Legendary Creature - Elf Rogue (R)
Whenever a creature deals combat damage to one of your opponents, its controller may draw a card.

Awww, what a friggin bummer! I like him and all, and I plan to make a deck with him, but I was seriously hoping for something new that we haven't seen. All worked up and excited for nothin' now...
On a positive note, I have no idea what to build him around,. Maybe just UG good stuff with a creature focus.
EDIT: On the MTGCommander forums they've said that this is their only preview that was spoiled early. THAT IS VERY GOOD!
First, let's dispense with the bad news... yes, someone at salvation decided to be a _______ and spoil this last week, which hurts our ability to build up a drumroll for the Commander release. Oh well, stuff happens. The good news is that none of other other previews have been spoiled yet... hopefully that'll hold up for a while
Bold by me.
So the other promos we saw arn't the other previews from MTGCommnader.net...good to know
If you realistically think, "ok, when it hits the field it will be 3x the Lacerator in p/t majority of the game." you can assume it's better than it. what about cost though? "one B?!?!? no f!@#ing wey." This is where you should replace those lacerators with a death's shadow.
For some reason it slightly irritates me when people go "yawn/boooring, old news" when people see an official spoiler of a card that they have, but weren't supposed to see. It reeks of entitlement.
On topic, even though I don't play multiplayer too much I'd still throw this guy in a casual 1-on-1 deck. He's a like a lord, but for creatures with a positive power.
Hey!!!! You still have me sigged on calling you out about the mirrodin duals. Good job.
In other news, if you're not a combo piece, or breaking up a combo piece, you're trash in EDH.
Well, unless you're playing for fun (the way EDH was intended to be played.)
Also, he has a fair shot at showing up in legacy.

This guy, would either eat up several turns worth of mana to get a slow permanent that relies on your already have some board presence (after wasting said mana), or dies without generating any advantage.
I disagree. He provides a passive incentive for your opponents to attack one another. Sure, they may put those extra cards to use in ways that mess you up too, but as long as they want to keep drawing those cards, they have a vested interest in keeping you around while duking it out amongst themselves.
2nd or 3rd turn drop in a 4-6+ player game and you could watch the war erupt around you.
That's the point. The general provides an incentive for other players to attack your opponents instead of you. In exchange for that "diplomatic immunity", you're going to have to deal with opponents racking up card advantage. The best way to build around him is to take advantage of his ability so that you're getting the best reward out of it.

Well, since he's Blue/Green, he has to either be in U/G/W or U/G/R, so process of elimination at least narrows it down to one of two.

He's a card that probably will never be removed since nobody really blows up stuff that also benefits them. Yeah, totally sucks.

When you absolutely, positively got to kill every permanent in the room, accept no substitutes.

Thanks to Syndarion of Aeternal Studios for my sig!
That's most likely going to happen after one of your opponents taps out to attack another.
So Elrond here pretty much invites them to kill him as a combat trick.

What the hell are you guys talking about?
"Whenever a creature deals combat damage to one of YOUR opponents, its controller may draw a card."
It is meant to help 2-headed giant games and such...
Sheeeeesh... read the cards dudes...
Cheers,
"Whenever a creature deals combat damage to one of YOUR opponents, its controller may draw a card."
In the multiplayer format this will be played in, your opponents get cards from attacking each other.
