Tournament packs for sealed would be a great return if they introduced a new feature - card list included inside. You see, they deliberately made the new card frames machine readable for a reason.
Anyway, when I've first read Clash Packs I Immediately thought of some kind of Booster Battle, pack versus pack minigame thing.
Well seeing how core sets are supposed to be introductory sets for newer players them having an event deck is pretty pointless so it's probably those little 30 card precons with no rares made for new players to grab and try out the game.
Watch how Clash packs are really duel decks, and Event Decks are released in pairs of 2 when duel decks are released haha.
Maybe they still release Event Decks, but are no longer set associated. I didn't like how event decks had nothing to do with the set that they were associated with, and if they don't associate an Event Deck with a set, they have free reign over how they build those Event Decks, and people won't complain how there aren't enough cards from a certain set, because the Event Deck was marketed from a certain set.
Doesn't make sense to have a packaged product of 6 booster packs when you can easily buy 6 of them anywhere. As far as collectors are concerned that's already covered by the fat pack.
They're obviously 2 x 3 foot long foam packs of magic. Instead of rolling dice to decide who goes first, we will have giant booster pillow fights. First to make the other one cry gets to pick: play or draw.

I fear I won't have much time to play Magic these days.
I get to watch worlds develop around me.
I get to watch great leaders, terrible oppressors, and trend setters rise and fall.
Limited, Standard, Modern, everything is a different playing field I feel I can observe, but will not actually touch.
I look forward to the stories I will hear.
And more so to the ones I will watch unfold first hand.
Isn't the unknown exciting?
Maybe just a new product name for the Booster-Battle-Packs ?
My thought after seeing still how many of the battle packs are still sitting on shelves is that this is a replacement for them. They were a good idea but with ZERO incentive for players with any kind of experience to buy them I wouldn't be surprised if their sales are dismal.
I buy stuff like the dual decks to play against my girlfriend at times because she can get really discouraged playing against my normal decks. If this really was something like 90 cards split into two card pools for two 40 card decks and the contents were semi random then yeah I would probably buy one of those instead of packs because then the two of us could play and one or both of us could get new cards.
The battle packs were just junk cards and I have thousands of those to make decks out of if I ever want to teach that way.

i just hope it replace event deck, and have a better quality than event deck
so now you really can just go to FNM, grab one of this, open it, and have a good time.
then next week you go to another FNM, grab another one of this one, open it, mix and match with your previous one, then winning the FNM.
if it does, then i am sure a lot of new and budget player will buy it.
Wizards print good rares, players complain about cash grab. They print underwhelming rares, players complain that the cards suck. They spoil the best cards first, players complain about the insane prices of preorders. They spoil the meh cards first, players complain that this is the worst set ever.
So. I think I understand now.
As far as these forums are concerned, WotC can never do anything good because:
Card that is new and probably good = "pushed"
Card that is new and probably bad = "EDH/casual fodder"
Card that is a reprint = "lazy"
Card that is a better version of an older card = "power creep"
Card that is a weaker version of an older card = "worthless"
Event decks were the most consistently capable precons wizards has ever made, with decent cards as playsets and one or two chase cards. They even had a sideboard. I think you are dreaming if you think there is any chance of a preconstructed standard products that are better and more consistent than event decks.
Couldn't there be a product where they do something like 2 30 card mono colored decks that are designed to be played against each other, but also when you combine the two, can be played as a single 2 color 60 card deck?
So here's what I think the product will be. Clash packs will have 10 different configurations, each one having 2 30 card mono colored decks of fixed cards, and since there are 10 different combinations of 2 colors, there are 10 configurations. Each 30 card deck can be combined into 1 60 card decks. Each clash pack also contains 2 10 card pack containing only cards from a certain color, that is, your clash pack contains a mono white 30 card deck and a mono red 30 card deck. One 10 card pack will be only white cards taken randomly from M15 and the other is only 10 red cards randomly taken from M15. Finally, there includes 2 boosters.
The rare cards are always the same, and are included in the 30 card decks, so each 30 card deck has one rare. There is no rares in the 10 card packs.

From the M15 Announcement thread.
I think because of Garruk and the border change, this may have gotten overlooked. Thoughts?

We only need to wait for the announcement of the fall expansion to find out the fate of the event decks.
Though with a name like clash packs it does sound aimed at fast games so maybe 2 man drafts.
Decks used- GGarruk vs LilianaB, WElsepth vs TezzeretU, WGKnights vs DragonsR
WGRAjani vs BolasRUB, WUVenser vs KothR, RUIzzet vs GolgariGB.

Anyway I hope they still release Event Decks. If not I hope they make better intro packs.
My thoughts exactly.
Let this great clan rest in peace (2001-2011)

Also worth noting there's no Event deck on the product list. For comparison, Journey into Nyx had Event Deck listed right where M15 has the Clash Pack

This might be a 2-player starter set.

2 rares/mythics + 6 uncommons + 12 commons (for a total of 20 random cards) + 15 basic lands (3 of each type)
Each player buys one, shuffles up, and is ready to play.
