I request some images specific, about some restlessness, and this is what I arrive at my mailbox. pardon but the image of field marshal is not new. Some error typing.
Wouldn't Thrull Surgeon be considered too advanced for the core set?
Why? Distress is in. Thrull Surgeon is like Coercion on legs. And the timing issue is simple enough, and would actually help new players with the concept of 'you can play activated abilities any time unless they specifically say that you can't'.
I just thought of something: maybe another reason they're un-Lording Lord of Atlantis and friends is because of Field Marshall. He's just a high-ranking officer but certainly not as high up as, say, a king, or even a champion. Logically speaking, it's also impossible for a soldier to be a lord because soldiers work for lords.
Actually, I'm almost more excited about filling a deck with Relentless Rats, dropping one in the yard and casting Extirpate, and then drawing only goodies from then on. Probably will suck, but I've gotta try it :D.
(M:tG) It's a hobby which costs money. You can't play golf without the right clubs and a membership for the golf court, you can't play paintball with a cardboard armor and a sling, you can't go to the movies without paying for a ticket and you can't play Magic without owning the cards. Simple as that.
I, for one, am another who is happy to see Grave Pact back. During the Kamigawa/Rav standard, I had a very evil G/B deck that used Natuko Husk and Grave Pact to pump, wipe, and swing ftw. If that didnt work, Mortivore and Svogoth, Restless Tomb were there to back me up That deck took me to more FMN wins than any other deck Ive ever built.
You could get that picture blackbordered in Urza's Destiny since the card was first printed... or Russian bb 9th for that matter. But yeah, new design and all.
It actually appeared in portal second first with the awesome Edward Beard art. See Ravenous Rats.

People are products of their own ingenuity; they are who they choose to be.
What's funny about Thrull surgeon is I was going through my old stuff the other day and pulling out cards that still might have some value. I took about every card that might playable in standard if reprinted and set them aside, but I distinctly remember passing up thrull surgeon.
Oh, and I passed up Steel Golem. I should expect to see Fallen Askari or Song of Blood in a new set at this rate...

Why would it? It's just Coercion on a stick, basically.

Plus he joins my little discard army. :3
And Field Marshall is still not on a field. LOLz.
EDIT: fnord beat me to it.

Augustin, Rasputin, Bruna, Brago, Ojutai
mostly because field Marshalls spend most of the time in a tent planning and prearing for the upcoming battle.

i thought we had a source that said the lucky charms wouldn't be back, yet now we have two that aid they are back
We misinterpreted it.
They said 'charms' won't be back. (Piracy Charm, etc)
Wishful thinking meant that they were "lucky" charms, but...we lose.

The rest all seem pretty normal to me.

Then... this really is the best Core Set ever.
And here I thought it was just card shop banter and my eyes playing tricks on me...
Nope, you'll print format defining, absolutely necessary cards at mythic instead.
Thrumming Stone + Relentless Rats ftw!

Coercion was in the core set for years, so I wouldn't think so.
Shame about Soul Warden - I was hoping Essence Warden would take its place, since gaining life for creatures should always have been green.

The internet is like drugs, it can be alot of fun, but most people on it say really stupid stuff
