Mehhhhhhhh its evasion will only be so useful. And although I don't know the metagame yet obviously, I can't really see a place for this. Hell, Jwar Isle only found a few slots in UW control and that's way better IMO.
I personally like it because it is a blinking sphinx. At the same time however it is hard to work with. it costs 2UUU to summon it and then evade with it so it doesn't die due to the random Lightning Bolt or Doom Blade. I will pick up 1 just because I'm at the moment trying to make a blinking EDH deck.
Is it just me or does it feel like they put metalcraft on this just because it's in SOM? They could've printed it as always having the ability, and even then I wouldn't be sure about it seeing play. Kind of a letdown after all the hype =\

Hey, lolis with katanas are awesome, and I don't care about their home country.
The self-blink is a very powerful ability, but it is not worth playing unless you can consistently have metalcraft up. This is very interesting; if there is a metalcraft deck i think this could be a part of it. The sad part is that it may still not be good enough given power creep.
pretty cool, i suppose. i'm partial to sphinxes. i guess this guy's riddle is "what the hell home can i find in a constructed format" or "what 3 artifacts are worth running alongside me?"
i wish they would've at least given the poor guy one more point of toughness so you don't have to wait til you have 5 mana just to avoid a stray Lightning Bolt.
You guys are all crazy. This card is really strong. Does anyone remember rainbow efreet? same idea but stronger in the right deck. This card is awesome.
This sphinx is very worried about someone seeing/hitting its crotch. If you didn't want anyone to see it why'd you fly up there like that? and if someone tries to hit you there, well you can just Blink out. You're on a plane surrounded by artifacts.
On a more serious note, I like it. Self-blinking is a very useful talent, and with the number of artifacts in this block, especially for slower, controlling decks that this likes, the ability will probably be active more often than not.
There was a time in magic where frenetic efreet, blinking spirit and rainbow efreet were valid wincons in decks because the ability to dodge removal of any time was absolutely brutal. The metalcraft costs is almost negligible if you build the deck right, I think it's a strong strong control finisher.
4/4 flyer for 2UU....so right off the bat, he's comparable to Conundrum Sphinx? And people went nuts for that card when it got spoiled.
So it comes down turn 4, turn 3 off a Chalice in the right deck. And with three artifacts, which I don't think will be super difficult in the upcoming format, he blinks. So he'll dodge Condemn, Day of Judgement, Elspeth Tirel's ultimate...he'll block a colonnade or Baneslayer and blink out of harm's way.
You can swing for 4, blink it, then DoJ. And still keep mana open for a Condemn on a manland the following turn.
Yeah, I see why Chapin said it would be a staple. This could very easily be blue's next big finisher, because it lets you do all sorts of different things with it, but it also comes down early and threatens the board if it needs to. I can easily see a turn 1 Mox Opal, turn 2 Chalice @ 1, turn 3 Throne of Geth+Mana leak, turn 4 Sphinx...seems kind of awesome.

not if you have 3 artifacts and a blue mana.
