If you've been dealt damage by two or more creatures this turn, you may pay rather than pay Inferno Trap's mana cost.
Inferno Trap deals 4 damage to target creature.
Sorry I guess I wasn't fast enough with the edit, all the 3's are accounted for due to shieldmate's blessing. So it would seem to only do 2 damage, as I can't see it doing 4.

according to current spoiler
22 of 24 instances of opponent are already used.
so looks like we do have room for another opponent based trap.
also it appears to be 3 damage now I think.

if its 3 damage, the non-trap cost is actually still very viable.

Just to nitpick, is there an instance of "player" left in the orb? It seemed like this was added in in the other thread without having been checked.
Also, compare to Sulfurous Blast. That did 3 damage to each creature or player as a sorcery, or only 2 as an instant, had a more prohibitive cost, and did not have the trap cost. There's no card in the gatherer that just does 3 damage to each creature (besides an "entwined" Firespout), but I'd figure it'd cost 2Rish, with instant speed tacking one on to that. So even as creature-only it's probably above the curve.
Edit: If it's really 2 damage, it's probably fine hitting players. Steam Blast, for example, did it for 3 as a sorc.

Either way, we're looking at an instant speed mass burn spell here, and that's not too shabby at all.
It won't be 1 damage due to the new Instant speed Tremor, and Lavaball hits for 4 to all creatures. 2 or 3 damage seems to be right, and I'm leaning towards 2, because that seems fair.
4 instances of player left so that should be fine, I don't think there's that many instances in the cards not yet on the spoiler. Also 3 doesn't quite cut it due to shieldmate's blessing, and also I believe there was unspoiled card with kicker 3 right? That uses up all the instances of 3. Marsh Casualties has kicker 3, eliminating the possibility of 3. It either does 4 or 2, probably 2.

Unfortunately it probably gets edged out by Volcanic Fallout unless some combination of the following happens: Kicker runs rampant, permission control is nowhere to be found, and 3-toughness creatures abound.
Of course, Vampires fulfills two of those between the Gatekeeper and Nighthawk/ Vampire Nocturnus (when he's "off", at least)

Hmmm it may be simply if a spell was kicked, letting you trigger itself oddly enough, or the something else altogether might use the kick trigger. Gyarrr I must have, double checked and there's 1 instance left of opponent.
I like it for filling a niche in 2-damage instant sweepers. For a deck that just splashes red without a heavy commitment (so no Volcanic Fallout) and that's not Jund colors (so no Jund Charm), I could see myself using this. If I'm not running Pyroclasm for some reason.

Double check. If this is the case, I'll update the OP and the card is now even easier to trigger.
Are you sure it's not 3? I really, really, really hope it is - We already ahve Pryoclasm, Fallout, and Jund Charm - it'd be really nice to have a replacement for Firespout, in mono red. I guess for 3R that's pretty nice though, making it better than Sulfurous Blast, so probably not.

Mark Rosewater: "We won't print contstructed utility cards at Mythic."
Nope, you'll print format defining, absolutely necessary cards at mythic instead.
Well the thing is that it can't be 3 due to their being too many instances in the orb. It's possible something spoiled as having the number 3 could actually have the word three. Maybe Sunspring expedition. I think the rest of the quest cycle all use word numbers instead. If that's in error it's certainly possible, but we're assuming it's right for the moment until proven otherwise.

Sunspring Expedition should not have the number 3, it should be the world three.
If your opponent kicked a spell this turn, you may pay rather than pay Inferno Trap's mana cost.
Inferno Trap deals 2 damage to each creature and player.
This is the result of our hard work with the Orb. It's not 100% guaranteed, but it matches what's left for red.
(assuming that's right)
If your opponent played a kicked creature, chances are it's bigger than it would have been if it wasn't kicked. So it won't really matter if you manage to cast it for one mana... it probably didn't kill their threat.
Inferno Trap- It's a 1cc more Volcanic Fallout without the uncounterability, but with a less red heavy cost and with a alternate trap cost which while not exactly easy to activate will happen occasionally even in standard and a fair amount in limited given some of the better kicker cards we've seen. All in all limited good, constructed doubtful(at least while Fallout is around).
Instant - Trap (u)
