It's ok. With a Charge Counter theme it could have some uses, but I would of loved to see a Untap thing in there somewhere. (While balancing the card, of course.)
Umm.. It's allright, I suppose. You're going to need to proliferate a lot to make it worth it, though, but it should work as a "finisher" for control. Slow one, but cheap.

Being a Johnny type of player/deckbuilder, I have to say that I like this card a lot. It's a lot better than Jace's Erasure. This might be the card that makes me purchase Prototype Portal so I can build a deck with various charge counter artifacts like this one along with Power Conduit, Dismantle, Ion Storm, and Energy Chamber. Oh and it works really well with Voltaic Key.
Flavorwise it's cool but the execution is lacking 2 is a fair cost but how many turns should you "wind" the thing before starting to mill?
Assuming you go first, play Grindclock 2nd turn and your opponent has a 60 card deck and doesn't mulligan then by winding once you mill them out by turn 28. Winding twice you mill them out by turn 20. Winding 3 times you mill them out in 17 turns. Winding 4 times you mill them out in 15 turns. Winding 5 times you mill them out in 14 turns. Winding 6 times you mill them out in 14 turns. Winding 7 times you mill them out in 14 turns.
So basically it's a lot of work and even if you're opponent doesn't have an eldrazi titan to screw things up at best you can mill by turn 14 after winding 5 times(meaning that a bounce or artifact destruction spell would mean up to 5 wasted turns of winding).
So obviously it's not worth looking at as a stand alone card even in casual, however together with Voltaic Key and proliferate effects it might be worth a try.
In limited mill is decent so it's probably worth trying, just not at high pick.

I like the card. Certainly not a win-con, but it reminds me of Millstone. Basically does the same thing, but cheaper than Millstone to use. Getting some for my casual mill deck.

i think you guys are seeing it the wrong way ...this can have uses for dredge ...will there be a dredge deck in standard after shards rotates? dunno ...but you'll never know ...
You mean in order to play something like this with Grindlock?

Out of the blackness and stench of the engulfing swamp emerged a shimmering figure. Only the splattered armor and ichor-stained sword hinted at the unfathomable evil the knight had just laid waste.
Energy Chamber basically makes the time it takes in winding the clock a moot point as the chamber does the winding for you. While it does that, you can mill all you want and it gets better with each turn.
Cute with voltaic key and in multiples with proliferate. Curves well with the cantripping proliferate sorcery and with key. Otherwise, milling is a pretty hard strategy to justify these days with Eldrazi running around for another year and last time I checked, Hedron Crab is still legal and better in multiples without even requiring proliferate support. And if you're re-animating, the crabs are still a ton better.
I'd hate to open this in limited. Hope the pack has a darksteel sentinel or a volition reins (or a foil venser?!)...
