Transmute in, transmute out, aggro folds. A reason to play Borderposts. Interesting enough.

Ha ha ha. I love it. First off, the border looks awesome (as seen on Ethercaste Knight). Secondly, the amount of life you can gain off this card in a stalemate Limited game (easy to accomplish playing Esper) is downright hilarious. You'll usually get 6 just for having an Obelish and her, which means that more times than not she's a 4/4 flyer for 8 that gains you six life, and sucks. Still, in Limited that will often do the job. There's virtually no chance of this being Constructed playable.
It might make it into my T4 stack, though. Woot woot!
Could be annoying in multiplayer, à la Congregate, though of course the card type being much less prevalent. Not sure this card was worth defacing the divine concept of an angel by adding etherium to it, but I'm sure enthusiasts will live.
Next we have a card that has a huge immediate effect that is very relevant vs aggro even if they remove it with their precious white removal (which they always have against you) and now people complain that the card is not big enough.
Sorry, but turn 6-7-8 against aggro you're either dead or already winning, thus making this lifegain pointless. In aggro matchups you need lifegain ASAP, that's what is making Ajani Vengeant, Kitchen Finks/card] and Knight of Meadowgrain good. At least, that's one of the things which makes them good.
You really just need to embrace the rage. I keep a small colony of hamsters next to my computer and every time I lose a match to mana screw I throw one against the wall.
I think WotC had to make this a high-cost card because of the scope of life-gain that's possible with it. If a non-Transmuter Esper build could fire this off turn three or four with Etherium Sculptors easily, then that's sort of unfun, who wants to sit across a player who just gained 12-15 life and gets a 4/4 flier(or larger with Master of Etherium) all at once?

Several years ago, WotC apparently surveyed Magic players across the globe. They found that people liked turning things sideways, and hated LD. This is the result:
If someone ever reanimates this againts me I will come to the conclusion that the game is over and im probably going to win. You dont play reanimator with a 4/4 that gives you very little life.
I bet in a couple of years Magic's curve will start at 8.... I'm so sick of all these useless 8 mana dudes that aren't even exciting to play. You'd think they could have made a better card with a new artifact angel.
Dont judge big ceratures on their mana costs. To be playable 7+ costing creatures are cheated into play via reanimator or from your hand via esper chick for example. Otherwise they are of course not viable for constructed magic (unless its onslaught block)
So it has potential against aggro in the right deck.
Transmuter is casual card, casual. In constructed deck it will be 1 of max, to search with Sphinx Summoner and Tezzeret the Seeker. Meaning that angel will hit the desk too late.
In good reanimator creatures come online turn 4, so how many life do you expect to gain with angel? 3 to 6? Also, Solar Flare(last succesful reanimator deck) played only those creatures it could pay for without reanimating them, meaning cmc 6 max. Not the case of angel.
Wow an 8 mana sorcery that let's me gain 3 life for each artifact... not bad for esper in limited... crap rare though
Oh wait it's a creature? Wow it just went from "not bad" to "almost decent". Still a crap rare unless someone can make a ridiculous combo with it in Standard.
I feel sorry for esper... naya, jund and bant are just laughing at it while grixis is going 'Hey, seems like I'm not the worst shard after all'. Seriously, 3 creatures with cc 7+ is kinda sick... did wizard want to make esper completely unplayable?
Please let me me guide your eyes to a thread called "Sen Triplets".
I'm calling it right now- worst rare in the set. Even good limited players will find better bombs at common and uncommon no sweat. Worst. Episode. Ever.
I really do predict this to be our worst rare in set award winner. I'd be happier opening a jar of eyeballs, so I think anything worse is highly unlikely. This card wont just have zero constructed potential, but not be significantly better than a mass of ghouls in a draft.
Okay, the ability is good for artifacts, but really a 5/5 body would have made me actually like this. 8cc is too much for a 4/4, even if it flies and nets life.
This is for sure a 2 of in my Transmuter Control deck, as are the posts, which obviously work extremely well with this effect. Esper really needed lifegain of some type that could be abused with Transmuter in order to keep it alive vs. aggro decks.
Only problem I see here though is the fact that the card was obviously balanced around the transmuter, and thus the effect/body of the creature is not nearly as strong as one might expect. I think this easily could have been a bit more beefy (5/5, maybe?) and still been balanced. Definitely playable in transmuter.dec though.
Edit:8cc? Ah dang I misread. Probably only a 1-of now.

It needs to be rare because it's breakable in Timmy's eyes (and maybe Johnny's too) and it's a big bomby creature. Rare doesn't always mean better.

This... This is just another Heroes Remembered, Ancestral tribute or Invincible Hymn kind of crap. This time with a 4/4 body attached, but bringing less life. So nothing to gain here, move along.
My Mishra.dec might build around it for lulz.
