There we go, it's updated now. I guess we crashed their site (again)
Rhys the Redeemed: I LOVE cheap legends, and this is one tasty little mana! Splashable, too. I wonder if this means we need to have new 1/1 Elf Warrior tokens printed.... because they're green AND WHITE instead of just green. Both abilities are very tasty. I'll play this version of Rhys.
Godhead of Awe: Hopefully will be less of a rules headache than previous cards that tell creatures to simply BE a certain power and toughness. I'm sure the "what happens if I have Giant Growth" questions will still be rampant. In all, I think it's pretty tasty. Keep in mind, it sets their power and toughness, but it doesn't make them lose their abilities. They'll still have first strike, activated abilities, and so on.
Grim Poppet: You want to get those counters off him asap, obviously. I dunno, 7 for a 1/1.... even with that tasty ability, I'm not sure it's going to be a hit.
Rhys is officially the on drop my elf deck has been looking for.
Unfortunately, the scarecorw isn't exactly stellar.

As much as I'm against the OTT view that this card is going to solo tournaments, cure cancer and make Susan Boyle attractive I'm not really a fan of the opposing camp who think it slaughters puppies and sired Justin Bieber.
Godhead of Awe could be annoying, especially if they have anthems to back it up.
Rhys seems like he'd be awesome with doubling season(s) to triple your token count at once.
Grim poppet seems like he could easily be part of a vertical cycle.
Elspeth "we must fight to protect order and justice!"
Tezzeret "No! he will break all my artifacts and stomp my head!"
Vol "powerful dragon must be brought to heel!"
Ajani "**** this Im outta *planeswalks to lorwyn* wow what hell is this place?"
Little lorwyn goblin "this be the place of bad art and Tribes!!!"
All other Alara planeswalkers "hey where did ajani go???"
the artifact creature isn't impressive at all. who wants to pay seven to put some -1/-1
counters on a few creatures? why does rhys have horns? they were destroyed in the lorwyn book.
godhead of awe isn't very good either imo. it just doesn't seem very good only being a 4/4 that can be killed by many things such as terror, crib swap, oblivian ring, shriekmaw, ect...
Godhead of Awe seems like fun. But overall out of these three previews I am most interested in the poppet. Neither of the rares seem game-breaking like I would expect the first previews to be. Although Rhys + Kiki Jiki looks fun
Well we got our second member of the avatar cycle and damn if it isnt a really cool looking card combines almost too well with the -1/-1 counter theme of the set
The scarecrow is coloreless removal that gets bigger the more it kills looks great to me.
And Rhys seems to be the new doubling season and though expensive combos well with hte large number of creature token generators we have in standard
EDIT: the minisite also seems to have a few cards from magazines that we missed included in there is the persist mechanic which looks like a fun mechanic to play around with
Every rarity gets good cards. That means that some mythic rares will be tournament quality as will some commons, some uncommons and some rares. My promise wasn't that mythic rares wouldn't get good cards but that we wouldn't limit the good cards to only being mythic rare.
Bear this in mind the next time a powerful mythic rare is spoiled
Thanks to chaostheory90 for finding this quiz for me
Yeah, it's pretty much a foregone conclusion that neither card will be at all relevant for Constructed.
That being said, both are pretty sick in Limited. Nothing is gonna be more demoralizing than seeing the reverse-Trike hitting play on your opponent's side.
Wow, both are cool cards. I like Rhys alot more (new win condition for TurboFog), but the robot ain't too bad. I wish it was a little bit bigger, but I'm sure there will be tons of ways too add -1/-1 counters to it, and if alot of the removal in SHA is based on counters, he'll be great.
Wow, Godhead is great. I can't get over how much he hoses the tribal-based aggro decks that are running around.

But consider he's a one drop. Those powers are amazing for a one drop (which also explains their price). True, it's no tourney staple like Grim Lavamancer but I like the elegance and low initial cost.

Rhys is absolutely terrible. Parallel Evolution is a cool card, but not at that cost stuck on a one drop 1/1.
The Poppet, however, is very nice. 7 mana to kill anywhere from 1-3 creatures, and you get a 4/4 in the process. Plus, it has interactions with any -1/-1 token cards in the set. Not to mention its a scarecrow carrying barrels of acid, its so doesn't get better than that. Triskelavus saw all sorts of play, and the lack of flying does hurt, but this is definitely good. Maybe not playable in any current deck, but we'll see...
Edit: At Godhead of Awe; Yes please. Not only is that phenomenal in any set (hey Tarmogoyf and Doran) but its even better considering the -1/-1 theme in the set. Fantastic name, art, and flavor. I think this Demigod/Godhead/god cycle is going to be one of the best in years.
Man. Wilt-Leaf Cavalier was a big let down. But then again it could have had more dangerous mechanics attacked to it like trample or lifelink. Persist is freakin' awesome. Not too amazing but it can get annoying quick. Anyway, this first official preview day has actually been fairly good. Not TS good but few sets are.
Grim Poppet - A card that goes into any deck as long as you can pay seven colorless mana so that you get a 4/4 artifact creature and chance to kill 3 toughness worth of creatures. Is that good? You tell me.
Rhys the Redeemed - A one drop that might do something later on. I'm betting that a deck that plans to use him wouldn't want to drop him on turn one, that and it'll have thousand year elixir or something like that...
Godhead of Awe - now THIS is how you make more "law cards on a stick." Looks like people have been reading all those "How to save white" threads on multiple forums (there are some of those in other places).
I had really hoped they wouldn't use -1/-1 counters, those would be confusing as hell with all the +1/+1 counters going around.
I take it to mean that Leech Bonder untaps as a part of the activation cost? Now, can he use the ability if he's already untapped? I don't think so, but I'm not sure. (Recalling an Ask Wizards where they errata'ed tapper/untappers to say "you may", I think the reason being that you couldn't untap an untapped creature.)
Wow.
Rhys is really bad.
Theres just much better token producers than him.
and his abilities cost way too much.
Yeah, but he is a one-drop, and only needs one of the two colors to be useful. the crappiness of the card is offset by cheap cost and color versatility. This will probably be true for other hybrid cards. And horns are like hair, they grow back eventually.
Inkfathom infiltrator is like a shadow creature, except without the interaction with others like it.
I like how the persist ability interacts with leechbonder. Does anybody get it?

Grim Poppet is awesome! Hope I get one at the pre-release! At the very least, its Fomori Nomad + Terminate
Godhead of Awe seems extremely good. New standard defining critter?
Not sure how good Leech Bonder will be. It depends on how the untap mechanic works, I guess?
I also like the Cavaliers. Watchwolf with Vigilance and one extra toughness for an extra mana? Yes plz.
Also, Persist seems good, but with all the -1/-1 counters, how good will it be?
Mad props to Spiderboy at HighLight for the sig!

My Tamanoa decklist (RGW), infuriating my brother since it's so junky!

Grim Poppet looks pretty sick, a great universal SB strategy against weenie rush strategies. Rhys is....meh, as usual.

Though I like where they are taking this to, particularly in limited. All the -1/-1 counters, the untapping, it's going to make limited crazy!
Check out my pauper cube!

Limited is awesome, join us at [Limited]!
This is just me, but a 7 drop isn't all that great of a choice to combat weenie rush...
