It's understandable blue control players would be shocked and in denial at the notion of this card, since their decks have been dominating multiple formats for an eternity yet they've curiously never once had to deal with any counter-hosers that weren't ineffectual, narrow CRAP.
The whole Ally thing seems very limiting to me. They are all very expensive, and though this guy can offer some draw, is it worth it? Naw.

Reminds me of Azami, Lady of Scrolls. Better P/T, since it can block a bear, but you lose the ability to draw the turn it comes into play, which means you aren't up a card when they remove it. It also depends on whether there are good allies. Azumi was playable as a one or two-of in MUC back in Kami/Rav.
I don't really see this being that useful outside of permission control, and probably not even there. It dodges the Volcanic Fallout, but still gets hit by Lightning Bolt. I think something based on Allies is probably going to want a beater at this mana cost.

Eh, we've seen a lot of rare ones. Hopefully the commons will be a bit cheaper. The discard ally is okay, and this one seems pretty awesome. Even with just him it's a bonus card a turn. Even with 1 other ally that's a devastating effect.
We have only seen one common ally and it was good. If we get more like the rief survivalist allies will be good. If not in constructed in limited. I find it that when you can get small things to work together in limited it is much more fun than in constructed.
I don't think that they are trying to influence a 5 colour ally deck. Rather there would be various types of ally decks springing up with different colour combinations.
wow...k....see this might be playable if Allies weren't soo terrible...
maybe they might be playable if we got an artifact that reduced the cost of allies by 4, it was indestructable, had shroud, has split second, and shroud while on the stack....
good thing changeling is out of standard, or this could be crazy beyond
why is everybody afarid of CC5 or higher. These scream synergy, not like slivers though, but still. Someone always find a way to bend things like this.
As they are, Allies are really aweful and not so much playable. But I have my doubts that WotC created them to be aweful. I'm sure there are more (hopefully great) things about them. As it is, this new card doesn't make sense. After we see the whole set, who knows, maybe it can be a very strong card.
One thing. I love Archivist. Sure, it usually bits the dust eventually, but not before it buys me lots of CA. This does the same, but will last longer (+0/+2), and can generate more CA than archivist. It therefore costs more.
Still, I love it.
I assume there is a rare Ally cycle going on.
Most of them have single C in their costs, to allow them to be splashed easily.
Is Archivist what we compare this to these days? If so, it is appropriately priced. Nothing amazing (archivist type guys rarely are), but a card advantage machine in limited.
