I have divined your fate. You shall find your nemesis, a catastrophic clash. Devastation, misery for all, the unleashing of horrible curses and ferocious powers. Ruin, such ruin that I dream each night of blessed peace, assured that the universe is in balance once more...
Presumably this is to prevent Birds of Paradise, etc, from tapping for colorless? It wasn't an issue before, but with powerful colorless-only cards becoming available to all decks, it might have made them too easy to cast and activate.
Awww man. Well, I guess it had to happen. I know she was a problem card for a whole lot of people but all I was going to use her for was to untap all my lands and tap them all again to hoard mana with Kruphix's ability lol.

I hope nothing happens to it's older sister, Seedborn Muse.
Other than the price rocketing I guess....
Don't think so. Most lists that played Prophet already play Seedborn as a backup. I don't see it get banned either for it's just not quite there, but it won't spike in price due to this either. It'll just get a bit more attention.

Their page is down at the moment. Could someone please explain what "Rule 4" is and how it is changed? Thank you.
Rule 4 was basically: I am a mono G player. I somehow stole your Island. When I tap it for mana, it will produce 1 instead of U.
However that rule is now abolished. So in that same scenario a mono G player will get U mana now when they tap an Island.
Even things like Celestial Dawn or Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth will now work properly like you would think they would work.

Okay cool thanks. I was aware of that rule but didn't know its number. So just reading "Rule 4 for is abolished" didn't mean anything.
EDH banned list is based on nothing. Almost every banned card in EDH < Sol ring, yet that remains legal because hey it's a $2 card. If it had been a rare in alpha and such/worth way more it would probably have been banned a long time ago as it's better than all the power 9 with ease only power 9 are worth infinitely more.

Small correction, officially kicking in this Friday ;-)
Edit: It is actually why they removed Rule #4, since now some card will require Colorless in their costs. Rule #4 makes cards like Birds of Paradise Tap for C when it is normally unable to.

Mana Crypt costs a lot of money, is even more broken than Sol Ring, and isn't banned in Commander. (Sure, there's a big difference between $150 and $1,200.)
This is the best birthday gift I have gotten in a long time. My crusade against the prophet has finally paid off. Ding dong the witch is finally dead!
Yourself, myself and LouCypher are jumping cartwheels/breathing a sigh of relief. This is long overdue and glad it finally happened. The rest of the rules update is sweet as well, wins all around!

I never thought I would see the day they banned PoK. But they did. It literally dies to every decent removal ever printed including Bolt at 1 mana.
Prophet was essentially a gateway through which value creatures could compete with hardcore combo decks. That door is closed now and combo gets that much better.
If you are playing Lightning Bolt in EDH and it's not a gimmick deck like "mono-red 1 drops" then you are terrible at EDH. That said, I'll give you $1 each for all your Tarmogoyfs because they die to Doom Blade.

Actually, I am kind of surprised they didn't ban Sol Ring, since the general outcry was always about both it and Prophet. I don't think price is a determining factor in their bans, but it's always so arbitrary that I can't help but feel like it really is just whatever their personal playgroup experiences.

This was challenging. Prophet is not a traditionally obvious problem card for Commander,"
Who are these people?! PoK is the poster child for obvious problems.

It does make it better. This and so many other cards that were underused due to rule 4 effectively nerfing them.

I'll probably ignore the change to mulliganning if my playgroup will let me, I'm not a fan of the scry rule.
Prophet didn't deserve this, but it seems that the EDH banlist is more based on public outcry than anything else, so it makes sense.
