I like the voice actor they got for Xenagos, and quite frankly, I think dude has a point: The gods of Theros are posers, they aren't gods at all and they do petty things with what powers they have. Xenagos is inherently more special as a walker, has seen their lies, and is using his own mortal cunning and power to become more than he was.

How can you not be rooting for this guy?
Well, he iiiiiis tearing a hole in Theros's reality
Yes, he has figured out that the Gods are, by and large, a bunch of petty selfish jerkfaces not worthy of devotion, he's also a satyr and probably doesn't care about much more than himself.
He's exposing the lies of the Gods, not for the good of the people of Theros, but because he personally felt betrayed. He's in it for himself.
Anyone else hear the sub voice while xenagos is talking. i played it back a few times and have came up with this "At least the battle for now. A victory i'll take for my self, my place, in the sky, here and now. Everything "Heria?" is burning" couldn't get that middle part sounded like air but to long.

And many of the other gods are torturing, slaughtering, and otherwise being monstrously cruel to the humans and other sentient beings of Theros. So after Elspeth takes out Xenagos is she going after about half of the Pantheon, or is she cool with that god of torture and suffering we saw in the trailer?
I'm liking Xenagos more and more now. The voice actor they got for him did great, and the video did a good job of showing us why he isn't entirely wrong. I'm looking forward to seeing how the story develops, and now I hope it doesn't just end with Elspeth killing him and returning the status quo.

If you call "many other gods" Mogis, then yes. Something to understand about the source material for the inspiration of Theros is that the Greek gods were selfish and weren't down for the idea of everyone being friends. They protect themselves and those who benefit them. The chaos being caused by the events mentioned in the PW Guide is likely due to the gods and their respective followers bracing themselves. Maybe a tiny bit from Ashiok too.
Besides, Xenagos is a selfish brat who wants to be the big fish in a small pond and is willing to completely wreck lives and cities for it. He's jealous of the established pantheon, and Theros is paying the price.
The centaur training the little kids with sticks is adorable.

Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
I fear I won't have much time to play Magic these days.
I get to watch worlds develop around me.
I get to watch great leaders, terrible oppressors, and trend setters rise and fall.
Limited, Standard, Modern, everything is a different playing field I feel I can observe, but will not actually touch.
I look forward to the stories I will hear.
And more so to the ones I will watch unfold first hand.
Isn't the unknown exciting?
Xenagos might just be my favourite antagonist in MTG to date. I love villains with pathos and while he may not be 'evil', he's about as close as you're going to get in a R/G character. For those of you rooting for him, do consider the fact that he chose to become a god rather than undermine them by rallying morals and continuing to erase faith wherever he could. For all his posturing and dislike towards the gods, he definitely wanted that power.
Now that he has it he's relying on mortal faith just like the rest of the pantheon... I wonder if that will be his undoing in the end?
Keep in mind he's up against Elspeth, who usually...uh...loses. It's kind of her thing.
I don't actually know if he IS up against Elspeth... She may be the sun's champion, but she was called to save the mortals and so she did! She won, that's what Xenagos's big god-party was about. I imagine she wouldn't be too keen on getting herself involved in the god war beyond continuing to protect the weak and defenceless.
Unless Xenagos starts slaughtering innocents i'd say she has no bone to pick with him.
i think his voice really resembles his crazynes and fits a satyr quite well
like the video.
Yeah, you're right. I think I just have an inherent bias to believe every big bad guy to have a deep and intimidating voice. The voice he has in the actor though sounds ...mischievous? A good quality for a trickster god. He sounds like he's about to stir the pot.

He can't be worse than Heliod. Heliod said he was the best, yet he hasn't seen any constructed play ability.
When asking for if something was stolen on Kamigawa:
Have some irony:
Niv-Mizzet Ramp 'n' Wheel
Godo: Strap him up and turn him sideways!
On topic: Nice video as usual.

WotC, please hire me already.
Or Mark Hamill doing his Joker.
Still wish they'd had gotten Michael Dorn to do Nicol Bolas' voice.
