The obligatory overcosted 2/2 flyer with off-colour ability.
Conclave's Blessing - 3W
Enchantment - Aura (C)
Enchant creature
Convoke (Each creature you tap while playing this spell reduces its cost by or by one mana of that creature's color.)
Enchanted creature gets +0/+2 for each other creature you control.
*thinks*
*thinks some more*
Okay, but wait... what does this actually do? One of your saprolings becomes 1/13?
*thinks*
But but but but...
Necromancer's Thirst - 2BB
Enchantment - Aura (C)
Enchant creature
Whenever enchanted creature deals combat damage to a player, you may return target creature card from your graveyard to your hand.
Goes nicely on a Woebearer, right? Probably limited breakable, constructed forgetable.
Golgari Thug - 1B
Creature - Human Warrior (C)
When Golgari Thug is put into a graveyard from play, put target creature card in your graveyard on top of your library.
Dredge 4 (If you would draw a card, instead you may put exactly 4 cards from the top of your library into your graveyard. If you do, return this card from your graveyard to your hand. Otherwise, draw a card.)
1/1
Appears to be the first appearance of correct Dredge wording, hmmm? Seems to make more sense now. Why "exactly" 4? Anyway, dredge makes me understand why Fecundity was taken out of the Core Set, those bastards.
/me shakes fist at R&D * Coalhauler Swine - 4RR
Creature - Beast (C)
Whenever Coalhauler Swine is dealt damage, it deals that much damage to each player.
4/4
Limited creature filler, obviously. A little overpriced, but depending what else where is in the red common spots, might get picked around the middle of the pack. They don't want to block it with their big fatty, I guess. Doesn't inspire me to build a deck around it.
Bramble Elemental - 3GG
Creature - Elemental (C)
Whenever an Aura becomes attached to Bramble Elemental, put two 1/1 green Saproling creature tokens into play.
4/4
Mmmmm, yes. Sweet creature type and name, great ability, nice chunky body at 5 mana. Obviously great with Convoke, and probably in certain Dredge builds also.
Farseek - 1G
Sorcery (C)
Search your library for a Plains, Island, Swamp, or Mountain card and put it into play tapped. Then shuffle your library.
YEEEEESSSSSSSS, dual lands baby! Great flavour on the name (you explore for a non-forest..... you farseek). Fetches any original dual or Rav dual into play tapped. Rampant Growth for any dual land - very high quality common! All but completely replaces Rampant Growth in every situation.
Lurking Informant -
Creature - Human Rogue (C) (:symub: can be paid with either or :symb:) 2, : Look at the top card of target player's library. You may put that card into that player's graveyard.
1/2
A 1/2 for cheap makes for a good common. The ability is very useful either to mess with your opponent (either by milling them to death or by jerking around their draw quality) or help yourself (either by filling your yard with useful cards or by increaseing your draw quality). Incredibly versatile little rogue. Possible constructed playable.
Rally the Righteous - 1RW
Instant (C)
Radiance - Untap target creature and each other creature that shares a color with it. Those creatures get +2/+0 until end of turn.
Yet another Army of Allah variant, and quite powerful. Best used either to pump your army on the attack (untapping it to prevent the counterstrike) or use as a surprise when being attacked to decimate everything that comes at you. Seems solid at 3 mana.
Shambling Shell - 1BG
Creature - Plant Zombie (C)
Sacrifice Shambling Shell: Put a +1/+1 counter on target creature.
Dredge 3 (If you would draw a card, instead you may put exactly 3 cards from the top of your library into your graveyard. If you do, return this card from your graveyard to your hand. Otherwise, draw a card.)
3/1
I'm loving the Golgari flavour. Everything's dead, alive, dying, and coming back at the same time. This is exactly how I feel black/green should be, always. The card itself is very solid and I'd definitely play this at the prerelease, and I'm going to put a couple copies in my black/green Fecundity/Unearth/Phyrexian Ghoul/Rancor/Hunting Moa/Deranged Hermit casual deck. :smile2:
Dimir Guildmage -
Creature - Human Wizard (U) (:symub: can be paid with either or :symb:) 3U: Target player draws a card. Play this ability only any time you could play a sorcery. 3B: Target player discards a card. Play this ability only any time you could play a sorcery.
2/2
WOW, brutal! The abilities are costed very aggressively but the sorcery stipulation is a bummer. Even so, a 2/2 for with all that goodness tacked on and no drawback to it... impressive. Awesome evil Dimir wizard. Constructed worthy.
... 15 mana? 14 toughness? Those have got to be records. Somehow I don't think you're meant to tap 15 creatures to play this guy. No upkeep cost, no Serra Avatar style drawback... I'd say reanimation target.
And where does this thing live, at that size? Can't wait to see that artwork!
Interesting new cards... now if we could only get an About Face varient to go with Conclave's Blessing...

Largest mana cost requireing colored mana.

I know its just a common, but I really like Bramble Elemental. With Verdent Force, this and the other Ravinica saprolings, I'll finally be able to make the type 2 saproling deck!
Griffin? Good. Generic 2/2 for 4 w/ ability? Reminds me of Mirage. PLayable in limited, good in R/W limited vs blue.
Conclave's Blessing - 3W
Enchantment - Aura (C)
Enchant creature
Convoke (Each creature you tap while playing this spell reduces its cost by or by one mana of that creature's color.)
Enchanted creature gets +0/+2 for each other creature you control.
Jank. Couldn't they have just made it cost 1W or 1(W/G)? Using keywords is good. Throwing them on things is not.
Necromancer's Thirst - 2BB
Enchantment - Aura (C)
Enchant creature
Whenever enchanted creature deals combat damage to a player, you may return target creature card from your graveyard to your hand.
Limited good. Constructed bad. Hopes for cheap black flyers or fear guys.
Golgari Thug - 1B
Creature - Human Warrior (C)

Dredge 4 (If you would draw a card, instead you may put exactly 4 cards from the top of your library into your graveyard. If you do, return this card from your graveyard to your hand. Otherwise, draw a card.)
1/1
Solid use of a keyword. Solid.
Coalhauler Swine - 4RR
Creature - Beast (C)
Whenever Coalhauler Swine is dealt damage, it deals that much damage to each player.
4/4
Neat ability, can't tell if it's an aggressive enough creature for limited...
Bramble Elemental - 3GG
Creature - Elemental (C)
Whenever an Aura becomes attached to Bramble Elemental, put two 1/1 green Saproling creature tokens into play.
4/4
Why do I think this isn't good when it's so much fun and so abusable? THIS is the kind of "bad card" I want to see.
Farseek - 1G
Sorcery (C)
Search your library for a Plains, Island, Swamp, or Mountain card and put it into play tapped. Then shuffle your library.
Dual land fetch. Needed after Gift of Estates gives you the rainbow.
Lurking Informant - :1mana::symub:
Creature - Human Rogue (C) (:symub: can be paid with either or :symb:) 2, :symtap:: Look at the top card of target player's library. You may put that card into that player's graveyard.

Rally the Righteous - 1RW

Radiance - Untap target creature and each other creature that shares a color with it. Those creatures get +2/+0 until end of turn.

Dredge 3 (If you would draw a card, instead you may put exactly 3 cards from the top of your library into your graveyard. If you do, return this card from your graveyard to your hand. Otherwise, draw a card.)
3/1
Plant? Check. Plant Zombie? This better be good art, WOTC! Playable in limited, a decent combat trick for 2 colors. Would have prefered this to be mono-black though, would have helped out Zombie Bidding decks...
Dimir Guildmage - :symub::symub:
Creature - Human Wizard (U) (:symub: can be paid with either or :symb:) 3U: Target player draws a card. Play this ability only any time you could play a sorcery. 3B: Target player discards a card. Play this ability only any time you could play a sorcery.
2/2
The sorcery-speed text seems very unessesary, but I guess a 2/2 for UU is good for U. Fine.
Farseek is beautiful, shambling shell is a potential early beatstick that becomes elf/bird pump/saver and the guildmage is intriguing.
Rally the righteous potentially can give Paladin En vec +2/+0 ignoring the prot, with radiance, leaving the beasts untapped to block. Definitely best card with radiance so far.
Nice addition R_E

Don't mind my posts, they are probably just a product of gang violence
Question: Can farseek put the new duals into play tapped? The card says to put them into play tapped, but the duals say you can pay 2 when they come into play... and if you do, they come into play untapped.
Question: Can farseek put the new duals into play tapped? The card says to put them into play tapped, but the duals say you can pay 2 when they come into play... and if you do, they come into play untapped.
Just curious?
I would say that even though the dual is worded to untap if 2 life is paid (if played from the hand) Farseek is putting them in play so they stay tapped when they came into play

The reason the Dredge reminder text says "exactly four" is so that you can't use it with fewer than four cards in your library. Otherwise, you would mill however many were left, and you could never be decked with a Dredge card in your graveyard.

Karma doesn't exist. You can't depend on it. If you count on it for justice or catharsis, you will find that you have placed your emotions on very unstable ground; and you will either repeat your disappointment in society over and over, or you will engage in a persistent delusion to protect yourself from that feeling.
The reason the Dredge reminder text says "exactly four" is so that you can't use it with fewer than four cards in your library. Otherwise, you would mill however many were left, and you could never be decked with a Dredge card in your graveyard.
But what makes milling cards different from paying life? :confused3:
Screeching Griffin combines an evasion feature from one color with another from another color. Although it would suck w/ no other beefy/tricky creatures to support it, it can break stalemates in the late game. The Auras and Bramble thingie are awesomely stupid and I can't see that Bramble Elemental being used instead of an Enchantress. The Golgari creatures are tricky to use effectively. The Golgari Thug, in particular, has two abilities that are discordant of each other. If you would draw the other creature card, you can't dredge the next turn. The Informant is about as useful as Darksteel Pendant but a lot more fragile. Rally the Righteous is, as usual for those types of effects, awesome combat tricks for R/W with their legions of weenies. I would even play it on turn 3 if only to gain a 1-for-1 card parity (two attacking creatures, etc.) The Dimir Guildmage further solidifies the "blue card drawing should mostly be at sorcery speed" thing. It *is* awesome, though. The giant Wurm is just a reanimation target. I suppose it's a lot bigger than Verdant Force, and it tramples instead of providing an infinite supply of chump blockers and dorks. Kinda suck to have to Reanimate instead of Exhume it though, if you were playing some kind of Benzo.
All I can say is thank god for Farkseek... I'd have felt dirty if I played rampant growth once STE rotates, this gives me a good of year of staying away from that fate. Anywho, GoGo Ravnica, some cool stuff here, and wow, thats a big.... well, a big big thing.
But what makes milling cards different from paying life? :confused3:
Any judges have thoughts on this?
I'm not a judge, but the answer is that you aren't allowed to pay more life than you have, but you are allowed to put the top four cards into your graveyard when there are less than four there. Dampen Thought still takes effect on a player with 2 cards left, for example.
