Is anyone else creeped out that all these people want to become zombies? Or that there are all these zombies that work for the gods like it's a good thing?

I think that's the point. I was really taken aback when we saw what happens to the winners of the trials.

Yup. It is supposed to be creepy. These are not nice Gods.
Maybe Djeru uses exert himself so that this card synergizes with him. That would be a flavor win.
If I have to guess, we'll get a five-color cycle of legendary trial runners that all will have exert to show how much effort they put into winning. I'll aslo guess that without having to. Djeru is the white member. Probably rare since the Gods are the monocolored mythic rare legendary creature cycle.
(I hope we get a cool green Snake/Naga legendary and red Jackal o legendary for this, too.)

Planar Chaos was not a mistake neither was it random. You might want to look at it again.

Yeah, my one worry about a monocolor rare legend cycle is that we just got one in Aether Revolt. I'm sure that we will see trial runners, just not necessarily a cycle like that. Djeru could still be a mono-white rare, although in theory he could be other colors in addition to white.
But yeah, I really want to see a legendary snake/naga.
Maybe the Zombie Champions are like a Valhalla thing - worthy warriors are mummified, stored and waiting to be called upon by Bolas (like Vikings waiting for Ragnarok).

Well, the einherjar were pretty busy with Viking stuff in Valhalla whilst they waited for Ragnarok - they were training for it. It wouldn't be the first time Magic used the "Sleeping Army" trope, although on the other side of the moral spectrum: The Keldons, who were good guys by the time of Invasion, believed that their own worthy dead of all ages would come from the Necropolis to save them in their hour of need.
Turns out that was a pretty poor thing to believe because they were actually zombified by Yawgmoth and sent to kill Dominarians, but luckily the magical ship Golden Argosy gathered up the REAL heroes - the living Keldons and their friends.
So Djeru has to be a legendary creature, right? They don't just name cards after a character who doesn't get a card. Not anymore, anyway.
Taigam. >:(
Fair point, but I think they learned their lesson. They better have.
Or a planeswalker. A thing to keep in mind is Tarkir was focused on muti-colored factions so the legendary creatures where all in strict cycles. Being top-down mean they have more flexibility with legendary creatures.

The last story hints all who die on Amonkhet become zombies, so becoming a mummy seems like a better death then a monster like zombie.

Awesome! I did not know that bit of lore. After watching the trailer, I noticed there's a scene where it appears that a mummy is training a new Trial Participant. Perhaps this lends credence to the theory.

I'm a horror geek, so I'm really digging the mummies. I like everything about this set, save for the art. This art is sweet, but the gods are reminding me of that cat/Sphinx thing from mirrormask.
Hey does anyone know why Djeru's Resolve is preselling for $37.75 on MTGgoldfish? Was going through the spoilers and I thought that was very odd for limited common chaff.
