Looks like I get to be the bearer of more promotional card news found on eBay. The same guy who earlier sold the DCI promo Pernicious Deed, Grim Lavamancer, and Exalted Angel is now auctioning the last of the four 2006 series cards to be given to premier event judges, Meddling Mage.
Well now they got 2 of my tops 3 favorite cards in judge foil (the other is balance) all thats left is a foil judge promo force of will

Every rarity gets good cards. That means that some mythic rares will be tournament quality as will some commons, some uncommons and some rares. My promise wasn't that mythic rares wouldn't get good cards but that we wouldn't limit the good cards to only being mythic rare.
Bear this in mind the next time a powerful mythic rare is spoiled

I hear this card is pretty good.
think pithing needle just a little worse because it is colored that and it can't stop cards already out makes it sick
I really have a distaste for the fact that you judges get the most playable promos of any of us while we common folk get chaff like OldArt Hypnotic Specter and Circle of Protection: Red.
They should've made it a player rewards card, so normal people could get it too, not just judges. This would be so much better than DCI Hypnotic Specter.

Yeah, of course. Uhum. Okay, alright.
Nice art, but, i somehow like the original one. Meh. Only one that actually got better, IMO, was the Lavamancer.
And yes, no incantatrix for you. Or anyone. That class makes puppies cry. Mostly because they are the former Big Bads who have been Baleful Polymorphed into said puppies. By you. Because you're an incantatrix.

Am I the only one who finds the original art horrible? This one is, in my opinion, much better. No more horribly disfigured pikula(:D), his eyes are really weird in the original art. And that smile is creepy..
A lot of people seem to forget (or not know) that DCI Judges are not paid employees of WOTC. So if you factor in the long hours they work (or miss work), these promo cards don't really amount to much. On top of that, judge promos come only once in a blue moon... So no, judges don't really have all the luck.

Oh the balance foil is available on ebay (only level 3 judges get it) but I live in Canada so it would cost me $100+ if Im spending that much money on a card I might as well get a mox. Its beautiful art on that card. Definitely my favorite card Ive ever had the pleasure of playing with.

Yeah, Judge cards aren't hard to get.... and most judges sell theres. In fact, almost all of them do. Not many actually collect them, but they are specialties awarded to the Judges for their long hours of devotion to this wonderful game we all play.
I've got two Balances, a Pernicious Deed, four Grim Lavamancers, and two 'Geddons, plus 3 Exalted Angels on the way and I'm not a judge and I also don't fork the cash for them either. They are expensive, and not quite worth the trouble unless you know people (and I know quite a few judges who recieve these awesome cards and go straight to eBay, or they call me

Wotc printing money once again. I am dying of jealousy but I do believe it that the judges deserve these sort of cards for their dedication and hard work.
First Pernicious Deed, then Exalted Angel, then Lavamancer, and NOW THIS?!?!? This inhumanity has to stop. We must get a petition going!!! Or, we could resort to what we always do, and sob in the corners of our closets wishing we were judges so that we could get these unfairly amazing cards. Oh well, better get started.
Hmmm.. Is there a minimum age for the judge test? I think there is, but I can't find it anywhere. My local J3 has already suggested that I take the test, and now *drool*
Basically, wait for a semi-major even to be held in your area, contact the TO (or go to the company's website; Star City oftentimes has this) and set yourself up for your Level 1 test. Be prepared to get up at the buttcrack of dawn and be a runner for all the other floor judges, get interviewed, and take a written test.
Hint: Brush up on DCI policy...wish I had done that

To get these puppies, not only do you have to be a judge, you have to judge a major event like a Pro Tour, Nationals, or Worlds.

The idea of a 14 year old head judge worries the hell out of me. Seriously.
