Decent limit fodder. I am surprised by how much eternalize costs. I mean it's card advantage and makes the creature stronger but so it Undying and those card didn't have crazy high mana costs.
I'm just mad they decided not to try to push Eternalize a little bit more than they have. The only thing that is pushing eternalize is The Scarab God and that's it. Dammit it's such a garbage parallel to morph and megamorph.

Why is it "overcosted"? Sure you're paying 5/6 mana for a 4/4 (usually with an ability), but in limited you force your opp. to have answers for both. This 3 drop can hit for 3 or trade early and later become a potential 7 dmg attacker. If you build a sealed or draft deck around this you can force a lot of 2 for 1s.

They were talking about the 1 drop though. 6 mana to get a vanilla 4/4, even if it doesn't require spending a card in your hand, is painfully overcosted, and that effect being stapled onto a 1/1 for 1 means that the real cost is putting a vanilla 1 drop in your deck in the first place (even in limited that by itself is terrible).
The 3 drop is a fine limited card, the 1 drop is just garbage.
Given that they came together, the idea behind the 1-drop is that he's something you play in self-mill strategies to get a late-game card for 'not a card'.
Is it not that good? Sure, it's not that good. But yeah, it's not like it has no value whatsoever.
Hmm, an eternalize cost that has a non-mana component. I wonder if there will be more of that. It'd certainly be neat to have one have no mana component, but that'd probably have to be pretty steep (and would be really good in Dredge).
Also, both the art and the name on the eternalized tokens makes me think they should have indestructible. That'd be totally ridiculous, but it really fits the flavor.
Sinuous Striker should've had a 3 toughness just set filler here.
That's a good point. Cards with the flowstone ability usually have odd total power and toughness. Strange they didn't do that here. I guess the eternalized version would have square stats anyways.
So this "Proven Combatant" is the least powerful creature with eternalize? I suppose that could make sense, but flavor-wise it seems more like it would be a white creature rather than a blue creature (since a combatant seems more fitting in white, at least in this plane).
Though I still find it kinda silly that one of the most dangerous creatures in Bolas's army of Eternals (at least as far as the tokens go) is a (domesticated?) kitty.
When I see Healing Salve, I'm often like "Oh girl, I wish I could turn every card into this." Thanks they removed the gain life part, otherwise this would have been broken.
I get that its a common, but so was Delver. I have a hard time caring about a SIX mana 4/4.
With you on that one. Even in draft or limited that is like the precipice of playability that most people will avoid unless they literally open nothing better to fill the spot with.
