Jar of Eyeballs3
Artifact (R)
Whenever a creature you control dies, put two eyeball counters on Jar of Eyeballs. ,T, Remove all eyeball counters from Jar of Eyeballs: Look at the top X cards of your library, where X is the number of eyeball counters removed this way. Put one of those cards into your hand and the rest on the bottom of your library in any order.
It doesn't dump the cards like the shrine does, nor does it have to sac like the shrine, but still seems a bit "meh", might be a decent card for agro decks or something.
Yay, all you have to do is sacrifice 2 creatures and pay 6, and you can finally get an impulse, a 1U instant effect.
Might be nice for EDH, but too damned slow for anything else
This card will see a ton of play in EDH. It's colorless card draw that becomes extremely good as the game goes on, and it's card selection too. Tokens decks will love this. This is definitely going to be one of those "casual" rares that aren't worth much but hold value for a long time.
Not so much in real formats though.

On average, Magic players are worse at new card evaluation than almost every other skill, except perhaps sideboarding.
I can see it being useful in EDH decks that run a chunk of sac engines and sac bait. Standard, constructed useless, limited it has potential.

Through me the way to the suffering city; Through me the everlasting pain; Through me the way that runs among the Lost. Justice urged on my exalted Creator: Divine Power made me, The Supreme Wisdom and the Primal Love. Nothing was made before me but eternal things And I endure eternally. Abandon all hope - You Who Enter Here.
I think the idea is to have this with Undying, since you're get two deaths out of a single creature, it could start racking up rather quickly. Still seems bad tho
Really disappointing if you ask me. I love the flavor, including how you get two eyeballs. But what happens when a creature like Madrush Cyclops dies? Design flaw. The ability shouldn't cost anything in my opinion, then at least it would be playable. I am sad.
Yeah this is not as bad as people think. It's repeatable card advantage that also filters for what you need. In the right deck this won't be terrible. I won't be surprised if it doesn't see constructed play but it's not as bad as people above me seem to think.
EDIT: and it's likely rare for limited purposes only as reusable card advantage and filtering is quite good there.

It does the same thing as Shrine (puts the extra cards on bottom of library). The only difference is that it's reusable, but getting multiple uses out of it means multiple creatures of yours are dying. I'd rather have the one-shot effect of Shrine that takes nothing but waiting a couple turns and casting spells than a potential multiple use effect that takes waiting a couple turns, casting spells, and having your creatures die.
It's flavorful, yeah, but shouldn't be a rare, and just isn't good.

If I'm going to throw 6 into something, it better beat my opponents over the head and make 12 point swings and dodge removal. This might be repeatable digging, but it costs 6 and 2 sacrifices just to get to what 1U impulse did, and quite fairly at that price.
Trying to use this outside EDH or limited would be like trying to train a 3-toed sloth as a pet
Yeah, great, great flavor, practical use? Not so much. At least it is repeatable and card draw, but I can't think of a deck it would go in. Default EDH response?
Huh. Flavorfully, I like it a lot. In terms of functionality, however...it's not what I want to be doing in standard, at the moment. Playing something turn 3 that effectively does NOTHING for that first turn, and possibly never does anything, if no creatures die...? It's nice that you don't have to sac it, but...it's just not a good card. Though in EDH, I welcome this a lot more. I'll want one copy for my deck, but this isn't seeing play in standard.
Great in limited. Solid in the right EDH. And possible in a token style constructed deck.
The whole "reusable, selective, card advantage" thing is interesting.

At least it doesn't kill itself like Shrine of Piercing Vision but it still seems very overcosted to me.

Seriously...it's bad. Amazingly bad. Mimic Vat's way better.
