can somebody host the picture here? work proxy blocks that website.
Done.
I'm wondering if, with some acceleration of course (Pristine Talisman?), he could be viable in some strange Soul Sisters variant? Since you would draw a card off of each Sister's trigger after he comes into play.
Cool enough card, but too expensive to see actual play. If you cost seven mana, you better have some ridiculous immediate effect on the board (Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite).
That all said, this is the worst piece of art I've seen since... I don't even know when.
I think it's not that good, but there are still some shenanigans that might be interesting. At the top of your curve with Pristine Talisman in the deck? Already sounds a lot better. Now we just need to find a reason not to run Consecrated Sphinx over this...
Sphinx is really good. Control will play it and be able to protect him just fine, hes a much better finisher then Jwar Isle and thats saying a lot considering how good he alone is. Bazzar Trader.dec now has 16 threaten effects. Thats really, really, really, really good. Really good.

oh god that's stupid good. ya this guys got alot of potential.
In what universe? If you build a deck like that, and ever draw that hand, I will personally come to wherever you live, perform complicated acts of awestruck ********, then disembowel myself to escape the world that allowed something like this to occur and validate you.
Pristine Talisman says high. This card is extremely cool. It will absolutely be a powerhouse in limited. As for constructed, it essentially attacks as a 6/5 lifelink, so it could easily see play. Putting Wurmcoil engine on a Consecrated Sphinx seems hilarious.
The only thing that makes me sad about the card... it isn't legendary. Oh well, it will find a good place in EDH.
Edit: The main reason to run this over Consecrated Sphinx would be to get the lifegain benefit, while still getting the card draw, in addition to being able to deal more damage. Plus, when this attacks, because it deals damage twice, you draw 2 cards off of each attack. Then if you have a Pristine Talisman out, you draw 3 cards a turn. True, it doesn't punish your opponent for drawing cards, but it is probably independently stronger.
I do like this card, since it will trade with a titan, can get absurd with equipment, and looks like it would work well in a deck with pristine talisman or the new chalice. You just face more risk, since it doesn't give you an ETB ability, so removal is a 1-1 trade, instead of incremental advantage. I think the combo applications are probably more likely, at least while titans still roam standard.
Surprised that there aren't any cards that work the other way yet, letting you gain life for draws. Any good combos with this guy?
Only card I can think of that does that is Words of Worship. My guess is wizards is just trying to make different card draw effects that aren't as directly powerful as Fact or Fiction instead of trying to focus on life gain in lieu of card draw.
You definitely want to play this with a full set of pristine talisman. If you do, I would basically never play this until I had 7 non-Talisman mana sources and at least one talisman out to ensure getting some value. I will say that this has a reasonable chance of being better than sphinx.

I primarily play limited, so most of my spoiler season comments view cards through that lens.

Complainers that are complaining about the art and complainers complaining about the complainers that are complaining about the art. Complainception.
Anyway, if the art's intended for another audience, I can deal with that. They can stick with what they like, and I'll stick with what I like.
Either way, pure EDH awesome.

Don't really see any Constructed appeal though.

Seems like this card really wanted to be a 6 cost creature. Powerful but boring card.

I'm pretty sure you are correct; otherwise, it wouls say something like "whenever you gain life, draw that many cards." I'm not 100% on that, though.
