A friend of a friend of a bothers friends mother, might have mentioned that Visions is now available on the beta. Now I'm not saying its true, but this is what I overheard this person say.....:rolleyes2:
Madchemist, next time, be a little more careful with your posts, this is a possibility, but the way you've done it should be considered spam.
Next time, you could be warned for spamming it all up in the 'mill
I just recieved a PM stating that Visions is indeed on the beta server for MTGO... Thanks!
Thread re-opened for now. Please don't post unless you can add something new, or interesting, to the topic, o.k? All off topic posts will be deleted and warnings will ensue.
Any how they have been redoing alot of old tests on MTGO so maybe this is true... unless I misread the topic, I am a little confused as to what you are attepmting to say.
I think Visions actually brings a lot to the table. Besides actual powerful cards like Vamp Tutor, it also fleshes out the ProsBloom deck and gives some fun casual options like Chimeras in Tribal. Also, adding a pack of Visions to Mirage drafting *greatly* improves the experience. I think that once Visions is released, the sales of Mirage (which have been sluggish after the initial boom) will actually pick up a bit. The more sets that get released to improve the Classic format online, the more people will play. And that means picking up stuff from Mirage.
Since the original statement about Visions was that it would be released pending a good showing from Mirage, I'm glad to see it arrive. I know that Mirage hasn't done incredibly well (at least compared to Ravnica - the most popular Magic set of all time, it seems), but I'm glad to see that Wizards knew that this would be the case and their expectations were realistic. Once we get through the chaff that is Visions and Weatherlight, we can finally get into the meat of things with Tempest. I think that will be a huge seller, and I'm sure most would agree.
There wasn't an announcement because it's just an add-on to Mirage..it's not a brand new set, and it's not a big set. When it comes to stuff like Tempest, Ice Age, etc, they'll probably make announcements..but with the smaller sets, I doubt this will happen.
We knew that it would be added, but, it just became part of the beta program within the last couple of days..which presumably means that it'll go online relatively soon, maybe when GP does.
They may wait until after GP is released before announcing it officially. Its bad enought that we have to wait a month and a half after the prerelease for a set to be released. I'm already down for dissention and GP isnt released for another 2+ weeks.
I have no idea when they will release this. Maybe shortly after GP??? We already have an additional release this year (CS). Peeps only have so much cash to spend, they may skip this for the more supported sets...
This is very interesting. Though, I find it hard to get excited about the release of a set that has 0% tourney support outside of Visions drafts. I felt the same way about Mirrage. There are some excelent cards in both sets, but without any support; it's more or less a waisted effort

I doubt they'll have release events, etc, for Visions..they just did it for Mirage to get everyone 'into' Classic. Visions is just an extension of Mirage.
I will say, drafting Mirage/Visions/7th on Beta was interesting..but weird.
It's not a wasted effort, because it makes the Classic Format better. Eventually, I'm sure, all sets from Ice Age forward will be available on MTGO, and Classic will be a real format...but they have to release the worse sets just like they have to release the better ones. Besides, Visions has Vampiric Tutor
Soon we can make the classic prosperous bloom decks. The one missing ingrediant is Storm Seeker. However, with new dual lands, Sudden Impact could work. Or if they really reprint everything, chronicals has the on color Storm Seeker.
I am very excited about this. Does anyone know typically how long a set will remain in beta before it is announced and released?

I am looking for Date Stamped promos from Khans of Tarkir block so I can finish my set. Check my wants if you have any.
Currently offering 2 non-foil Kolighan's Command for a Date Stamped foil!
It varies per set..GP is in beta for a month, and they just added Visions within the last few days...it's not nearly as hard to test, because it doesn't have really wonky mechanics like they make nowadays.
I don't think they'll reprint Chronicles..I'd be surprised if they even print Fallen Empires or Homelands..I think they're just going to print the sets that are part of 'blocks'.
Im just wondeing if they continue to release old sets in chronological order, will they re-release IPA? i know that it will be years before they do so but in that time wont the price of those cards go even higher? all the people who bought IPA cards at the high prices will be pissed when the market is flooded with them.

i don't think they will redo invasion. or at the least they will discontinue the trade in program for it if they make it avalible again.
personally i'm looking foward (2 or more years from now) for the release of tempest online. tempest block IMHO was the best to draft ever
I don't know if this is the right forum, but I just noticed that the guiding spirit in Visions has been changed from Angel to Spirit - I have to believe that this further corroborates the story ... not that it sounds like it was needed ...
Very disappointed - I wanted to use guiding spirit in my angel tribal deck!

Actually, all the Visions creatures have had their types updated.
But your example does raise an interesting question: if you can have Demon Spirits, and Dragon Spirits, why not Angel Spirits?

The new duals won't do anything for Prosperous Bloom, since Natural Balance only fetches basic lands. You'd be better off running City of Brass and eventually *fingers crossed* Gemstone Mine.
I wouldn't faff about with Sudden Impact either, since you can kill your opponent with Drain Life (the traditional kill card in Bloom) or Death Grasp.

Religion. Angels in Magic have been deliberately distinguished from spirits so as not to offend people of various faiths.
I don't think Mistform Ultimus did offend anyone
but anyways, it's great that they put Visions on mtgo, it'll definitely allow old school decks to come back (any other gd cards in that set other than the ones used in prosbloom?)
Natural Order, Man-'o-War, a few others. ProsBloom was the big deck, though.
!!!
More than a few others. In my opinion, Visions is one of the sets with the highest proportions of playable cards, and is tremendously under-rated. For example: Creeping Mold, Emerald Charm, Fallen Askari, FIREBLAST, Funeral Charm, Honorable Passage, IMPULSE, Nekrataal, River Boa, Quicksand, Quirion Ranger, Rainbow Efreet, Stampeding Wildebeests, Viashino Sandstalker, Tithe, Undiscovered Paradise and the Sex Monkey are all highly playable. Then there's also the solid stuff like Longbow Archer, Waterspout Djinn, Necrosavant and Suq'Ata Lancer.

Hey guys, Visions in beta.
If you use Frank Karsten`s Online Tech to see how popular a specific deck is, I just made it twice as efficient. You`re welcome.
