starting with a card already in the graveyard, before using Mind Over Matter. But, yes, you could start that way if nothing is already there.

So, he basically mixes a whole bunch of ingredients together to create a big spell explosion. Neat.

MTGS Wikia Article about "New World Order"
Every time I read a comment about "Well if this card had card draw/trample/haste/indestructible/hexproof/life gain...", I think "You're missing the point." They're armchair developer comments that fail to take into account the card's role in the greater Limited and Standard environment. No, it may not be as good as whatever card you're comparing it to. There's a reason for that. Not every burn spell is Lightning Bolt, nor does it need to be or should be.
PSA to everyone who keeps forgetting about the Reserved List:
You're on a website dedicated to talking about MtG. You're only a few keystrokes away from finding out what cards are on the Reserved List. You're also only a few keystrokes away from finding out why some cards on the Reserved List got foil printings in FtV, as Judge promos, or whatnot, as well as why that won't happen again. Stop doing this.
Unsure about timing restrictions. Can I cast the sorceries I've exiled at instant speed?
Any spell or ability that instructs a player to cast spells, usually without paying their mana costs, (as opposed to allowing a player to cast a spell from a certain zone) always ignores timing restrictions. Keep in mind that this creature has you cast spells while resolving its ability, a time when players can not cast instants, much less sorceries.

that's.....like.....a turn 3 Primal Surge if you give it haste
Ah, but it already HAS haste!
Very cool!

This guy will generate a lot of combos. The tapping for both effects is kinda a bummer, but it can be worked around.
At least with both abilities being activated, you get to use Necrotic Ooze and kin.
Hehehe.
