Found this on Deviant Art. New art for Candelabra of Tawnos by Clint Cearley who has done other MTG art.
It is for MTGO only because Reserved List, so remember that! Now discuss.
Clint's words on the piece: Created for Magic: The Gathering Online and was an image update from an older card. The art director had said I handled odd or difficult scenes well and there might be one I'd be interested in so I said send over the brief. It was definitely one of the strangest briefs I've ever received and I went through numerous concepts before arriving here. This is a portion of what I received, "This is a trick shot of a melting candle that magically contains an entire landscape, deliberately playing with the difference in scale...the device it's mounted in...is built like an orrery, a model of the solar system, with candles in place of planets...the wax has melted into a magical depiction of a landscape with a paradoxical sense of scale. The edges of the melted candle look like a mountain range; the pool of melted wax looks like a lake."
I ended up reversing the arrangement in the brief where the candle melts into the miniature world instead of the world being in the candle but the gist holds true, the image works and the AD liked the image. Hope you do too.
Ridiculous that this will only ever by used for Magic Online. What a waste of amazing art.
With a decent printer and the right skills you could make it into a physical card. I'm sure somebody will do this. (I have neither the printer nor the skills myself.)

You mean altering an original Candelabra by changing the picture with this one? I'm afraid this would count as "making the card art unrecognizable" and therefore illegal (Artistic modifications are acceptable in sanctioned tournaments, provided that the modifications do not make the card art unrecognizable, contain substantial strategic advice, or contain offensive images.).
I think he means making a fake version of this as a card. Not necessarily to cheat or anything, but to have an idea of what the card would look like if it were ever physically printed. There are Youtube videos of how to "make" MTG cards. Similar processes as counterfeits I imagine, although for a different purpose. Usually tokens or fun proxies for casual play or something. Still, I prefer having an official card over anything, but with cards like this that never will see print I can see the point of doing that.
Friendly reminder that talk about creating proxies and fakes is NOT allowed here.

That oculd be an interesting question for the rulings forum. If it is altered to look like another official art for the same card, is the art still considered unrecognizable?

So in order to get one of these in physical form, I need...
1) WotC to abolish the Reserved List;
2) Wait for them to print this in either a No More Reserved List Masters at mythic, or as a Masterpiece in a future set;
3) Buy enough product to luck out and pull one; or spend an inordinate amount of money purchasing a single?
Looks like a nice piece of art. Has no MTG flavor though. Just generic digital art. I like the idea, but not for a Magic card.

This art is FULL of flavor. Did you miss how the candle is a mountain, and there is a whole world below it?
Also for the complainers about the reserve list... how would you feel if you invested $300 on one of these cards, then the next day WOTC abolished the reserve list, reprinted the card, and it was a $20 rare? Imagine that scenario on a larger scale? Your a long time brick & mortar store, and you invested in multiple sets of power 9 years ago spending tens of thousands of dollars of your shops capital. Now WOTC abolishes the reserve list, and prints those cars and they turn into $50 rares... The reserve list is to protect their customers.

as someone who has a foil powered cube, I'd trust wotc to reprint in a way that cards were accessible at not stupid rates while not being worthless, you know like a certain masters series.

I was speaking more to the fact the art doesn't look like Magic art. It's more super slick artwork on a computer that just doesn't feel very much like Magic. I do think the subject matter is cool, just not the execution.

Sure, it`s not old school style, but it still looks pretty painting-ish compared to a lot of cards we`ve seen lately. I like it.

When I hit my 3000 post mark, I'm gone for good.
Stay reasonable, be mindful of your expectations and don't feed the trolls.
Its mainly the "fire" and the glow effect that make it look "too realistic" , and not like a painting.
The clouds and the land however look like a painting.
The artwork is pretty solid, the fire effect i dont like, but i wouldnt mind to have a Masterpiece of this (should look cool with that frame, while the "realistic" look would clash with the old school magic frame).

Don't worry, this art will ever only exist on people's computers at this rate lol

Nice art, shame about that Reserved List.
Selling some cards I don't want.
Generally less than tcg mid.
